Are Review Dates Necessary in Schema markup for Ratings to Appear in SERPS?

Schema seems to be properly set up according to Google Webmaster Tools and the Structured Data Testing Tool... https://developers.google.com/structured-data/testing-tool/?url=http://www.myessentia.com/mattresses/classic-8
Are dates for reviews necessary to getting the star ratings to appear in the SERPS?
-
Hi Schmeetz,
I've had a rough time getting reviews to work for schema as well. The structured data testing tool can give you a positive when something's actually missing that'll stop Google from displaying your stars. The nice thing is, if you're using structured data, Google will update their listings as soon as they recrawl the page, so you can test things fairly easily. Use Google Webmaster Tools to "Fetch as Google" and "Submit to Index" to get a page with new code recrawled within an hour or so.
I don't think you need dates in order to get star ratings on SERPs. I haven't needed them on my company's site. But, I noticed that all of your markup is using content tags rather than marking up actual content on the page. My guess is, that's the issue, that Google doesn't trust content that isn't seen on the page. Have you tried marking up the actual content?
_Note: _Google will also sometimes blacklist domains from displaying reviews. This isn't an issue for you, but for others reading this: you can test it by searching for "site: [product URL]". If Google displays the ratings then, it's not a technical issue, it's a blacklisting issue.
Test out marking up visible HTML text and let us know how it goes!
Best,
Kristina

Hi.
I had pretty excruciating experience with Schema. I've been working with it for some time, but i rarely seen it work. I have seen it work for ecommerce websites, but that's pretty much it. I know it's all correct, at least according to structured data checker tool and common sense, but it's still painfully rare when it actually displays rich snippets. Also, usually it does take looong time to see results. You said it's been three months, usually it should be enough, but who knows how Google works.
Also there is a clear explanation that Google uses schema as a referrer, as a helper, but it doesn't necessarily mean that if you have schema, you gonna have snippet. I even had a phone-talk with Google engineers about our "perfectly" proper schema for Knowledge Graph, which isn't working. For about 4 months. Nobody could give me any make-sense answer.

Customer Reviews on Product Page / Pagination / Crawl 3 review pages only
Hi experts, I present customer feedback, reviews basically, on my website for the products that are sold. And with this comes the ability to read reviews and obviously with pagination to display the available reviews. Now I want users to be able to flick through and read the reviews to help them satisfy whatever curiosity they have. My only thinking is that the page that contains the reviews, with each click of the pagination will present roughly the same content. The only thing that changes is the title tags which will contain the number in the H1 to display the page number. I'm thinking this could be duplication but i have yet to be notified by Google in my Search console... Should i block crawlers from crawling beyond page 3 of reviews? Thanks

Schema markup in tag manager for multiple locations not registering in tester tool or search console
Hi Moz community, I had implemented schema markup for companies with multiple branches. We setup an organization with multiple points of contact tag, a Local Business tag for each branch and tags for specific products/ services - all through Google tag manager. I managed to fix the product markup with a small update to the code I found in a Google forum but have been unable to revive our local business markup. The tags of the schema mark up are active but when I run the Google structured data testing tool it doesn't find any schema tags. We are seeing some of the tags show up in search console but not all of them. Has anyone else had this problem and found a solution? Or, do you have any recommendations on how to markup an organization with multiple branches? Should we have one overall organization tag and a separate one for each business or is there another way of presenting each branch? Appreciate any insight!

Dates in the blog posts - on, off or regularly updated
Hello Moz community, We have a blog where we post what we believe is very valuable, unique content for our niche. The content frequently stays very relevant for our visitor for many many years. In terms of both user engagement and SEO, should we keep the dates in our blog posts? Should we remove them? Should we go through every blog post and edit it slightly every week even if there is no meaningful information we can add? Should employ some kind of plugin that does update the blog post date automatically?

Google adding strings to meta title in SERPs => Driving my client crazy!
Fellow Mozzers, I'm really baffled by Google's behaviour adding strings before my meta title in the SERPs.
Technical SEO | | TheReference
This behaviour seems random, but it mainly happens on queries that trigger the homepages (multilingual .com domain).
I'm aware of meta title guidelines concerning length, and I know that Google may insert strings if it thinks it could benefit the user.
But clearly their "aid" is not helpful at all... Client is really anxious to get this resolved and we're stumped on what could be the cause for this... Some examples: Query: https://www.google.co.uk/#hl=en&pws=0&q=Ogone - Online payment gateway
Result title: en-gb - Ogone - Online payment gateway
Normal title: Ogone - Online payment gateway Query: https://www.google.at/#hl=de&q=Ogone Online Payment Service Provider
Result title: ogone.at - Ogone. Online Payment Service Provider & e-payment ...
Normal title: Ogone. Online Payment Service Provider & e-payment Deutschland
=> For longer titles it will just prepend strings, and leave out our piece of the meta title Query: https://www.google.nl/#hl=nl&pws=0&q=Support Ogone
Result: Support | Ogone
=> For very short titles, Google doesn't add anything, why does it so for the other results? I really don't understand why this happens. The titles are long enough (but not too long), no strange characters inserted. Please, please help. Thanks in advance! Nikolaas0 -
Are backlinks the reason for my site's much lower SERP ranking, despite similar content?
Hi all, I'm trying to determine why my site (surfaceoptics.com) ranks so much lower than my competitor's sites. I do not believe the site / page content explains this differential in ranking, and I've done on-site / on-page SEO work without much or any improvement. In fact I believe my site is very similar in quality to competitor sites that rank much higher for my target keyword of: hyperspectral imaging. This leads me to believe there is a technical problem with the site that I'm not seeing, or that the answer lies in our backlink profile. The problem is that I've compared our site with 4 of our competitors in the Open Site Explorer and I'm not seeing a strong trend when it comes to backlinks either. Some competitors have more links / better backlink profiles but then other sites have no external links to their pages and lower PA and DA and still outrank us by 30+ positions. How should I go about determining if the problem is backlinks or some technical issue with the site?

Max number of results from domain on a SERP
I have read in many places that the maximum number of results that will be displayed on the SERP from a domain or subdomain is 2. Is this still the case? I have seen many instances where there are well more than 2 results from a domain displaying on the SERP. For example, search 'cvs pharmacy' on Google. There are 7 results from the cvs.com domain. Is it the case that the search engines will display more if it's a branded search?

Schema for Price Comparison Services - Good or Bad?
Hey guys, I was just wondering what the whole schema.org markup means for people that run search engines (i.e. for a niche, certain products) or price comparison engines in general. The intend behind schema.org was to help the engines better understand the pages content. Well, I guess such services don't necessarily want Google to understand that they're just another search engine (and thus might get thrown out of the index for polluting it with search result pages). I see two possible scenarios: either not implement them or implement them in a way that makes the site not look like an aggregator, i.e. by only marking up certain products with unique text. Any thoughts? Does the SEOmoz team has any advice on that? Best,
