On Page Grader Help
-
Hi There
I am going through the process of using the on page grader and optimising lots of pages, it seems that the difference between getting an F and A grade is simply the title having those keywords however there are keywords that I want to grade well for without stuffing the Title tag with loads of different keywords.
Would you say the on page grader is reliable given this and if not could it be optimised to consider the other factors rather then just displaying a tick to say these factors have been considered and achieved.

I'm interested to know the answer to this also, but I think it depends on the keyword, as the page is graded relatively.

Hi Everyone
Firstly thank you for all your answers and ideas, what I am really asking though is why does the on page grader not update it's grades based on the other factors, other then the title tag. i.e. I can have the keyword 'burger' in H1 tags, the URL, ALT attributes, in the body text a couple times and in the meta section of the site and receive an F grade from the on page grader, but as soon as I add the word 'burger' to the title I receive an A grade. Is there a reason why the only factor that has that influence is the title tag, and why is it that a keyword for a page cant get say a B or C grade if it has the other factors covered (i.e. they have a tick next to them) but not the title tag?
Cheers Again

Hi,
Please remember that the Page Grader is just a tool that looks at specific aspects on the page, but won't go past that.
For example, once you have your key word in the likes of the title, URL and H1, it looks like it might be ready to start ranking, but there is so much more that you need to do to the page.
First of all, it MUST make sense. There is no point in writing for Google as it will just sound spammy and the net result will result in a lack of placement in the SERPs or poor conversion rates.
You absolutely must do some keyword research. You want to explain to Google what the page is about so it should be very comprehensive and carry certain other related phrases that help explain the product / service. However... Don't go so far that the page suddenly becomes a long and tedious read.
Keep it concise, keep it factual, keep it interesting.

Hi Alick,
So with the most important keyword, would you only use in the meta title, and not bother using in other areas because the meta title in a sense 'overrides' all the others? (ie is it overkill to use the your main keyword in more than the title tag?) I guess it depends on what the keyword is your trying to rank for?
Thanks

Hi,
I'm completely agree with you that if keyword is not present in meta title on page grader tool gives lower grade because it is the most important place to use keyword in on page SEO.
It is not possible to place all the keywords in meta title so we place only important keyword in meta title and it is also not possible to get grade 'A' keyword for each keyword so IMO place important keyword in meta title and use rest of keywords in web page content, H1 tag and in backlink anchor text.
Hope this helps.
Thanks

Moz keyword mention on-page counting errors
Hi. Moz is showing 18 mentions of the keyword 'street furniture' on this landing page https://www.broxap.com/street-furniture.html But I can only count 6 in total in the body copy and 13 if you include navigation links. This is the same on other pages too for that keyword. Does anyone know where it's counting these extra keywords from? I don't want to fall foul of keyword stuffing but as far as I can see we're not! Could Moz be miscalculating? Any help appreciated! Thanks Joe

Re On-Page Grader
One of the pages I'm trying to optimise is achieving an 'A' grade, however all the ticks are black not green as I've seen on other page grade. Why is this? Help much appreciated. Thanks

Optimise your Pages in Moz Crawl - where do the keywords come from?
I am just going through my first Crawl stats from the MOZ analytics Under the pages to optimise section I have pages that I have optimised for my best keyword with an A grade that are showing as an F grade and suggesting a different keyword? Where is this keyword coming from? I am assuming that my page has been analysed and a better keyword has been recommended? Can anyone advise? Thanks Roger

Canonical nightmare! Help!
Hi all, I really hope someone can help, I'm new to Moz and think I've done something really silly. Last night I changed some settings in Magento for how it handles Category paths and Canonicals to those that most SEO people recommend. Everything looked fine and products that had 4 URL's all seemed now to have only one. I then tried the dropdown menu on iOS and it just didn't work (worked fine on PC). In a panic I changed the settings back, cleared cache etc... Now I try to grade a page in Moz and I'm scoring an F on every one, critical errors everywhere! Top of the list is that it's returning HTTP code 200. Has anyone heard of navigation that can be broken on only iOS or can anyone shed any light on how the canonical changes could have affected navigation? Thanks, any help or suggestions really welcome.

Moz reporting appropriate Canonical tag usage but no canonical tag on page !?
I take it this means that the page in question has been referenced via a different pages canonical tag but that the page in question itself does not have a self referencing canonical tag (and that it should do) cheers dan
