External links that don't exist

I did a crawl test and it shows that there are 2215 external links on my home page here:
https://www.playshakespeare.com
An "External Link" is defined here:
https://moz.com/researchtools/crawl-test
"Number of links on a page that point to a page that is not on the same domain as that page."
There are NOT 2215 external links on that page. There are only a handful at any given time. Why is the crawl test reporting thousands over that?

Hi,
I did a quick crawl of your site with Screaming Frog - your site seems to generate a lot of time outs & 5xx errors - could be that these are seen as external links by Moz. Response times are very bad for most of your pages.

I understand there are many links on the page, but the crawl test reports External links, not internal.

I checked your site with a plugin - and it seems to have more than 1800 links - don't forget that the links in the navigation - even if not visible still count as link.

Refering URL Does Not Exist
I'm getting 250 or so 401 errors which says the refering Url is: https://www.carburetor-parts.com/assets/manuals/Carter_ThermoQuad_Carburetor.pdf Interesting that the file does not exist. It may have at one time. At any rate can a pdf have a URL. I can't find the reference anywhere. Any ideas/ Thanks Mike

How do I disallow crawl on a directory when it's a prefix to my site's URL?
I am trying to disallow our media repository (hosted elsewhere, but appears as a directory on our site) from being crawled by robots but it is not a subdirectory of the site, it's a prefix. So I need to disallow: mediabank.mywebsite.org Not: mysite.org/mediabank What would I need to put in my robots.txt and/or the other host's robots.txt to make this happen? Thanks!

MozBot Finding Duplicate Pages That Aren't Duplicate
I've been reviewing the technical audits for my campaign in Moz, and noticed I had a number of duplicate content issues that I'm not really sure how to address. When I click on the links of what the duplicates are, they are all different links that have different content/images. Based on what I was seeing other's wrote in the forum, this could be because the code base is really the same between these pages, and many of these were using query parameters (I'm assuming that is why the code is almost exactly the same across these pages), so example: website.com/tags/KEYWORD1?type=KEYWORD2 is a duplicate of website.com/tags/KEYWORD3?type=KEYWORD4 I was reading that I can use that URL Parameters area in google search console, but my search console says that the googlebot isn't experiencing issues, so I wasn't sure if that was the right move. I can't do the canonicals because these pages all have different content on them, and I know duplicate content is a big SEO issue, so I really wasn't sure what my next steps should be. Error in Duplicate Content Being Reported - Pages Aren't Actually Duplicates
The recent crawl of one of our sites revealed a high number of duplicate content issues. However, when I viewed the report for pages with duplicate content I noticed almost all of them are not duplicates. For example, these two pages are marked as dupes:

Unusual "internal links" causing SEO issues?
Hi all, I'm working on an ecommerce site which has been around for almost 20 years. Over the years it has started to suffer in Google's search results and the decision was recently made to completely overhaul the site. We're now very happy with the website's design, and care was taken to maintain page rank via 301s, etc. However, the site has just fallen off the bottom of Google's first search result page (for the first time in years) for our main keyword. I signed up here in the hope of using Moz's SEO tools to help us return to our former glory, but I'm seeing some confusing results: I've run a crawl test on our site, as well as on our two biggest competitors. One thing that really stood out was that we have over 1000 "internal links" to our homepage, whereas our competitors both have around 20-30 (both of which appear at the top of the first SR page). Since the rest of the "on-page SEO" looks OK, I suspect that this could be causing our problems, but I don't understand where this "internal links" number is coming from. Links to our competitor's homepage appear in the navigation bar on every single one of their product pages (which they have about 500 of), yet your report only claims that they have 30 links. The only link to the homepage appears in the site's main navigation bar (which obviously appears on every product page - exactly as it does on our competitors' sites). Additionally, almost every other page on our site apparently has 0 "internal links" and 0 page authority. Is this a problem with Moz's crawl test tool, or is our site actually at fault? The above has been asked directly to Moz staff, but I haven't had a reply. I'd hugely appreciate any words of wisdom from the community. Many thanks in advance. Nick
