How are these links being displayed?
-
How does one markup their site to get the small sitelinks to appear in SERP listings as seen in the example image below?
-
You'd use alt text on an image link, but not text. Alt text is the text that would display instead of the image if the image isn't shown for whatever reason (e.g. for the visually impaired or for those who prefer to browse text-only). Title text is the text that displays when you hover over something. You can use it in addition to the alt text, but it would be the title that displays when you hover over the image.
I'm sure all three (alt, title and anchor text) help Google to learn what a link is all about.

They actually specifically refer to it as "alt" in this help file:

I'm sure there are a few little bits and bobs that could help to encourage which pages to show as sitelinks in Google. Do you mean title text instead of alt text (the text that shows when you hover over a link)? Adding that, as well as having your main links in the website's main navigation and these pages being higher in the site structure would probably help. (But, from my experience, lack of title text for the link wouldn't prevent Google from showing the page as a sitelink) But really, with a little bit of time and patience (and everything else), they should start showing naturally regardless.
Good luck!

Thank you, Ria! I do notice in the Search Console help files it does mention something about tagging internal links with alt text (along with good anchor text) as a way to better optimize these links. I wonder based on that suggestion that only links that have alt text would even be considered for sitelinks? It's especially peculiar as alt isn't even a recognized attribute by the W3C standards...
Nevertheless, thank you for your response - I've found in my additional research that simply adhering the SEO best practices (along with longer standing high rankings) are the best formula for getting these sitelinks.

Unfortunately, there is no way to mark up your website to display sitelinks in search results. Google will only display them for reputable websites if they think that these additional links to pages within your website are useful to the user's search query. Can't really do anything else, I'm afraid. Apart from demote pages in Search Console that you don't want to appear as a sitelink. Other than that, sitelinks are a little out of our control....

Feefo review links
Hi guys, so we are on feefo and noticed links coming in per review for different anchor text, this will be done on mass due to the amount of reviews we will get - this is all natural but in SEO site-wide links are typically not. How if at all do you think Google will react to this?

Finding Broken Back Links
Hello there I am new here but really want to mend my broken website by myself as I enjoy a challenge! I used to have great rankings but have moved websites a few times (same domain) and the last move was to wordpress. I now have loads of broken links in the SERPS and wondered if there was an easy way to flush google of them as they are getting lots of 404 errors? They really are too many to do a 301 on (I have done the main pages) Also how do I do a crawl of my website for any internal broken links? Does SEOmoz have something or is there an external program you would recommend? Thanks Victoria

Back Link Question
Hi Folks, Our domain (www.alabu.com) has been around since 2000. We've accumulated a lot of back links over the years, many of which I don't recognize and didn't ask for. I've been reading on here recently about "cleaning up" back links. I do see a lot of ours that just aren't relevant and I don't know why they decided to link to us. We haven't gotten a warning from google or anything like that, but I wonder, how do I know if we could benefit from cleaning up our back links? Is there a benefit to it even if google hasn't warned us? Thanks! Hal

Asking to remove links from other sites
How hard is it to get people to take off links that point to your site that are on theirs? I have about 4 sites that I would like my link OFF of their blogroll because I think I was hit by the penguin update because of that. Do you know if there is anything you can do if they DON'T take it off?

Spam links on my Backlink Profile
Recently after checking my backlink profile, my site has attracted quite a few spam backlinks with the anchor text written in Asian characters. We don't do any black-hat tactics and have remained clean in our process, as well as not submitted our site to any spam directories, yet we still have these foreign links. Any thoughts on how to get rid of these or stop these from occurring?

Good links pratice for listing pages?
Hello, I'm wondering which is the best way to handle this kindle of page... You can have a look at my screen capture, or see directly my page here. I've in my case, for the same "ski resort", 3 differents anchor link type (title, image and more info…), all of them are going on the same page. I know it's not that good, my idea, it to keep only the more info like, but with a better anchor link, something like : more information about this ski resort... Thanks in advance 🙂 Best regards links.jpg
