Analysing competitors' backlinks?

I am doing some competitor analysis and one thing that I want to know is how many links my competitors have and how many different domains link to their sites. I got some figures on this both from the SEO Moz toolbar and from Majestic SEO. My problem is that the figues are massively different.
E.g. SEO Moz says 9657 links from 95 domains, Majestic says 4895 links from 1722 domains.
Who do I believe? And where do each of these tools get their data from?

Both tools uses spiders to crawl the web and gather links into a database like search engines do.
Who to believe? Why not both! If you must really chose one of them, then I suggest your export the data to spreadsheets that you will then be able to analyse and compare in Excel.
Then, according to the result of your findings, chose the one that is the most accurate based on your criterias.

Open Site Explorer gives the same data as the SEO Moz toolbar, it just takes a little longer to do.

Just wondering what everyone is using, I am looking to get as much insight and detail as I can on websites that are not currently being monitored by me... i.e. potential clients. I use tools like pagespeed, webpagetest, loadimpact and open site explorer, google adwords, ispionage, alexa, semrush and well, looking for more. I really just want to rip a website to the tiniest pieces possible in an organized and coherent manner... is there anything out there? I have tried several other's which i no longer use (compete, 4q, woopra, nuestar, to name a few), I am not sure if I know exactly what i want, i just want more.... damn the human condition. lol

Finding the source of duplicate content URL's
We have a website that displays a number of products. The product has variations (sizes) and unfortunately every size has its own URL (for now anyway). Needless to say, this causes duplicate content issues. (And of course, we are looking to change the URL's for our site as soon as possible) However, even though these duplicate URL's exist, you should not be able to land on them by navigating through the site. In theory, the site should always display the link to the smallest size. It seems that there is a flaw in our system somewhere, as these links are now found in our campaign here on SEOmoz. My question: is there any way to find the crawl path that lead to the URL's that shouldn't have been found, so we can locate the problem?

Hello all, Just a brief question... does anybody know of a good link profiling tool which will give me a list of URLs that are linked to from a specific website? Essentially, I'm looking for the polar opposite of OpenSiteExplorer as I'm not interested in the inbound links, only the outbound links. Thanks, Elias

Need to find all pages that link to list of pages/pdf's
I know I can do this in OSE page by page, but is there a way I can do this in a large batch? There are 200+ PDF's that I need to figure out what pages (if any) link to the PDF. I'd rather not do this page by page, but rather copy-paste the entire list of pages I'm looking for. Any tools you know of that can do this?

SEOMoz's Crawl Diagnostics showing an error where the Title is missing on our Sitemap.xml file?
Hi Everyone, I'm working on our website Sky Candle and I've been running it as a campaign in SEOmoz. I've corrected a few errors we had with the site previously, but today it's recrawled and found a new error which is a missing Title tag on the sitemap.xml file. Is this a little glitch in the SEOmoz system? Or do I need to add a page title and meta description to my XML file. http://www.skycandle.co.uk/sitemap.xml Any help would be greatly appreciated. Duplicate page content reports duplicates, but pages don't show duplication
My duplicate page reports shows 376 pages with duplicate content. After reviewing the pages the report claims have duplicate content, i can't find duplications. could this be an error, or is there some source code that doesn't display that could be causing this issue?
