Tools to check mobile speed performance
-
Hey Guys,
Looking at a site which has mobile versions of each page example: m.domain.com.au
Some of these pages have images which are over 1mb.
I want to quickly identify these pages with high image file sizes, any good tools which can do this?
Cheers.

Run Screaming Frog on your subdomains and check the Images tab in the report, then sort by image size and you'll find the large images.
Download Screaming Frog from here: http://www.screamingfrog.co.uk/seo-spider/

You can use Google PageSpeed Insights:
https://developers.google.com/speed/pagespeed/insights/And if your site is on WordPress then you can install this plugin:
https://wordpress.org/plugins/google-pagespeed-insights/You also can use WebPageTest, GTMetrix, Pingdom Tools. Even one simply *nix tool as wget can make local mirror to site where you can see filesizes (command is wget -r -m http://m.domain.com/au ).
Alternative you can use desktop crawlers (like mine SEOSpyder) where you can see also images size in bytes.

Mobile First Timeline - When Will Google Move The Remainder of Websites?
A common question from anxious webmasters who have separate/smaller mobile websites is: _"Will Google move my site over to mobile-first, even though I'm not "ready" yet?" _It's not an easy question to answer. Here's what we know so far: Google is currently already migrating websites over that have a strong correlation between mobile and desktop content Google is taking the migration process very slowly, and for now, is not migrating sites over that are not "ready". Google has not announced any firm timeline for when they plan to migrate the remainder of all websites. In answering this question, I typically mention all of the above to help allay any fears. I then state that it could maybe be anywhere from one year to several years before the process is over - but with a huge disclaimer that this is pure speculation, and that only Google knows for sure. Lastly, I reiterate that Google in the meantime is strongly encouraging webmasters w mobile sites to ensure that they match the desktop version (URLs, schema, video, metadata, etc). So the choice is to either to upgrade to responsive/adaptive, or upgrade the mobile site. This is where the future is going. STILL - any additional feedback / thoughts / ideas / tips on this are welcome, because I continue to struggle with answering this question for clients. Thanks!

What can we do to optimize / be mobile-friendly for PDFs?
I'm getting a "Your page is not mobile-friendly." notice in the SERPs for all of our PDFs. I check the pdf on the phone and it appears just fine. rFtLq

Do I miss traffic (thus, page value) by using the GWMT Parameter Handling Tool?
I'm working through duplicate content issues. The tracking code or the session id in the URL is being recognized as a different page than the original. Example: www.example.com is dup content to www.example.com?_nk=x&ad=y&_ga=z, which is tied to a marketing campaign If my setup in the URL parameter tool is set to: Effect = None Crawl = Representative URL, then do I: 1. Miss all the traffic being driven to the ?_nk page?
Intermediate & Advanced SEO | | johnnybgunn
2. With a Rep URL, there still would be two indexed listings: the .com & the .com?_nk...right? Neither is good. Redirects of all the URLs is not an option b/c there are hundreds of these that would need to be redirected. And I also don't want to slow down page load time with excessive redirects, which has been the case when adding 100+ redirects for the recent website migration we did.0 -
Webmaster Tools HTML Improvements Page Blank / Site Not Ranking Well
I have an ecommerce site that is not ranking well currently. It has about 1,000 pages indexed in Google but very few appear to be ranking. I normally find issues in Webmaster Tools HTML Improvements but for some reason it does not see a problem with the site. There are problems, trust me. Moz shows many issues. Google nothing! There is a problem somewhere but I am not seeing it. Why are HTML Improvements blank and the site not ranking? Am I in the dreaded sandbox? Any ideas? Sean We didn't detect any content issues with your site. As we crawl your site, we check it to detect any potential issues with content on your pages, including duplicate, missing, or problematic title tags or meta descriptions. These issues won't prevent your site from appearing in Google search results, but paying attention to them can provide Google with more information and even help drive traffic to your site. For example, title and meta description text can appear in search results, and useful, descriptive text is more likely to be clicked on by users.

Brand sections performing badly in SERP's but all SEO tools think we are great
I have had this problem for some time now and I've asked many many experts. Search for Falke in Google.co.uk and this is what you get: http://www.sockshop.co.uk/by_brand/falke/ 3rd Our competitor
Intermediate & Advanced SEO | | jpbarber
http://www.mytights.com/gb/brand/falke.html 4th Our competitor http://www.uktights.com/section/73/falke 104th this is us ????? 9th for Falke tights with same section not our falke tights section? All sites seem to link to their brand sections in the same way with links in the header and breadcrumbs, Opensite exporler only shows 2 or 3 internal links for our compertitors, 1600+ from us?
Many of our brand sections rank badly Pretty Polly and Charnos brands rank page 2 or 3 with a brand subsection with no links to them, main section dosn't rank? Great example is Kunert, a German brand no UK competition our section has been live for 8 years, the best we can do is 71st Google UK, 1st on Bing (as we should be). I'm working on adding some quality links, but our comtetitors have a few low quality or no external links, only slightly better domain authority but rank 100+ positions better than us on some brands. This to me would suggest there is something onpage / internal linking I'm doing wrong, but all tools say "well done, grade A" take a holiday. Keyword denisty is similar to our competiors and I've tried reducing the number of products on the page. All pages really ranked well pre Penguin, and Bing still likes them. This is driving me nuts and costing us money Cheers Jonathan

10yr old Domain, Conflicting Message from Webmaster tools/Google search
This is the first time I have encountered this and am quite frankly a little baffled on how to proceed. We have some domains that are 10 years old, and do get some hits / impressions and they have a lot of content. So I redid the site in wordpress etc... Anyway, on Google the sites show up as www. , and on Webmaster tools,- the www. shows no impressions or anything, while the non-www domain shows up in google webmaster tools with data. The question is, if google displays the site as www. and webmaster tools shows data for non www. Which one do I proceed with, finding info on this has been pretty hard to do. Any input is appreciated, Thanks in advance:)
