Site Not Being Indexed
-
Hey Everyone - I have a site that is being treated strangely by google (at least strange to me) The site has 24 pages in the sitemap - submitted to WMT'S over 30 days ago
I've manually triggered google to crawl the homepage and all connecting links as well and submitted a couple individually.
Google has been parked the indexing at 14 of the 24 pages. None of the unindexed URL's have Noindex or follow tags on them - they are clearly and easily linked to from other places on the site. The site is a brand new domain, has no manual penalty history and in my research has no reason to be considered spammy. 100% unique handwritten content
I cannot figure out why google isn't indexing these pages.
Has anyone encountered this before? Know any solutions? Thanks in advance.

Some of your pages lack enough content or unique content for Google to care:
This: http://carpetcleanertn.com/carpet-cleaning-specials/ isn't indexed. But then, why would it be?
http://carpetcleanertn.com/carpet-cleaning-spring-hill-tn/ this isn't indexed - but ... yeah.
No content except an image on this either: http://carpetcleanertn.com/gift-certificates/
None at all here: http://carpetcleanertn.com/great-nashville-area/
Your pricing & services page aren't being indexed but that's because they're near-copies of the actual chemdry page. See attachment.
I think if you wrote clean, new copy for the pricing & services page you'd see them get indexed but since they're super-close to the original, Google has chosen to only index one.

I think we're clear there?
I checked some of the specific pages (that haven't been indexed) and googlebot is showing no errors there.
Thanks,

I did, and I should have mentioned that at the start -
It shows 18 indexed - a couple junk internal pages (that I need to pull!) and that weren't even in the sitemap that I submitted.

PM the URL or post it here so we can take a look. Generally this is a case of:
-
No indexed links yet
-
Duplicate content
-
Robots meta tag or robots.txt
-
Content not actually in the site (iframes, other coding issues)
-
Content in an image/flash/other unreadable or nearly unreadable format.

Great question.
As recommended by Andrew, I would definitely check your site's robots.txt file to ensure those pages or sections of the site aren't being blocked.
Secondly, I would check your sitemap and make sure there aren't any errors within it. Often times if your sitemap is inaccurate Google might decide to not index certain pages.
Doing a site:search for your website will help you understand what pages are showing up as well. Beyond this, you can do a site:search and enter a keyword for one of the landing pages that isn't being indexed by Google. If that page shows up, you know it's indexed.
Often times GSC doesn't give us 100% accurate data and therefore it's good to do these checks yourself. It's important to note that Google doesn't have to index certain pages if it doesn't find them useful for one reason or another. This is something we don't have much control of, however I doubt that is the case here.
Do the steps I mentioned above and let me know if you find anything interesting. Respond with your findings and we can try and get to the bottom of your specific issue. Hope that helps!

Hello,
You mentioned that none of the pages have noindex/nofollow tags, but have you also checked your robots.txt file to verify that they aren't blocked there?

Hi there,
Is well known that Search console usualy has those error, that displays information that is not accurate.
Have you tried to search that site? Using site:yoursite.com? There you will confirm how many pages are indexed.Hope it helps.

Redirecting HTTP to HTTPS - How long does it take Google to re-index the site?
hello Moz We know that this year, Moz changed its domain to moz.com from www.seomoz.org
Technical SEO | | joony
however, when you type "site:seomoz.org" you still can find old urls indexed on Google (on page 7 and above) We also changed our site from http://www.example.com to https://www.example.com
And Google is indexing both sites even though we did proper 301 redirection via htaccess. How long would it take Google to refresh the index? We just don't worry about it? Say we redirected our entire site. What is going to happen to those websites that copied and pasted our content? We have already DMCAed their webpages, but making our site https would mean that their website is now more original than our site? Thus, Google assumes that we have copied their site? (Google is very slow on responding to our DMCA complaint) Thank you in advance for your reply.0 -
Google indexing staging / development site that is redirected...
Hi Moz Fans! - Please help. We had a acme.stagingdomain.com while a site was in development, when it went live it redirected (302) to acmeprofessionalservices.com (real names redacted!!) no known external links to staging site although staging site url has been emailed from Google Apps(!!!) now found that staging site is in the index even though it redirects to the proper public site. and some (but not all) of the pages are in the index too. They all redirect to the proper public site when visited. It is convenient to have a redirect from the staging site to the new one for the team, Chrome etc. remember frequently visited sites. Be a shame to lose that. Yes, these pages can be removed using webmaster tools.

But how did they get in the index to start with? And if we're building a new site, and a customer has an existing site is there a danger of duplicate content etc. penalties caused by the staging site? We had a similar incident recently when a PDF that was not linked anywhere on the site appeared in the index. The link had been emailed through Google Apps, and visited in Chrome, but that was it. So 3 questions. Why is the staging site still in the index despite the redirects? How did they get in the index in the first place? Will the new staging site affect the rank of the existing site, eg. duplicate content penalties?0 -
Site removed from Google Index
Hi mozers, Two months ago we published http://aquacion.com We registered it in the Google Webmaster tools and after a few day the website was in the index no problem. But now the webmaster tools tell us the URLs were manually removed. I've look everywhere in the webmaster tools in search for more clues but haven't found anything that would help me. I sent the acces to the client, who might have been stupid enough to remove his own site from the Google index, but now, even though I delete and add the sitemap again, the website won't show in Google SERPs. What's weird is that Google Webmaster Tools tells us all the page are indexed. I'm totally clueless here... Ps. : Added screenshots from Google Webmaster Tools. Update Turns out it was my mistake after all. When my client developped his website a few months ago, he published it, and I removed the website from the Google Index. When the website was finished I submited the sitemap, thinking it would void the removal request, but it don't. How to solve In webmaster tools, in the [Google Index => Remove URLs] page, you can reinclude pages there. tGib0

How to turn WP site into Ecom site?
I have a couple of old wordpress sites that are old affiliate blogs. I currently sell products that are on amazon on these sites and sell quite a bit of volume. I have found a source and can afford the inventory to replace Amazon with my own product. So the dilema is how to turn these wordpress sites into ecommerce sites. The thing I am worried most about is that each site gets about 100-200 visitors a day for great buying keywords. I obviously don't want to lose my rankings. What are the options of turning a wordpress site into a store. I am not interested in plugins or some of the other solutions that make the store look very cheap and I would assume horribly convert. If you have inner pages ranking for keywords how does that work? Do the post pages become product pages? So to sum up I guess I am asking, what are the options that are of the higher quality that will also help me keep my rankings? Thanks
