AMP pages for a responsive Ecommerce website?
-
Howdy guys,
I'm wondering if AMP is worthwhile intergrating into a responsive e-commerce site? I'm under the impression that the benefits of AMP would be focused around speed, however it may come at the cost of conversion rate if it was to be delivered for product pages, etc.
I'm presuming that even if AMP was on every page across a responsive ecommerce site, Google would only display AMP pages in the carousel for news articles, such as on the integrated blog?
Any advice would be awesome! Thanks guys

From my reads and attending Google hangouts with their AMP engineers, I take it that Google intended for AMP pages to be used for eCommerce from the inception of the project.

Currently, Google is really only sending traffic to news websites that use Google AMP. So, at this time, blogs and ecommerce sites don't need to set up Google AMP pages. Blogs should still do it, as I suspect that Google may enable it for blogs in the future.
As long as the ecommerce site is mobile friendly then I wouldn't worry about AMP right now.

I Run a WordPress site (not Ecommerce) There is a plugin built by Automatic that converts all posts on the site into AMP pages. The fact that it is posts only leads me to believe it is specifically for publishers at the moment. The AMP version is a very stripped down version of the original post. http://silvernailwebdesign.com/wordpress-plugins-how-many-is-too-many/amp/
Notice the /amp at the end. Google will serve the AMP page as opposed to the original depending on device. It does load super fast but it is only a text based page. It looks good though.

Hi,
Don't think that at the moment e-commerce is the focus of the AMP project. At the moment I think they're mostly working with publishers (like us) in making sure that articles that people read will go faster as publishers are usually the slowest sites on the Internet because of all the ad-setups. Maybe they're moving more towards other sites later on.

Question on AMP
I'd like to utilize AMP for faster loading for one of my clients. However, it is essential that this client have chat. My developer is having trouble incorporating chat with AMP, and he claims that it isn't possible to integrate the two. Can anyone advise me as to whether this is accurate? If it is true that AMP and chat aren't compatible, are there any solutions to this issue? I'd appreciate any leads on this. Thanks!

Development/Test Ecommerce Website Mistakenly Indexed
My question is - relatively speaking, how damaging to SEO is it to have BOTH your development/testing site and your live version indexed/crawled by Google and appearing in the SERPs? We just launched about a month ago, and made a change to the robots text on the development site without noticing ... which lead to it being indexed too.So now the ecommerce website is duplicated in Google ... each under different URLs of course (and on diff servers, DNS etc) We'll fix it right away ... and block crawlers to the development site. But again, may general question is what is the general damage to SEO ... if any ... created by this kind of mistake. My feeling is nothing significant

I want my website to rank on the first page for a very competitive keyword
I am a WordPress designer and can service national clients. I want to rank on the first page for the keyword WordPress designer. This is a highly competitive keyword MOZ gives it a 68% difficulty. I rank locally in nj for WordPress designer nj and a multitude of local WordPress based key words. I rank on page 10 of serps doing a private browsing session. Some of my national competitors rank on the first page with not many links in. How could i be so low on the serps for the base keyword WordPress Designer but for local WordPress designer nj be number 1 everytime? What should be my best plan of attack if i want to Rank much higher for this one specific keyword hopefully page 1. I think this one keyword could increase business greatly so it is a top priority for me. I appreciate all advice 🙂

Show parts of page A on page B & C?
Good afternoon,
Intermediate & Advanced SEO | | rayvensoft
A quick question. I am working on a website which has a large page with different sections. Lets say: Page 1
SECTION A
SECTION B
SECTION C Now, they are adding a new area where they want to show only certain sections, so it would look like this: Page 2
SECTION A Page 3
SECTION C Page 4
SECTION D So my question is, would a rel='canonical' tag back to Page 1 be the correct way of preempting any duplicate content issues? I do not need Page 2-4 to even be indexed, it is just a matter of usability and giving the users what they are looking for without all the rest of the extra stuff. Gracias. Tesekürler. Salamat Ko. Thanks. (bonus thumbs up for anybody who knows which languages each of those are) 🙂0 -
How important is the optional <priority>tag in an XML sitemap of your website? Can this help search engines understand the hierarchy of a website?</priority>
Can the <priority>tag be used to tell search engines the hierarchy of a site or should it be used to let search engines know which priority to we want pages to be indexed in?</priority>
