Does data highlighter changes override the hard coded schema markup?
-
I hope one liner question explains what I'm looking for.
-
It's possible that Google might give Data Highlighter information more credence when generating a rich snippet, but the success rate for that is far from 100%, as Andy and Bas have mentioned. It's just as likely that Google will be confused about which data is correct, and either not generate a rich snippet at all or generate one based on the schema markup. I haven't had much success adding markup via the data highlighter or via Google Tag Manager; hard-coding it always seems to work better. If your schema markup is incorrect, I would not recommend using Data Highlighter to try to fix it without changing the code - your best bet is just to change it, especially since Data Highlighter won't help you out on Bing/Yahoo.

Hi,
No, data highlighter doesn't overwrite schema, but I can say that in every instance I have seen it tried, it has never worked. I always end up creating correct schema for a page.
Personally, I would be interested to know if anyone has ever got Google's Data Highlighter to actually work.

Not for me but curious to hear what you are looking for exactly.

How old is 404 data from Google Search Console?
I was wondering how old the 404 data from Google Search Console actually is? Does anyone know over what kind of timespan their site 404s data is compiled over? How long do the 404s tend to take to disappear from the Google Search Console, once they are fixed?

When do you use article markup for AMP pages?
Hi all! For a healthcare website we have setup AMP. Google Search Console suggests to use article markup for several pages and I am not sure if this is correct. There are two kind of pages:
Intermediate & Advanced SEO | | DeptAgency
1. News pages
2. Information pages, for example: symptoms alcohol addiction or Binge Eating Disorder There's no doubt the article markup will be correct for the news pages but I am not sure about the information pages. Do you guys suggest to implement article markup on these pages as well or only use this for real news/blog posts? Hope you can help me out. Thank you in advance and happy holidays! I just linked a Google Webmaster Tools account to Google Analytics for a client, and Search Engine Optimization reports are showing up in Google Analytics as enabled, but there is zero keyword data, landing page data, etc., in the reports themselves. Has anyone encountered this?

Changing Server IP Addresses. Should I be concerned?
Hello Mozers Our site has been on a dedicated server for about four years now. (no other sites, just ours on the server) I have made the decision to move it to a much better and faster server than the current server we are on for more than one reason. My big fear is Google will lose trust for my site because of the IP change. Ip's stay with the server at 1and1 they do not follow the website. So, I have done my due diligence and copied over all code and databases and have tested it completely to insure there are no issues when I change the DNS to point to the new server. Made sure 1and1 is giving me an IP that has never been used, I am Keeping the old server on until cached DNS records expire for it. Is there anything else I need to do to make sure I do not lose current rankings in Google? I have heard nightmare stories about making these kinds of changes but at this point for our site there is no turning back this is a change that must take place. Any pointers and advice would be much appreciated! Thanks!

BIG CHANGE - 301 Main site to new domain
Hi Guys, Were wondering what to do about our main domain name, we were ranking quite high for our main keyword and before Christmas our site dropped to 10th and we have been there for a while - last week our site dropped again onto the second page. The worrying thing is now our main domain name is now ranking 1 place above another domain name that we don't really use but its an exact match domain name for our target keyword. This exact match domain has hardly any links pointing to it and it currently has a 22 domain authority. We are wondering if we 301 our main site to this exact match domain would it rank higher than the top of the 2nd page where we are now for our main domain. Cheers.
