Does adding more outgoing links on a high PA page decrease the juice passed to previous links?
-
Hi, I'm not sure how PA DA exactly works when the goal is to create backlinks to your site in order to have the most impact on passing PA DA juice (if there is such a thing) to ones money site.
For example let's say you have a blog and the PA is 40 DA is 30. Let's say I create a backlink pointing to my site on the homepage of this blog, in which I desire better rankings for, and the links I created are only 1-3 outgoing links on this post which is again on the homepage. Then say in a months time, I want to add another post on the homepage (so the 40 PA and 30 DA stays the same) creating a backlink to one of my other money sites. Does adding this second round of backlinks result in sending less juice to the first? This is what I want to know.
Thank you!

Google stopped ranking page rank in December 2013 and has said that it won't be supporting it moving forward. So yes, it's pretty much dead. I too was speaking conceptually about the "link juice" or power that flows from one source to another. Moz tries to measure / quantify that power in the form of domain and page rank.

Fair enough. One thing I noticed is that WooRank mentions Page Rank several times. Isn't Page Rank pretty much dead now or soon to be phased? When I was referring to link juice I meant it in terms of Page Authority juice if you will, and if there is such a thing? Thanks!

i honestly don't know. It could be so many things including your reliance on a private blog network which Google is not fond of. So you could try removing those links, but you should also be trying to acquire worthwhile links from other sources and lessening your reliance on the PBN.

My money site's rankings was very stable before the person I was working created backlinks to his own sites on my mini PBN which were primarily only pointing to my money site. So since he added the backlinks to his sites on my mini PBN my rankings were very stable and solid. This was about a month ago. I believe this is a major contributing factor to the drop of my rankings seeing as you mentioned that link juice gets dispersed if there are more links outgoing.
The only other thing that was changed was I added one paragraph of new text and while this may have a slight affect on things, am I correct in thinking that it's more likely the scenario above that had a greater effect? I hope it makes sense now.

I don't completely understand what you're asking, whether your site is the source or destination of links. I can say however, that it would be short-sighted to conclude there's only one reason for your site's rankings to have dropped. It could be what you've described. It could also be caused by other contributing factors. Google's ranking algorithm and the competitive market changes daily, as do most rankings.

Thank you very much for your informed response. I will read that article.
The reason I asked this question is because about a month ago, someone I worked with at that time added links to several of my blogs pointing it them to his money site, and recently as of today I noticed that my site is substantially dropping rankings. I believe this is the cause and so I will remove those links. The only change I made that may have affected the sites ranking was just a paragraph of new content, that's all. I believe that a paragraph of content would not result in dropped rankings. Am I correct in thinking this?
Much appreciate your feedback.

Yes. The amount of juice that a page has to pass along to other sites is finite. If you increase the number of pages you link out to, the amount of link juice that gets passed along to each destination diminishes. That' is true regardless of whether the link is followed or nofollowed.
Of course there are a lot of other factors that should be taken into consideration when deciding whether to add an additional link or not, the main one being the decision as to whether it helps your audience or not. Woorank has an excellent (undated) post that explains the flow of link juice. I recommend you give it a read.

Link equity when merging product pages
Hi, our e-commerce website has just over 900 products. A vast majority are very unique and not similar to one another. However, early in our development, we listed similar variations separately. For example, we had a separate product listing for different color options: Black, Tan, and Green. They do not rank too great by themselves. However, the product is very popular and the search volume is near 9k a month. Our competitors have one listing with several color options, which is what we are proposing. We would enable 301 redirects from the Tan and Green options, which would redirect to the new variation listing. Is this wise? We want to capitalize on this opportunity, and apply this practice for other product listings.

Webshop landing pages and product pages
Hi, I am doing extensive keyword research for the SEO of a big webshop. Since this shop sells technical books and software (legal books, tax software and so on), I come across a lot of very specific keywords for separate products. Isn't it better to try and rank in the SERP's with all the separate product pages, instead of with the landing (category) pages?

Moz Pro > Links > Top Pages: many are images, useful?
My site is 10 years old, and has always ranked well for the variety of garden tools it sells. Looking at our Moz Pro > Links > Top Pages report I see that many of the "pages" are actually image URLs. And many of those are images we do not even use anymore (though they are still hosted). Question: As a way of gaining some link juice to deeper pages, what about 301 redirecting some of those old images over to appropriate pages? (example: redirecting old-weeding-hoe.jpg to the page garden-hoes.html) Would it be worthwhile? Would it be safe? Thanks for any and all input!

Different Header on Home Page vs Sub pages
Hello, I am an SEO/PPC manager for a company that does a medical detox. You can see the site in question here: http://opiates.com. My question is, I've never heard of it specifically being a problem to have a different header on the home page of the site than on the subpages, but I rarely see it either. Most sites, if i'm not mistaken, use a consistent header across most of the site. However, a person i'm working for now said that she has had other SEO's look at the site (above) and they always say that it is a big SEO problem to have a different header on the homepage than on the subpages. Any thoughts on this subject? I've never heard of this before. Thanks, Jesse

Pages ending in .ad extension?
My company recently updated it's layout for thumbnails and property pages. Previously they displayed as /Property/123456-123%20MAIN%20Street-SPRINGFIELD-PA-98765 I know that was pretty bad URL structure so I was glad it was being changed, but now property pages are simply displaying as /6294888.ad What the heck is the .ad extension?

Does link equity to a page that is 301'd to a new domain pass juice on?
If we build some quality inbound links to certain pages, that are a later date 301'd to another domain, does any equity or juice get transferred across? Or is the inbound link's value wasted? Thanks
