How does putting a trial sign up code mid-blog post effect SEO? Do you think it will make my content seem less pleasing, therefor decrease the page rank??
-
I'm working on driving trials for our product - we have a number of blog posts that rank on page #1 of Google, and we get 2-3 trial sign ups per day from them.
I'd like to put trial signup boxes about midway down each post to see if I can increase the number of trial signups that come directly from our blog.
Do you think I can be "penalized" for this, since it's mid- blog-post content?
Do you think Google will view this negatively?

Great questions...
If you feel the calls to action you are adding are relevant to the content and add value to the page, then there should not be any problem adding them in. Do you currently have the sign-up forms in other locations on the page?
This is definitely something you could easily test by making the change on 1-2 posts and not others, and seeing if there appears to be any negative impact. Considering this would be "supplemental" content to the page, I would definitely make a point to try and give them a non-intrusive call to action.
Cheers,
Jake

Hi,
I don't see a reason why Google would penalize you for putting the signup box midway through your blog content unless it creates a negative user experience; Google does track signals like bounce rate and time spent on page, and if the box placement ends up causing people to leave your page sooner or leave your page before taking another action, you may see your listing ranking decrease. However, if placing the box higher on the page results in more conversions and does not detract from user experience, you shouldn't be penalized for it.

If people are enjoying your posts, they may well want to have a trial signup. This is a very common practice and a lot of the reason people have blogs to begin with.

Magento 1.9 SEO. I have product pages with identical On Page SEO score in the 90's. Some pull up Google page 1 some won't pull up at all. I am searching for the exact title on that page.
I have a website built on Magento 1.9. There are approximately 290,000 part numbers on the site. I am sampling Google SERP results. About 20% of the keywords show up on page 1 position 5 thru 10. 80% don't show up at all. When I do a MOZ page score I get high 80's to 90's. A page score of 89 on one part # may show up on page one, An identical page score on a different part # can't be found on Google. I am searching for the exact part # in the page title. Any thoughts on what may be going on? This seems to me like a Magento SEO issue.

Page is an A but does not rank extremely good… Any ideas?
Hi! My page werkzeug-kasten.com is not ranking the way it should for "Webdesign Freiburg" on google Germany. Although it receives an A it is only seen on page 2 although the competition is not that hard. Do you have any ideas why that is and what I could improve? Best regards Marc

Blog content and panda?
If we want to create a blog to keep in front of our customers (via email and posting on social) and the posts will be around 300 - 1000 words like this site http://www.solopress.com/blog/ are we going to be asking for a panda slap as the issue would be the very little shares and traction after the first day or two. Also would panda only affect the blogs that are crap if we mix in a couple of really good posts or would it affect theses as well and possibly even the site? Any help would be appreciated.

How to Fix Duplicate Page Content?
Our latest SEOmoz crawl reports 1138 instances of "duplicate page content." I have long been aware that our duplicate page content is likely a major reason Google has de-valued our Web store. Our duplicate page content is the result of the following: 1. We sell audio books and use the publisher's description (narrative) of the title. Google is likely recognizing the publisher as the owner / author of the description and our description as duplicate content. 2. Many audio book titles are published in more than one format (abridged, unabridged CD, and/or unabridged MP3) by the same publisher so the basic description on our site would be the same at our Web store for each format = more duplicate content at our Web store. Here's are two examples (one abridged, one unabridged) of one title at our Web store. Kill Shot - abridged Kill Shot - unabridged How much would the body content of one of the above pages have to change so that a SEOmoz crawl does NOT say the content is duplicate?

What Makes Good Content for Category Pages
Hello, We're putting (roughly, depending on the category) 500 words under the products or categories under category pages. We're having a writer do these who has to learn the products from scratch. With over 100 categories, it's not possible for the client to write 500 words for each one. We're wondering, 1. What should go into a category description? 2. How do you prep a writer to write these, and is it possible to do so and get good content? I'm afraid that we're writing just words for long tails, and I know on the product pages, home page, and articles that it has to be the best content, probably written by the client himself if he is knowledgable enough. Open to your suggestions on what should be in these, how long they should be, and who should write them.

Why is a page with a noindex code being indexed?
I was looking through the pages indexed by Google (with site:www.mywebsite.com) and one of the results was a page with "noindex, follow" in the code that seems to be a page generated by blog searches. Any ideas why it seems to be indexed or how to de-index it?
