How to do A/B testing without creating two separate url like google analytic experiment?
-
Hello Experts,
I want to do A/B testing for my page. In google analytic experiment we have to create two pages 1) Original Page 2) Variant 1 but I don't want to go in this method that is I donot want to create two pages is it possible only via one page but two different events or something else ? If yes then which is the best tool?
Thanks!
Wrigths!

Hi Martijn,
Is it possible via google tag manager?
Thanks!

Hi
Yeah, I have used quite a few tools.
My personal favourite is HP autonomy, you get the full management team, they help set up the test, do the analysis, suggest tests etc. It's a wonderful service, but it comes with a high price.
Something similar which is slightly cheaper is www.optimizely.com again these are more the enterprise end but do offer a free 30-day trial. It might be worth looking into these two, they may offer a self-service option.
Some more reasonable price platforms that target mid-size companies.
One of my clients I have just taken on uses unbounce and while I haven't yet manage to use their solution. I did get one of their reps at Mozcon to show me the platform - looking forward to using it. Seems like a very very good platform for the price.
With most of this software it's all about what you do. You have the find the test, set them up and analyse them, but so long as your putting in good tests you will get great results.
If you use the Adobe stack they offer A/B testing suite.
Also, there is Maxymiser its been a few years since I used it, but was good at the time and it's probably evolved since.
There are loads of options to choose from. If you use a platform like Shopify or Wordpress it might be worth while seeing which ones of these integrates with your current site to make your life easier. While this article from Mashable is pretty old it does cover some good platforms and some I've never heard of but might be worth checking out: http://mashable.com/2015/01/30/ab-testing-tools/
Thanks

Try this, with this you can do the same with Google Content Experiments without creating multiple pages. You do everything through JavaScript: https://developers.google.com/analytics/devguides/collection/analyticsjs/experiments
It's unfortunately a lesser known feature of Content Experiments, although I would suggest to start using Google Optimize in the future.

Hi Jaume,
Thanks for your response!
But other than google and other than creating two separate pages is it possible via other method and tool?
Thanks!

Google is one of the best tools for what you want to do, but i think you have to create two versions of the page, Greetings

Confused about repeated occurences of URL/essayorg/topic/ showing up as 404 errors in our site logs
Working on a Wordpress website, https://thedoctorwithin.comScanning the site’s 404 errors, I’m seeing a lot of searches for URL/essayorg/topic, coming from Bingbot, as well as other spiders (Google, OpensiteExlorer). We get at least 200 of these irrelevant requests per week. Seems like each topic that follows /essayorg/ is unique. Some include typos: /dissitation/Haven't done a verification to make sure the spiders are who they say they are, yet.Almost seems like there are many links ‘in the wild’ intended for Essay.Org that are being directed towards the site I’m working on.I've considered redirecting any requests for URL/essayorg/ to our sitemap… figuring that might encourage further spidering of actual site content. Is redirection to our sitemap xml file a good idea, or might doing so have unintended consequences? Interested in suggestions about why this might be occurring. Thank you.

Google only indexed 19/94 images
I'm using Yoast SEO and have images (attachments) excluded from sitemaps, which is the recommended method (but could this be wrong?). Most of my images are in my posts; here's the sitemap for posts: https://edwardsturm.com/post-sitemap.xml I also appear on p1 for some good keywords, and my site is getting organic traffic, so I'm not sure why the images aren't being indexed. Here's an example of a well performing article: https://edwardsturm.com/best-games-youtube-2016/ Thanks!

URL Format
Often we have web platforms that have a default URL structure that looks something like this www.widgetcompany.co.uk/widget-gallery/coloured-widgets/red-widgets This format is quite well structured but would it just be more effective to be www.widgetcompany.co.uk/red-widgets? I realise that it may depend on a lot of factors but generally is it better to have the shorter URL if targeting the key phrase "red widgets" One thing, it certainly looks a bit keyword stuffy with all those "widgets"

Penalization for Duplicate URLs with %29 or "/"
Hi there - Some of our dynamically generated product URLs somehow are showing up in SEOmoz as two different URLs even though they are the same page- one with a %28 and one with a 🙂 e.g., http://www.company.com/ProductX-(-etc/ http://www.company.com/ProductX-(-etc/ Also, some of the URLs are duplicated with a "/" at the end of them. Does Google penalize us for these duplicate URLs? Should we add canonical tags to all of them? Finally, our development team is claiming that they are not generating these pages, and that they are being generated from facebook/pinterest/etc. which doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me. Is that right? Thanks!

Duplicate Content from Google URL Builder
Hello to the SEOmoz community! I am new to SEOmoz, SEO implementation, and the community and recently set up a campaign on one of the sites I managed. I was surprised at the amount of duplicate content that showed up as errors and when I took a look in deeper, the majority of errors were caused by pages on the root domain I put through Google Analytics URL Builder. After this, I went into webmaster tools and changed the parameter handling to ignore all of the tags the URL Builder adds to the end of the domain. SEOmoz recently recrawled my site and the errors being caused by the URL Builder are still being shown as duplicates. Any suggestions on what to do?
