Google Search Console Block
-
Am new to SEO.
My clients site was completed using Yoast premium and then used Google search console to initiate the crawl.
Initially setup an http:// property and all seemed good. Then i removed that under search console an created an https:// did the render and it appears google has put a block and placed their own robots.txt file which basically has rendered the site useless.
Feedback most appreciated.

what is interesting is that i can see that all the individual pages are good in terms of displaying in the browser correctly except the "home" page.

No problem, good luck! Moz has plenty of great resources to help you along the way. Be sure to check out the beginners guide to SEO.

Ok looks like I have work to do so will focus on these things now...
I was trying to create a rather flat layout with the pages as there are only a few; however; I do have a "services" page and will put the internal links between home page and services and then incorporate that page into the process.
I believe that it could be a wise investment for me at this stage to step back and get Yoast further involved and do a "Gold Review" on the site... this should fill in the gaps and raise my SEO knowledge.
Really appreciate the feedback...

Responses to the first 3 questions:
- HTTPS is in place, but a redirect is not in place to push HTTP to HTTPS
- Ok good, keep all Search Console profile intact, it's a good way to identify problems specifically as they relate to HTTP and HTTPS indexing (you don't want both to show)
- This search, site:albertaautosales.com. As you can see when you click that link, you've only got a few URLs indexed, 2 for the homepage, with and without HTTPS.
Now that I have the domain, I see a few problems.
- You have no internal linking - Screaming Frog will not go beyond the homepage. Upon further inspection, the only internal link I saw on the homepage was to a dead URL
- Google isn't creating a robots.txt file for you, there's just nothing for them to crawl as a result of my previous point.
- I cannot view your source code, if I can't see it, chances are Google can't either.
If this currently live version of the site is placeholder for development, I'd recommend putting the old site back out there and working on the new site in a development environment.

Hi Logan;
Thanks for reply...
the site is -- https://albertaautosales.com
-
Yes the HTTPS has been setup correctly and is active with no issues on all pages.
-
Yes I realize now that i could have left the http profile. It actually had a complete status and was ranking my key word phrases (also setup a campaign in Moz). I did activate it again however now shows blank pages even though the status is complete.

not sure if I get your question 3. Prior to removing and setting up the https profile the site was fine and the google ranking process was occuring...
I have created a help ticket for Google under the Search Console but no idea how prompt they are on responding. Site is simply down just showing some images. From what i can see Google blocked it by applying a very restrictive robots.txt file... but not sure as I am new to this.
Appreciate

Hi David,
I've got a few questions before I can provide any advice.
- Is the site using HTTPS everywhere?
- Why shut down the HTTP Search Console profile? You should always have all four versions of your domain setup in SC - http/https and www/non-www.
- Have you done a site:domain.com search in Google to verify indexation?

Advice needed: Google crawling for single page applicartions with java script
Hi Moz community,we have a single page application (enjoywishlist.com) with a lot of content in java script light boxes. There is a lot of valuable content embedded but google can not crawl the content and we can missing out on some opportunities as a result. I was wondering if someone was able to solve a similar issue (besides moving the content from the java script to the HTML body). There appears to be a few services sprouting up to handle single page applications and crawling in google.http://getseojs.com/https://prerender.io/Did anyone use these services? Some feedback would be much appreciated!ThanksAndreas

Can you recommend a responsive web design company of template to accommodate mobile searches
I need to change my old Dreamweaver website www.endeavourcottage.co.uk into a responsive website that can be viewed and used easily on mobile phones. Four years ago when the site was originally built it was one cottage on one basic website but it's grown into a small letting agency with several properties, so I think it's time to invest in a fully functional website. Looking at Google analytics around the fifth of the searches and now done on a mobile phone each month on this particular site, and obviously that's going to become a larger percentage in the future. Does anybody know of a particular company that can produce good quality responsive websites? Or alternatively used a particular responsive website template which was good. One of the guys that work for me is quite a good web designer if we got the right template. The old website is grown into quite a large beast with a blog so I think the idea would be to change the main pages with the properties on, just linking back to the old websites quite extensive blog / historical interest pages which I've built over the last few years. I need to keep the old blog webpages indexed because they have hundreds of back links coming with longtail keywords producing traffic. Have you gone through the process of changing your main business website for a resonsive redesign recently and how did you approach it?

Google News we were dropped and need help finding ot why
Hi i have a site called in2town lifestyle magazine http://www.in2town.co.uk/ and up until two months ago we were with google news and for a long time. But then all of a sudden we were dropped which left us with no confidence about our site and led us to make changes to the site, some good and some bad to try and find out what was wrong with our site and why we were dropped. We have now been concentrating on sorting the site out which has led in a drop in traffic due to not updating it as we should because we are more concerned in trying to make it a quality lifestyle magazine and get back in google as well as making it a good experience for our readers.. I would like your help and finding out what you feel is wrong with our site so we can then work on it and change it and try and find out what went wrong with google news. we have spent years on the site but now we have gone in the wrong direction because we were more worried about google news. If you can advise us on how we should change the site and sort the site out and make it into the professional site it was once more then that would be great.

Our office has a number of people performing analysis and research on keyword positions, volume, competition etc. We have 1 external static IP address. We installed the static IP so we can filter out our visits in Google Analytics. However by 10 AM we get impssible CAPTCHA's or even get blocked in Google. Do you have any experience with such an issue? Any solutions you can recommend? Any help would be appreciated! SXI5A.png
