Duplicate content report - question on best practice

Hello all, New to MOZ Pro and SEO - so lots to get my head round!

I’m working through the Duplicate Content section of the Crawl report and am not sure what the best practice is for my situation.

Background: We are a reference guide for luxury hotels around the world, but the hotels that are featured on the site vary year on year.

When we add a new hotel page, it sets up the url as ourwebsite.com/continent/country/regionORcity/hotel.

When the hotels come off, I redirect their URL to the country or region where we have other hotels.

Example: http://www.johansens.com/europe/switzerland/zermatt/

The hotel in Zermatt has come off the site, showing 0 results on this landing page.

Question: My duplicate content report is showing a number of these regional pages that are displaying the copy “0 places - Region’ because the hotel has come off, but the landing page is still live.

Should I redirect the regional page back to the main country page? And then if I add a new hotel to the site from that region in the future, simply remove the redirect?

Should I also delete the page?

Any tips would be much appreciated!

Duplicate Content: Marketing Page / Content Page

So I am getting duplicate content warnings on my website for my pages white paper and webinar video pages. Each white paper / webinar video page is behind a marketing form page that must be filled out. I am getting a lot of warnings that the marketing page and the content page are being picked up as duplicated content. In the past, both the marketing page and the content page were given the same title and url, the body content is not similar. My question: Is the URL / Title similarity enough to set off the duplicate content warnings and would changing one or the other solve the issue?

How do you explain this in this Keyword Difficulty Report?

Hello here, I am trying to understand how my site virtualsheetmusic.com can better compete for the keyword "sheet music download" where we used to be 3rd until a few months ago, and now we are at the 5th spot. But here is my specific question: I can't find an explanation why two of our competitors are ranked before us at the 3rd and 4th spot. Please, look at the attached image (very wide) which shows the Keyword Difficulty Report for this keyword. You can also download a PDF of it here below: http://www.virtualsheetmusic.com/storage/keyword-sheet-music-download.pdf We are at the 5th spot, and the two competitors highlighted in pink are the ones I am talking about: I am trying to understand why they are ranking better than us, despite our metrics look much better than theirs. In fact, if I look at the metrics in the report, I can't find an explanation to justify their outrank against us, so there must be something else that the report is missing. No page reports for one of my campaigns

Hi Everyone! so glad to be here, I had hardly visited the forum and been missing out. I have a client who hired me to set up their basic SEO for their website and I see no grades for the pages, at first I don't maybe the website was not being indexed but report shows it crawled 37 pages so what does it mean no grades what so ever, also showing now rankings, I put 30 to check and zilch. thank you.

Quarterly Reports Show Odd Data

I've pulled a quarterly report for a client, and it's showing very odd numbers. I'm monitoring 58 keywords - and the current keyword ranking report from last week says that there are 21 keywords in the top 3 and 33 on the first page. But the quarterly report says that there are 50 in the top 3 and 70 on the first page??? What's up with this?

A question about Mozbot and a recent crawl on our website.

Hi All, Rogerbot has been reporting errors on our website's for over a year now, and we correct the issues as soon as they are reported. However I have 2 questions regarding the recent crawl report we got on the 8th. 1.) Pages with a "no-index" tag are being crawled by roger and are being reported as duplicate page content errors. I can ignore these as google doesnt see these pages, but surely roger should ignore pages with "no-index" instructions as well? Also, these errors wont go away in our campaign until Roger ignores the URL's. 2.) What bugs me most is that resource pages that have been around for about 6 months have only just been reported as being duplicate content. Our weekly crawls have never picked up these resources pages as being a problem, why now all of a sudden? (Makes me wonder how extensive each crawl is?) Anyone else had a similar problem? Question About Moz Reports

Hey guys Is it possible to change the date/time that SEOmoz runs its ranking reports? I put together ranking reports each Monday which I need to feedback to the business and it would be good if I could schedule these for late Sunday or early Monday mornings for me coming in to the office.

OSE Link Report Question.

Hi, when i export a link report as a csv file via the export tool on OSE, there is a column in the exported table called "Numder of Link". Please explain me, what does this column says exactly. Its located between "Domain Authorithy" and "Number of Domains Linking to Domain". Thanx, Seb.

About Duplicate Content found by SEOMOZ... that is not duplicate

Hi folks, I am hunting for duplicate content based on SEOMOZ great tool for that 🙂 I have some pages that are mentioned as duplicate but I cant say why. They are video page. The content is minimalistic so I guess it might be because all the navigation is the same but for instance http://www.nuxeo.com/en/resource-center/Videos/Nuxeo-World-2010/Nuxeo-World-2010-Presentation-Thierry-Delprat-CTO and http://www.nuxeo.com/en/resource-center/Videos/Nuxeo-World-2010/Nuxeo-World-2010-Presentation-Cheryl-McKinnon-CMO are mentioned as duplicate.
