How to Reduce the spam score of the website?
-
Some websites are designed and marketed in such a way as to only please the search engines for a short time. They end up with spammy link profiles that have little no worth. Google does not want to spend time and resources on sites with bad link profiles. Have you ever come across a great domain name that nobody wants? There is a reason that a good-sounding domain is still available; this is because previous owners were very likely to be spammers while this isn't always the case most of the time it really usually is the case. These domains are called Churn-and-Burn domains they are undesirable, to say the least. If you are or have bought a domain name like this it's always best to get a backlink audit done on the domain and then disavow any toxic links.
-
Thanks for the tip
-
even my same concern also. I purchased a domain 3 yr ago and just live on the host without any content. it's showing a 56 spam score.
-
@dv123569 Well the first thing to do would be to stop spamming just like you have here!
That would be a very good start
-
Don't worry about the spam score. It's just a third-party metric google does not consider it. If you want to reduce your spam score, then google has its own disavow tool to identify links from any 3rd party tools and disavow it. Recently someone created links on my site [https://unit52.pk/], and I use the Google disavow tool
-
Hi there,
Please start by investigating what is triggering these Spam Score flags on your, or your client's site. To start making improvements please review the factors that make up spam score, and then I would recommend that you prioritise what improvements you can make on your own site and its features, setup, and content with minimal disruption.Best of luck!

Hi there!
First off, we do not recommend disavowing backlinks unless you have a Google penalty. Disavowing is unlikely to improve your Spam Score and, as you've experienced, can affect your site's authority and have wider implications. Before disavowing please review Google documentation, if you see adverse affects you may want to consider removing the disavow.
If you're working on improving Spam Score on your client's site then it is worth explaining that Spam Score reflects features on your site that may correlate with spammy sites. So you will need to investigate what is triggering these Spam Score flags on your client's site and figure out whether there is any room for improvement. The end goal isn't to reduce spam score to 0, but to identify areas for improvement It may be worth exploring your client's competitor's Spam Score to set expectations.
I hope this helps give you some ideas on how to progress! Do let me know how you get on -
Ill give this to you straight up.
It's as simple as this. Spam score is not something Google looks at. For many years now Google's AI is designed to totally ignore bad links. So instead of penalising a site for spammy links they just ignore them.
Why?
Okay check this out.
Google has become a little bit more fair. They have no way of telling if the website owner built the spammy links or if it was some kind of negative SEO attack. So they decided the best thing to do was to just ignore bad links and not take them into consideration.
If you are still concerned about a certain kind of link you can use the Google disavow links tool.
One thing to note when using this tool. Beware. Make sure you know exactly what you are doing with it. You could actually decrease your search engine position if used incorrectly.
Second thing to note. Only use the file upload with this tool once ever 40 days as it make take up to 40 days for Google to crawl your file upon each request. So if you use it on day one and then use it again on day 15 it will reset the time it takes for the disavow file to be crawled again.
There is nothing to worry about in regards to having a high spam score in terms of SERP. It's just a link quality indication.
Hope that clears things up everything for everyone

Hi there!
Please note that Spam Score updates quarterly, so any changes you've made to the features on your site that correspond to Spam Score flags won't update immediately.I hope this helps!

Hi there! @alisajoycee
Looking in Link Explorer I can see that your Spam Score is 5%, anything under 30% is considered low, and the end goal isn't to get to 0, but rather to identify areas of your site that can be improved
Please take a look at our guide on investigating spam score.
It’s important to remember that Spam Score is NOT a measurement of the spamminess of links pointing to your site. It is NOT dependent on your backlink profile but instead represents the percentage of sites with similar features to the site you’re researching which we've found to be penalized or banned by Google.I hope this helps!

@sivakonireddy_y
Hii,I'm also working on one website which is related to health news. Since 2015 its spam score is 1% which is considered to be a low spam score.
Generally, when you start with a fresh and new website. It will show the 1% spam score. However, if your new website shows a spam score of more than 10% then look at the 27 factors or signals to determine spam score by moz.

@designbump Hi there!
A score of 1%-30% is considered a Low Spam Score. If you look at the 27 factors or signals we use to determine Spam Score (https://moz.com/help/link-explorer/link-building/spam-score#spam-score-signals)
There are two that may be impacted by the quantity of outbound links:
20. Number of External Outlinks Spam sites are more likely to have abnormally high or low external outlinks.- Number of Domains Linked-To Spam sites are more likely to have abnormally high or low unique domains to which they link.
However these are just two of 27 factors that are considered as part of Spam Score.
Spam Score represents the percentage of sites with similar features to the site you’re researching which we've found to be penalized or banned by Google. Spam Score is based on our machine learning model which identified 27 common features among the millions of banned or penalized sites in the data we fed it.
It's best used in the context of reviewing the overall quality of your site so that it best serves your users.
If you do make changes please note that Spam Score is updated quarterly, however we don't currently have an exact date of when the next update is due.
I hope this helps!

@saeedroshan Spam Score represents the percentage of sites with similar features to the site you’re researching which we've found to be penalized or banned by Google. Spam Score is based on our machine learning model which identified 27 common features among the millions of banned or penalized sites in the data we fed it.
A score of 1%-30% is considered a Low Spam Score.
A score of 31%-60% is considered a Medium Spam Score.
A score of 61%-100% is considered a High Spam Score.
A high Spam Score for your site, or a site you're looking at, doesn't mean this site is necessarily spammy, or doesn't have great backlinks. It's a sign that you should do some more investigation into the quality and relevance the features on the site you're investigating.

Does More Guest Posts Effect Website Rankings in a Negative Way?
Hello Everyone, On an average I am getting around 20 backlinks for 15 days. All these backlinks are done through proper outreach and guest posts in relevant websites. We have a team of four people doing only outreach and getting backlinks through proper guest posts. But I am worried on whether it will effect my website ranking in a negative way? Kindly get me clarified with my doubt. Should I continue this or should I reduce my numbers?

Should I interlink all the websites my company owns?
Our company has several websites where visitors can request quotes for home improvement. I'm thinking of making each site deeplink to each of our other sites, to create more linking domains and make all our sites help each other. Is this a good idea? Or will Google recognize that i'm only promoting our own websites and see this as a bad thing?

Creating a separate blog off our website
A while ago we purchased some domains that are related to our industry. I'm fairly sceptical about using them, but I am interested what peoples thoughts are. We are currently producing quite alot of engaging content and although it's industry related, it is sometimes quite broad and not always appropriate for our company blog. I have been debating whether or not it will be a good idea to use one of the domain names that we have purchased to create more of an industry blog that is off our website. I'm not sure if this is considered a "black hat" technique by using domains registered to us? And also whether or not Google will punish because we are blogging from the same IP address and linking back to our site ? I look forward to hearing what people think. Thanks,

How can I check a website to see if it is "nofollow"?
I'm a little new to SEO, so maybe this is obvious to some . . . I'm attempting to build backlinks by submitting articles, posting on forums etc. I just wrote my forst article for ezine and submitted it. I was feeling pretty good about myself until I mentioned it to someone trying to sell me their SEO services and he said that ezine articles are considered "nofollow" on all their links. Well, that was pretty frustrating to hear! It got me wondering, how many of these other sites have all their posts and blogs listed as "nofollow"? Is there a way for me to figure it out ahead of time? Obviously, there are only so many hours in the day and I would rather focus on posting on sites that will actually help me build backlinks! Thanks for your help in advance!
