Changing Ecommerce Site Display style will it impact on seo & performance?
-
Hello Expert,
Do redesign website will affect seo? At initial level drop in visitor, pageviews? Actually I am redesign my ecommerce site but we are not changing 1) url's 2) we are not changing content 3) we are not changing server 4) we are not changing navigation. We are changing display style at homepage, category page, subcategory page, product page, checkout step.
- So still it will impact on website visitors & pageviews? 2) How google will react on int 3) How visitor will react?
Thanks!

The H1s will affect Google.
H1s directly affect SEO as it drives how relevant your page is for that keyword. As to whether it would positively or negatively affect SEO is unknown until you do it and depends on the keywords you're targeting and whether the new H1 is better or worse than the new one.
Google doesn't particularly care about the other headings too much - as long as they are logical from a user point of view they get bulked into 'content' in terms of SEO rules for relevancy/keyword stuffing etc.
The tracking won't affect SEO, but internal linking will affect SEO. If you're linking more to category A for example as compared to the old site linking to category B, then this will give Google a signal that you're site is more relevant to category A terms than B. This goes hand in hand with external linking to give signals to Google.
Hope that helps.

Hi All,
Thanks for your responses.
But there will be change in header tags h1 till h6, there will be change in tracking for all pages like buttons, signup, click etc so will that create any issue to google?
Thanks!

Depending on your design, it could impact SEO.
Sure, the nuts and bolts of what drives SEO is content, meta etc, but so is customer experience. In fact that's becoming MORE important than ever before as a ranking signal. If you're improving customer experience to keep people on your site for longer, then you could find that your rankings increase as a result.
Equally, the reverse could happen if the new designs are more confusing than the last - or cause people to pogo-stick from your site to the next one.
I'd always suggest to TEST IT if you can! Test any new design element using Google Optimize, or Google Analytics A/B testing as examples of a free solutions to see how customers behave with the new design. Only then will you know, for your customers whether the designs will help to decrease bounce rate, increase conversions etc.
That, or you'll just have to make a leap of faith and keep an eye on analytics post-launch.

as Alick300 says it wouldn't affect your SEO, my main expertise is conversion rate working with optimizely, crazyegg, unbounce ect. Base on my experience just when you have a really ugly, old and you will not see a big difference.

Hi,
On the basis of my experience it won't. I did for my website but one thing is important here checkout step must be smooth otherwise abandonment rate could go high.
***I have shared only my case. I would suggest you to wait for few more reply from other community members. ***
Thanks

Domain Masking SEO Impact
I hope I am explaining this correctly. If I need to provide any clarity please feel free to ask. We currently use a domain mask on an external platform that points back to our site. We are a non-profit and the external site allows users to create peer-to peer fundraisers that benefit our ministry. Currently we get many meta issues related to this site as well as broken links when fundraisers expire etc. We do not have a need to rank for the information from this site. Is there a way to index these pages so that they are not a part of the search engine site crawls as it relates to our site?

Transferring a site to wordpress and its effect on SEO
I have a site that is hosted on a very old platform and would like to move it to WordPress. We are a surf shop and the summer months are the busiest for us. I want like to make sure that if I transfer my site that it won't hurt our rankings in any way. What would the best way of doing this be? i.e start building the WordPress site and once it is finished, point the domain to it? Will this have any ramifications for our rank? Thank you!

Are links in menus to external sites bad for SEO?
We're building a blog on a subdomain of the main site. The main site is on Shopify and the blog will be on wordpress. I'd like to keep the user experience as simple as possible so I'd like to make the blog look exactly like the main Shopify site. This means having a menu in the blog that duplicates the Shopify menu. So is it bad for SEO to have someone click on the 'about us' button in the blog subdomain (blog.mainsite.com) which takes you to the 'about us page' on the main shopify website (mainsite.com)?

Site Change of Address - best method?
When changing domains, there's the obvious anxiety about sacrificing the value of your old domain. A client recently changed domains, immediately killed the old site (did everything properly with 301s, Webmaster Tools etc etc etc) and lost rankings completely for weeks. Turns out the site had been 'burnt' by the previous owner and it took a reconsideration request from Google before things recovered. Cost them rankings and cash with extra PPC spend. My question is: In order to avoid this potential hazard, what are your thoughts on submitting a change of address in Webmaster tools, but then leaving old site live for a few weeks to see how things pan out? I have never tried it and it seems to go against the grain, but interested to hear other people's experiences and how they have managed to change domain with minimal temporary damage. Thanks.
