Did you optimize images (make them smaller in size)? Is the traffic real? Spam hits will not utilize data like a real person on your site. Also google could be serving cached pages so the information is not as large as downloading your actual assets from your site.

Are you seeing less traffic or maybe the pages being visited have less content to download. Need more information to give you specific answers.

Homepage keeps disappearing and reappearing for important keywords every few days

My homepage keeps disappearing from the SERPS for my most important keywords. My home page has been in number 2 position for years. When the home page disappears it will not even show in a Google search for my business name although it is still indexed. When the home page is not showing an internal page shows instead but in position 6. When the home page is back the internal page does not show. There are no issues being reported in Google Webmaster. When I realise that it's down I do a fetch as Google and request reindexing. No idea if this is bringing it back or not? We are so worried about this and totally at a loss. Does anyone know of a Google update in the past few days?

Have seen a fairly substantial drop in Google search console, I'm still looking into it comparing things, but does anyone know if there's been a Google updates within the past few days? Or has anyone else noticed anything? Thanks

Why has my home page replaced my sub-category page for set of keywords? Happened 2x in last 2 weeks for day or so only to fix itself. What is going on?

Today I noticed a really weird problem. Our LED Step Lights page (https://www.pegasuslighting.com/led-step-lights.html) has been replaced in the search results with our home page. See screenshot below. As I started to research what was going on, I noticed that this same thing must have happened on January 26 and 27 because in my Analytics I can see that our LED Step Lights sub-cat page had a sudden drop in traffic on those two days only to bounce back again on the 28th. See screenshot below. Our LED Step Lights page has had no changes in content, meta information, or anything in months. We have done no recent link building to this page in years. I don't understand what is going on. This is a popular page for us generating decent traffic. I really don't understand what is going on or even how to try and resolve this problem. I checked our Search Console. No messages. No manual web spam actions. Nothing to suggest that anything is going on except for the weird drops in traffic. Has anyone ever seen this happen before? How to find all 404 deadlinks - webmaster only allows 1000 to be downloaded...

Hi Guys I have a question...I am currently working on a website that was hit by a spam attack. The website was hacked and 1000's of adult censored pages were created on the wordpress site. The hosting company cleared all of the dubious files - but this has left 1000's of dead 404 pages. We want to fix the dead pages but Google webmaster only shows and allows you to download 1000. There are a lot more than 1000....does any know of any Good tools that allows you to identify all 404 pages? Thanks, Duncan

Content Aggregation Site: How much content per aggregated piece is too much?

Let's say I set up a section of my website that aggregated content from major news outlets and bloggers around a certain topic. For each piece of aggregated content, is there a bad, fair, and good range of word count that should be stipulated? I'm asking this because I've been mulling it over—both SEO (duplicate content) issues and copyright issues—to determine what is considered best practice. Any ideas about what is considered best practice in this situation? Also, are there any other issues to consider that I didn't mention?

Would a sitewide link to a 1mb exe download harm rankings?

We're in a games market and we have a link on every page to our download. The link is an aspx but there is no downloadpage as such - clicking on the link triggers an executable download that is just less than one meg. We've been looking at the top results in our very competitive market and the top 8 don't seem to have a download. Coincidence or a real factor?

How much content on PDF download page

Hello, This is about content for an ecommerce site. We have an article page that we also created a PDF out of. We have an HTML page that doesn't have anything commercial on it that is the download page for the PDF page. How much of the article do you recommend we put on the non-commercial HTML download page? Should we put most of the article on there? We're trying to get people to link to the HTML Download page, not the PDF.
