Google+ Brand Account Separate from Google My Business
-
Hi everyone,
I tried to create a Google+ account from a client's Google My Business, but found that 'Enable Google+' is no longer available on the sidebar of the GMB dashboard. I used this tutorial to do that before - http://onlineownership.com/create-google-page-connected-google-business-page/
An update on that article:
Update: 31st October 2017
Google My Business has confirmed that enabling a G+ business page will no longer be available. Users will need to now create a G+ Brand page for their business on G+.My question is: If we create a separate G+ Brand page, are we still able to tie it up with GMB or are they going to be completely different platforms? On the dashboard for our older clients we have a list that goes like:
Your Business is Live on Google
- View on Search
- View on Maps
- View on Google+
In light of this new change. Do we still really have to bother creating G+ brand pages? It seems like the newly launched Google Posts is more user-friendly and easier to update. The posts could be created on GMB and it's going to appear on searches within the local knowledge graph. Thoughts?

They are indeed separated, to get your G+ page for your local listing to display in brandaccounts, create a new G+ page and use the exact URL you use for GMB. This will let Google know they are tied together.

Hi there, I found an answer to my question. Indeed, GMB and G+ are now two different entities and we no longer could create G+ from GMB. I found the following resources:
Use this link to start your G+ Brand page https://plus.google.com/brand
Manage G+ brand pages by switching from your avatar up on the right to "All your brand pages" or bookmark this link

Should I claim a non-local Google business listing?
If I have a business which is non-local, but has one location and is showing up with the address and directions already in the knowledge panel, should I claim the business? Eg: the company manufactures a single product and ships directly to customers all over the world. On the one hand, of course it seems I should claim it and get more control. On the other hand, part of that process is setting a service area and I worry that by doing so I may be making the company seem less relevant outside the service area in Google's eyes.

Ranking for a service website that offers to a large geographic region. Micro sites, one site, google ads, etc?
Hi there I currently have a client that has a service that offers to a wide metropolitan geographic region. Currently we offer location detection when they hit the site. I'm curious what the best method going forward would be. This client is coming from a PPC initially but I've sold them on a longer term goal with organic SEO (local) . So my question is what is the best method for ground up web creation when offering a service that services multiple areas within the same metropolitan region? Bonus questions anyone using Flat CMS's?

Google Local Feeds - Cover & Profile Photos??
Hello - I am trying to help a biz w several dozen locations with their Google+ local pages. However, I'm not sure automation is the best solution: https://support.google.com/business/answer/3370250?hl=en In particular: Can you stipulate a Cover Photo and Profile Photo via Google's automated feeds? I see that you can add "images", but not much more than that. Do we have to manually upload cover photo/avatar info? If it turns out we have to, IMHO would be totally worth it even if time-consuming, but just trying to figure out the balance between automation vs manual factors.

Data source of Google Maps in Japan
Hi There, Does any one know how to input data such as restaurants into Google Maps in Japan? Google Map Maker isn't supported in Japan and I can't find who the primary data suppliers are. I am looking to find out so I can improve my neighbourhood guide on an airbnb listing. It would be great to tell people the location of local shops and restaurants but can only add locations listed in Google maps which is limited for Kurokawa in Japan. Thanks Billy

Google Maps redirect notice on track-able URL's (how do I track maps visits in analytics?)
We've been using trackable URL's to track Google My Business visits in analytics for years.
Local Listings | | RedNovaLabs91
Example: ?utm_source=GoogleLocal&utm_medium=example&utm_campaign=example In the past month I've noticed Google showing a redirect notice on any listing with a trackable URL. It happened for a day or so a few weeks ago - and then it's been a more permanent situation since this past week. Redirect Notice
The previous page is sending you to: www.example.com
If you do not want to visit that page, you can return to the previous page. I'm fine with removing the trackable URL's - however - I'm not sure how to track maps visits via analytics without using them. I can't find any updated information on options. The last post on moz was in 2011 (http://moz.com/blog/tracking-traffic-from-google-places-in-google-analytics). The alternate tactics in that post no longer work. So my question is:
- How do I track Google Maps (My Business) visits through analytics without using tracking URLs?1 -

NAPtastic: Google updated G+ page to "correct" street spelling, but not Maps
A client's G+ page updated from "Jimmy" to "Jimmie" Rd. The change is technically correct according to the legal county road name, though the Places, G+, and indeed even the printed inscription on the Google map itself all say "Jimmy." So, too, does virtually all of the NAP instances around the web. Question - should we update Business Registration Managers with the updated address info and assume the Google change will also eventually filter to other Google assets, or make no changes? Weird, right? Here's the Place: https://www.google.com/maps/place/Georgia+Square+Collision/@33.9357517,-83.4885575,17z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m2!3m1!1s0x0:0x57927ad08d139333 Thanks!
