Negative SEO attack, just keep disavowing?
-
Hello,
Around 2 months ago someone started a negative SEO campaign against us. Each week in Majestic around 50-60 domains appear (all .biz or .eu) which link to our site in hidden code via the exact match keyword. Now luckly nothing has happened to our rankings, as i have been disavowing all those links as soon as they appear in Majestic. (google only shows a few of them, and Google webmaster forum told me that google only shows a "sample of links" and that we should disavow as soon as we see)
So only thing for me is to monitor majestic each week and keep on disavowing. I think there are almost 250 domains to this date i have disavowed. Or should i still only disavow those that google shows? (I think not, as those are "sample links")

Hi Richard,
Definitely, you shouldn't worry about spammy links. As you keep spotting them, throw that list into the disavow file.

I've got over 5000 in my disavow file. When it all started I tried to keep up with it, auditing my GWT links and using AHREFS. I finally stopped doing it. Some of the targeted pages are still doing good in the SERPs but its always in the back of my mind these those spammy links are holding the site back some. While for several years there was steady growth in traffic, that growth has slowed significantly. I think it is partly due to more competition in my niche and some dirty rotten scoundrel building those spammy links to my site.

In my opinion those are 2 different things, one is diminishing its linkjuice and onother is showing that website backlinks in the Search Console profile.

Yes, they say don't worry, but in our case many bad domains shows up in google website link profile, so it looks like they get through their algorithms and need to be disavow manually.

We are in the same boat; one of our website has been hit with negative SEO for at least last 6 month. Every week we have been getting links from bad domains(we use ahrefs to identify them), all kinds… some even disturbing. They link to home page, specific landing page or some link to images. We are currently having almost 1000 bad domains in google disavow tool.

Hi advertisingtech,
Yeap, as lon as you clearly identify those links as spammy and/or really harmful.
Google said (through their people) several times that you should not worry THAT much about spammy links, today's algorithms are really good at detecting and not considering them.
The latest resource: Glenn Gabe tweet_1 and Tweet_2. Also useful to watch that whole Webmasters Office-hours HangoutAlso just a reminder, do not rely only in one tool, try to (if possible) complementate with other tools, such as ahrefs, SEMrush, Moz OpensiteExplorer or others.
Hope it helps.
Best luck.

Moving to TLS and disavow file
I'm considering the move to TLS/SSL obviously will be setting up the version in Search Console, do I need to re-upload the disavowal file previously generated before the move? Look forward to your response.

SEO trending down after adding content to website
Hi
Technical SEO | | swat1827
Looking for some guidance. I added about 14 pages of unique content and did all of the on page SEO work using Yoast - have 'good' status on all of them some of the website architecture was changed - mainly on one page. That being said, we got a significant bump the day I implemented, however every day thereafter we have had very bad results. Worse than we had before for about 3 days now. I did resubmit the updated sitemap to GWT and I'm showing no crawl errors. Also, curious if my Robots.txt file could be the issue. All it contains is User-agent: *

Mutiple domains with similar SEO
ok we have one main domain about our company which is about renting luxury and exotic cars. (PrestigeLuxuryRentals.com). We own other domains with similar keywords, meta, etc on the URL and SEO For example, we own domains like exoticcarrentalorlando/exoticcarrentaltampa, with same background and design as main site but, we have different content than main site to avoid duplicate. Keep in mind, all the other domain we own, all have same template with our companies name on it but, it doesnt have any content or link that pertains to main site. is this a problem?

Hello everybody 🙂 I know, that some years ago it was important that you host your site in the same country where your target audience was in relation to SEO. Because Google used that to find out which country your target audience was. But is this still important and have it an influence today regarding to SEO? Hope there is someone who can help 🙂

Negative effect on google SEO with 301's?
Cleaning up the website by consolidating pages - each with a little bit of useful info - into one definitive page that is really useful and full of good content. Doing 301's from the many old pages to the one new really good one. Didn't want to do rel canonicals because I don't want the old pages around, I want to get rid of them. Will google see the 301s and go nuts or see that there is one definitive, really good page with no duplicate content? The change is very good from a user perspective. Also, On-Page Report Cards on SEOMoz suggests that you put a rel canonical on a page to itself to tell google that this page is the definitive page. What do you think? Thanks so much for anyone who has time to answer - so many gurus - this is a great forum. - jean

Best Joomla SEO Extensions?
My website is a Joomla based website. My designer is good, but I don't think he knows that much about SEO . . . so I doubt if he added any extensions that can assist with SEO. I assume there are some good ones that can help my site. Does anyone know what/which Joomla extensions are must haves?

Huge and sudden fall in SEO traffic
Hi, I’m writing you because we have noticed in Google Analytics account, a huge fall in the SEO traffic of mywebsite, starting suddenly in one precise day. The difference between this day and the previous one is: -46,36% . Traffic has fallen in all parts of the site in the same way. Some details: - we did not make any relevant change to the website - we haven’t been banned by Google (or we don’t have any message about it in GWT) - the number of the landing pages remains approximately the same - the number of indexed keywords falls from 9.000 to 4.000. - around 2 weeks ago we found out around 120 pages with 404 error, but the error now is solved and the pages are currently working we open the content to Google about 4 months but still we have not published our Site Map. I know that the 404 error could could affect the indexation, but do you have any other idea, apart of this, of what could have happened? Thanks!
