Https to http
-
Two versions of the same page are being served at the moment. Certain pages on the site redirect to the https version whilst others don't. I am being flagged for duplicate content because of this. Is this a simple fix? As in just redirect all to the https version and set the preferred version in WMT?

Hey Gaston,
Thank you for your reply.
Yes, that makes sense to me!
All fixed now.

Yes, I agree. It was an error on the dev teams part that has now been fixed.
Thank you!

Hello there,
Remember, https and http versions are different sites for google, so serving some part as http and some other as https is incorrect and misleads googleBot.
Yes, you should have only one version. Either all in http or https, NOT BOTH!Simple? no migration is simple. Talk to your dev team or hire one to do it properly.
And ofcourse, after everything is done, verify the new HTTPs version in Search Console.Take a look on these three articles. They will really help you.

You'd see more value out of a proper full SSL installation than troubleshooting or implementing a healthy setup for mixed URLs IMO.

Canonical Tags Before HTTPS MIgration
Hi Guys I previously asked a question that was helpfully answered on this forum, but I have just one last question to ask. I'm migrating a site tomorrow from http to https. My one question is that it was mentioned that I may need to "add canonical tags to the http pages, pointing to their https equivalent prior to putting the server level redirect in place. This is to ensure that you won't be causing yourself issues if the redirect fails for any reason." This is an e-commerce site with a number of links, is there a quick way of doing this? Many Thanks

Http vs https: which is better for seo / usability
Hi All, Firstly thank you for taking the time to look. My dilemma is as follows; I have a site on wordpress that I have added an ssl certificate to and the entire domain is secure. The site has a mix of content including a blog area and product pages. My question is what does Google prefer, http or https or does it not matter As i see it my option is to keep the entire site as https and enforce this sitewide so all non secure content redirects to the https version or i could enforce https just in the cart and or product pages, all other content, homepage, blog, about us, contact us etc would be http. From an seo perspective ie google search engine, is their a best way to proceed? Finally, as i currently have http and https both displaying ie duplicate, what would be the way to fix this, i have yoast plugin so can set the canonical there and can also edit my robot.txt. I have come across this resource (http://www.creare.co.uk/http-vs-https-duplicate-content) and am wondering if this guideline is still correct or is there another more current way, if so I would be grateful if you could point me in the right direction. thanks in advance.

My keyword is "Kitchen Remodeling" http://www.tandmkitchens.com scores an A http://tandmkitchens.com scores a B It's the same page yet one url scores higher than the other. Any help! Thanks

Https redirect
Hi there, a client of mine is asking me if Google would penalize to redirect from all the http urls to https (they want to change the security protocol). I assume it is going to work as a classic 301, right? so they might lose some authority in they way, but I am not 100% sure. Can anyone confirm this? does anyone has a similar experience? thanks a lot!
