I know number 1 is a big company but a few weeks back it was behind.

Could someone let me why the number 1 is above number 2.

Doesn't number 2 answer the people's questions ? what could be missing ?

Thank you for your feedback, I agree it is thought to beat tripadvisor but I am confident you can with good content.

I think you would have a very tough job beating Tripadvisor. It's enormous!

Maybe with some self-hosted transcribed videos and a ton of backlinks!

Tripadvior has 12.1m backlinks from 70k domains (SEMrush) so you will have a very tough job indeed.

I'd concentrate on making the page more appealing and satisfying specific intent as much as possible.

Really tough though! Congratulations on getting top 4 though - excellent job!

Reasonable Time to Code Pop Up Forms in Wordpress?

My firm (a real estate brokerage) works with an offshore Argentinian developer who is generally very reliable and efficient. We have requested that three pop-up forms be implemented. The pop-up forms appear once visitors see a fixed number of property listings. Visitors will see form #1 after viewing three listings, form #2 after seeing another 3 listings and form #3 after another three listings. The pop-ups are in the form of a question. If the visitor clicks "Yes" the pop-up expands into a form, the visitor fills in the contact info and subsequent forms no longer appear. I have attached mock ups for the pop-up and the expanded pop-up. I am concerned about the 9 hours of programming time to implement these pop-ups. Is this excessive or is it reasonable? For me, it seems like this would be pretty quick and standardized to accomplish with a Wordpress plugin. But maybe with testing and other tasksI am wrong. I would appreciate some feedback on this. I do not want to underpay or overpay my developer. But I would feel reassured knowing that they are working productively and accomplishing tasks in a reasonable amount of time. Specs provided by my developer below: | 1- We have to implement the popup (based on approved mockup)
2- We need to implement the form to be included into each popups (3) and validate proper data
3- we need complete the logic for cookies's status.

Cannot find reason for drop in ranking

One of our clients is a lingerie retailer, that also sells swimwear and nightwear. They have a webshop, with landing pages such as /lingerie, /swimwear and /nightwear (only in Dutch). The nightwear page is doing ok (#5 in Google NL), but for the swimwear and lingerie pages, something strange has happened and I have no clue what it is. On May 7, the /swimwear page ranked 24 for swimwear in Google NL. In that period, the homepage was ranking at #40-50. One week later, on May 14, the homepage was ranked 24 for swimwear, and the /swimwear page was nowhere to be found. The homepage is currently ranking 17/18 for swimwear. Something similar seems to have happened for lingerie. The homepage was ranking at around 11-13 for a few weeks in April/May, the /lingerie page was ranking at 8 in May, and then after the 4th of June, both the homepage and the /lingerie page no longer seem to have any decent rank for lingerie. So, trying to find the problem: I checked the Moz On-Page Grader for all three pages/keywords. All pages get an A. Robots.txt hardly contains anything, and there's no robots meta tag to block the page. Checked Google Webmaster Tools just in case, nothing out of the ordinary. The page contains 342 URL's which is a lot, but that shouldn't be too problematic, I thought? I used the Moz Keyword Difficulty Tool to analyze the current top 10 for lingerie, and compared it to our client's stats. Page Authority in the top 10 is 37-68, our clients is 33. Domain Authority in the top 10 is 27-100 (wiki page), our clients is 43. MozRank for the top 10 is 6,6-8,0, our clients is 6,7. MozTrust for the top 10 is 7,0-7,1, our clients is 7,0. The basics all look fine! Now, the page could use some link building, the number of links is a little low compared to the top 10 entries. We're also in the process of redesigning the page, adding more products but also more content (text and images) to inspire visitors a little more. But being low on links doesn't seem a good explanation for such a relatively sudden change in ranking. As far as we can tell, looking back at commits by our developers, nothing changed around that time that could have this impact. Of course it's possible that we missed something, we're still looking. Also, it's strange that these sudden changes took place for swimwear and especially lingerie, but not for nightwear. I'd really appreciate any tips, hints etc. to find out what's going on here. Being Outranked But Don't Know Why!

My client, Comprehensive OBGYN of the Palm Beaches, is being outranked by two sites that have lower DA/PA and seemingly inferior on-page work for the term "palm beach obgyn". https://www.google.com/search?q=palm+beach+obgyn&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a Our site is comprehensiveobgyn.net The two sites beating us are "obgynpalmbeach.com" and "obgynspb.com" My only thought is the exact match domain factor may be coming into play a bit, but It doesn't seem like it should make THIS much of a difference. Any thoughts?

There's NO reason these sites should be beating mine...Or is there?

Hi Over the past 10 months, my internal page rankings (previously excellent) have plummeted. I'm now trying to recover them. I haven't received an unnatural links warning in Google Webmaster Tools. Also, I used to have hundreds of internal links to each of these 21 pages using the same exact-match anchor text eg, Tuscany real estate, Umbria real estate, etc. I changed this about 6 months ago. So why am I still ranking poorly for these (only moderately competitive keywords) behind sites with poorer metrics? 1) Keyword: lake como real estate My page here – **http://tinyurl.com/d34k8m ** -- used to rank No1 or No2 neck-and-neck with this page www.immobiliarevacanzelago.com/. He's still No1 but I’m down to about No13. Yet when I look in Open Site Explorer virtually all my metrics beat his.

Outranking a crappy outdated site with domain age & keywords in URL.

I'm trying to outrank a website with the following: Website with #1 ranking for a search query with "City & Brand" Domain Authority - 2 Domain Age - 11 years & 9 months old Has both the City & brand in the URL name. The site is crap, outdated.. probably last designed in the 90's, old layouts, not a lot of content & NO keywords in the titles & descriptions on all pages. My site ranks 5th for the same keyword.. BEHIND 4 pages from the site described above. Domain Authority - 2 Domain Age - 4 years & 2 months old Has only the CITY in the URL. Brand new site design this past year, new content & individual keywords in the titles, descriptions on each page. My main question is.... do you think it would be be beneficial to buy a new domain name with the BRAND in the URL & CITY & 301 redirect my 4 year old domain to the new domain to pass along the authority it has gained. Will having the brand in the URL make much of a difference? Do you think that small step would even help to beat the crappy but old site out? Thanks for any help & suggestions on how to beat this old site or at least show up second.

Aggregators outranking me for my own content

WARNING : The follow question is for an adult website. If you are at work, near children or are offended by such material, DO NOT CLICK Hey guys, This one has had me stumped for awhile. I operate www.deviantclip.com. Its a very old and trusted domain by google with loads of history. However, in the past year, Google has been giving me the cold shoulder. One major problem I've noticed is that I've lost all longtail traffic. Its even gotten to the point where aggregators are outranking me in google for my own custom titles and content. **Example A : ** Google Link 1 This search has my own sitename in the title and my site ranks somewhere on page 2 or further. **Example B : ** Google Link 2 This content originated from our site and has a unique title, yet we're dead last in the serps. I submitted my site for reconsideration a few times, and the outcome everytime is that Google tells me they have not applied any manual penalty. There are a TON of issues to adress with this site, but obviously, getting my own content to rank first is the primary problem I would like to fix. Your time and advice is greatly appreciated. If you need furter info, don't be afraid to ask.

Any reason not to redirect entire directory from old site structure to new?

I'm helping on a site that has tons of content and recently moved from a 10 year old .ASP structure to WordPress. There are ~800 404s, with 99% of them in the same directory that is no longer used at all. The old URL structures offer no indication of what the old page contents was. So, there is basically no way to manually redirect page by page to the new site at this point.....is there any reason not to redirect that entire old directory to the new homepage? Matt Cutts seems to think its OK to point an entire old directory to a new homepage, but its not as good as the 1:1 redirects: http://support.google.com/webmasters/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=93633 Any thoughts?

Can you advise why my site get outranked by sites with way less authority and so on

Hello SeoMoz, As a new member I first want to thank you guys for your service, seomoz is by far the best resource and toolbox I have ever found. I have a question, or more of a request if you could advise me on what I do wrong.
I have a website: www.letsflycheaper.com with a Domain Authority of 80, and my target keywords are keywords like: cheap business class, business class flights.
My target page is: www.letsflycheaper.com/business-class.php. With all my keywords I am page 2 and I have a real hard time getting on the first page, but if I look at my competitors like: www.wholesale-flights.com with a Domain Authority of 'just' 50, crappy backlinks and so on, they are all on the first page with almost all of my keywords that I want to target. What do I do wrong? Can you maybe give me a couple tips on where I should focus on more? Hopefully you guys can help me... Kind Regards, Ramon van Meer
