In my opinion you shouldn‘t ’chase’ a backlink with the only aim to improve your DA. Which after all is an estimation and always needs to be taken into context with other metrics.
You should go after backlinks that are on relevant websites that will also bring your site:

Potential referral traffic

Potential brand awareness

In my experience low DA links do not hurt as long as the bulk of your links are not coming from them. There may be some really great sites that are newer and have not built up DA but I'd still like them to link to us. As long as they're not spammy garbage you should be good.

As a rule of thumb yes but......
one or two low DA links to your domain won't hurt but a lot of low DA backlinks sends a signal that you are trying to game the system and your serp will suffer as a result.
Moz found during one of its studies that a backlink from a high domain authority page on a low domain authority website provides more value than a backlink from the opposite.
If you are building backlinks it is best to aim for higher DA sites as they will help more than hurt.

Ultimately, Google doesn't care what the site's DA is. DA is also easily manipulated. Before you start obtaining links from these sites, it's important to do your due diligence. Ensure the site's aren't low quality or being spammed with low quality links (which could bring up DA while still hurting a site in Google’s eyes).
Realistically, the best links to obtain are going to be from quality sites with high relevancy. Quality sites are sites that have a healthy backlink profile and history.
Keep in mind, create link only with relevant site in a professional manner. Never do spamming.

What are he benefits of getting 200+ links from DA 40+ non-relevant websites?
I have a client who has an opportunity to sponsor a prestigious national organisation. In return, they will get 200+ links from the websites of the organisation's members. Most of which are DA 40+.None of the linking sites have any relevance to my client's industry.1) How likely do you think it is that Google will view these as paid links?2) Do you feel that there is potential harm in gaining this many non-relevant links in a short time-frame?3) The client wants me to quantify the ranking benefits of gaining these links and calculate a potential ROI. Backlinks through dofollow commenting
I'm interested in building backlinks to my photography business site by leaving good, engaging comments on other photographers' DoFollow blogs. Is this a good idea? Is it worth the effort? Through a little research, I've managed to locate more than 40 dofollow photographer blogs that have a domain authority of 35+. The idea is to take an hour or so a week to leave 10-20 comments on their blog posts. Would you consider this a good strategy? I rank on the first and second page of most of my keywords that I'm working on, but I want to rank 1st or 2nd on them. I used the keyword finder tool on google adwords to find the keywords that are the most searched for in my area. Surprisingly the competition is not large, so I'm fairly comfident I can get there. I've already optimized my site substantially and I'm looking into link building. Thoughts?

Should I Use a Backlink Plugin
One of my clients recently asked me if he should use a Wordpress plugin to create backlinks to his website. He mentioned WP-Syndicator as an example. I just redesigned his website and I'd like to ensure that he gets a bit more traffic than he was before. Should I suggest that he purchase/use a Wordpress backlink plugin? I have a list of such blog submission sites but they all either need weeks delay till it gets approved or never gets approved. Why do we need proxy to so Backlinks?
Does Google knows the IP addresses that the backlinks are created from? if i create 200 backlinks for my site without proxies will google ban my site because it will look like i a the one who create all the backlinks? May i ask how many proxies do you guys need to create around 200 backlinks per day? If i already use the proxies today Can i use the same set of proxies to create backlinks tomorrow? THanks

What are some good easy links to get for new sites?
We are in the process of launching a couple of new sites and while we know it will be a long process to get them to rank, achieving some long-tail keywords would be beneficial. What sites would you recommend for getting some easy links to start with that can help the indexation and ranking process along in the preliminary stages? Press Release Sites for Backlinks
OK, I read a previous thread about whether people found press release sites useful (specifically I am considering a reputable pay for release service). I understand the knock on press releases in this digital age (namely that no one reads them and arguably never did . . . ), but I was interested in moving the discussion in a different direction . . . Do press releases services really help a sites performance based on increased backlinking? Is there a SEO benefit to PR services? My company is a local print company. I've done quite a bit of research on my local competitors, and specifically for a couple products we would like to dominate. The good news is that it looks like the hurdle would not be terribly high to really take over the web presence with a well planned and executed website/SEO campaign. My inclination is that for a relatively small company like mine (dealing with relatively small competitors) it WOULD benefit me to pay for the sheer number of backlinks a PR program would generate. The monthly cost is frankly about the same as the cost of this site, which OF COURSE I get value from (hey moderator, how about a couple extra MOZ points for that one!) Specifically, I am looking at this for myself, but feel free to expand the question to the broader topic.
