HTTP or HTTPs for competitor URLs?

When setting up my competitors, should I use their http or https URLs?

IF the webmaster has everything set correctly, you should use http. If you use https and it's not secure it's broken, they should have http and www. all pointing to the secured version

What about "example.com" versus "www.example.com"? Is the "www" needed?

Hey Erik, Dave from the help team here,
HTTP is best, adding the protocol isn't even necessary, we will auto default it.
example.com will end up http://example.com

If they have an SSL, I would use their https site, or you can just visit their website and copy and past whatever version displays.

We recently switched from HTTP to HTTPS and we are having crawling issues!
We switched our website from HTTP to HTTPS and we started to get an email from Moz about the robots.txt being unable to crawl our website. The website is hosted through wordpress but we haven't had any issues until we switched. We have no idea what to do or even what the problem is! If you have had a similar problem and fixed it, we need your help! Thank you.

Moz not recognising url to setup a new account
I am attempting to setup a new account for my client but Moz is having a problem and not registering the url http://www.esc.uk.net/. I get the "oops" message & read the info on the FAQ page it refers to. Why do I keep getting an "Oops" message when I type and submit my campaign URL? To create a campaign, we need to receive a valid HTTP response from the web server hosting your site. While the site may be accessible from a standard web browser, other user-agents and search engine bots may receive a different response. If you receive this error, we recommend running a test by sending an HTTP response using any online HTTP tool. Using an online HTTP tool I believe I received an HTTP response. What else can I do? 'not a valid url' error in campaign set up
I get the error not a valid url when I'm trying to set up a campaign. I know it's a valid url. I have tried with www, non-www, http://, https:// when I do the https it lets me start, but then I get an error that https is forwarding to http and I need to use that. When I then put in the http, I get the original error. thanks in advance for your help.
