Number of topics
-
Hello,
is the number of topics you cover important or is it best to cover only a few topics but in more depth ?
Thank you,
-
Topics of a webpage but your answers seems to answer my question. Go in depth in a few topics seems to be better than to cover many topics but without going in depth.

Can you provide more context to your question? Topics on what? A web page or website?
Research shows pages that go in dept on niche topics out rank others that cover a variety of topics. Of course, with all link building and domain authority being the same.... Here is where a large amount of information (content) will need to be balanced with great web design to engage the reader.
Some rookie digital marketers just throw up 2,000 words straight. No images, No accordions, no way to break up the read. Therefore, site engagement stats are decreased, which doesn't add to your SEO and most likely, negatively impacts your website conversion metrics.

Large number of links form Pinterest
Could unusually large number of links from Pinterest cause issues? Would Google categorise them as spammy links or site wide links? I have a small site with Urls around 800-1000. But webmaster shows 5321 links from Pinterest.com and 1467 from Pinterest.se. Please see attachment. ffNLF

Are TLD and numbers in subdomain ranking factors?
Several years ago my firm migrated our domain from a very lengthy 3point7designs.com to 3.7designs.co (we couldn't get 7designs.com at the time) thinking this would be a clever way to brand the name 3.7 Designs. Ever since that change we've had a dramatic reduction in search rankings which has lasted years. https://monosnap.com/file/adJUdkX9YCXQaODcXype4qza70pMCE You can see the drop in early 2011, we made the switch in February. I've read some discussion about Google changing weights based on having numbers in the subdomain as it appears spammy. I've also herd speculation about .co vs .com. Further evidence is being outranked by a competitor for a term we previously dominated despite having higher domain authority, inbound links, exact match keyword in our title and content. We now own 37designs.com and 7designs.com and are contemplating a switch. Any insight into these being ranking factors or is the site being penalized for other reasons?

Google Phone Numbers
What process is performed to get a company's phone number to show as "A" on google maps. Google displays the phone number for the company on the map as "A" first. It would be beneficial to get that position. Is there a sub-category of seo that does this? Thanks in advance!

On blog structure and topic [Advanced]
What if you run a university website with 20 faculties, how would you approach building a blog for them? Would you do it like most universities do - put all blogs in a subdomain and each individual faculty in a subfolder. Like this: https://blogs.monash.edu/ Would you put the blog in a subfolder and create categories for each faculty - like Mashable does for tech, entertainment, etc. Or, create separate subfolders for each faculties? If you have other ideas, please share. For argument's sake, the goal of the blog(s) is to generate leads. It's part of a larger content marketing effort and they want to maximize the blog's SEO benefit. And by the way, please state what you think are the advantages/disadvantages of your chosen option. Thanks!

800 Number vs. Local Phone
I have a client with multiple locations throughout the US. They are currently using different 800 numbers on their site for their different locations. As they try to optimize their local presence but submitting to local directories, we are trying to determine two things: Does having a local number reroute to an 800 number devalue the significance of it being a local number (I've never heard of this, but someone told them it did) Locality and consistency are important. Assuming they can't remove the 800 numbers from the site, are they better off keeping the 800 numbers on their site and using local numbers every else online OR just using the 800 numbers for all of their local listings?

High number of items per page or low number with more category pages?
In SEO terms, what would be the best method: High number of items per page or low number with more pages? For example, this category listing here: http://flyawaysimulation.com/downloads/90/fsx-civil-aircraft/ It has 10 items per page. Would there be any benefit of changing a listing like that to 20 items in order to decrease the number of pages in the category? Also, what other ways could you increase the SEO of category listings like that?

Subdomains vs. Subfolders for unique categories & topics
Hello, We are in the process of redesigning and migrating 5 previously separate websites (all different niche topics, including dining, entertainment, retail, real estate, etc.) under one umbrella site for the property in which they exist. From the property homepage, you will now be able to access all of the individual category sites within. As each niche microsite will be focused on a different topic, I am wondering whether it is best for SEO that we use subdomains such as category.mainsite.com or subfolders mainsite.com/category. I have seen it done both ways on large corporate sites (ie: Ikea uses subdomains for different country sites, and Apple uses subfolders), so I am wondering what makes the most sense for this particular umbrella site. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks, Melissa
