Why is my landing page title tag being applied to the entire site?
-
I have a unique title tag for every page on my site but depending on what page a user lands on, that title becomes the title tag for the entire site.
For example, if you come in from SERPs via the "Zach King: My Magical Life" page, the title "Zach King: My Magical Life" title will be applied to every page on the site even though they have unique title tags.
This is the site: https://www.shelfstuff.com/book-shelf.
Any ideas on how to fix this?
-
Ok, I think I see what you're saying, but it doesn't seem to have anything to do with Google. If I go directly to a page like this one (even incognito):
https://www.shelfstuff.com/book-shelf/books/where-the-watermelons-grow/?id=9780062665867
...and then go to the home page, I still see the book title in the browser tab. The title tag itself looks ok, but the sight is highly dynamic. I'm guessing this is some kind of strange JavaScript rewrite or something else happening in your code. Unfortunately, it would take an in-depth knowledge of your site code to sort out why.
Is the site using AJAX or something similar? Definitely seems like pages are being created dynamically and not loading in a typical way.
-
What search query are you using? I'm only seeing five pages indexed for your entire site (using site:www.shelfstuff.com), and can't get your site to rank at all for "Zach King: My Magical Life".
Oh, wait, sorry -- are you talking about the display title in the SERPs or the actual title that appears in the browser window once someone enters your site?

Site moved. Unable to index page : Noindex detected in robots meta tag?!
Hope someone can shed some light on this: We moved our smaller site (into the main site ( different domains) . The smaller site that was moved ( https://www.bluegreenrentals.com)
Intermediate & Advanced SEO | | bgvsiteadmin
Directory where the site was moved (https://www.bluegreenvacations.com/rentals) Each page from the old site was 301 redirected to the appropriate page under .com/rentals. But we are seeing a significant drop in rankings and traffic., as I am unable to request a change of address in Google search console (a separate issue that I can elaborate on). Lots of (301 redirect) new destination pages are not indexed. When Inspected, I got a message : Indexing allowed? No: 'index' detected in 'robots' meta tagAll pages are set as Index/follow and there are no restrictions in robots.txtHere is an example URL :https://www.bluegreenvacations.com/rentals/resorts/colorado/innsbruck-aspen/Can someone take a look and share an opinion on this issue?Thank you!0 -
Magento 1.9 SEO. I have product pages with identical On Page SEO score in the 90's. Some pull up Google page 1 some won't pull up at all. I am searching for the exact title on that page.
I have a website built on Magento 1.9. There are approximately 290,000 part numbers on the site. I am sampling Google SERP results. About 20% of the keywords show up on page 1 position 5 thru 10. 80% don't show up at all. When I do a MOZ page score I get high 80's to 90's. A page score of 89 on one part # may show up on page one, An identical page score on a different part # can't be found on Google. I am searching for the exact part # in the page title. Any thoughts on what may be going on? This seems to me like a Magento SEO issue.

How to speed up transition towards new 301 redirected landing pages?
Hi SEO's, I have a question about moving local landing pages from many separate pages towards integrating them into a search results page. Currently we have many separate local pages (e.g. www.3dhubs.com/new-york). For both scalability and conversion reasons, we'll integrate our local pages into our search page (e.g. www.3dhubs.com/3d-print/Bangalore--India). **Implementation details: **To mitigate the risk of a sudden organic traffic drop, we're currently running a test on just 18 local pages (Bangalore) = 1 / 18). We applied a 301 redirect from the old URL's to the new URL's 3 weeks ago. Note: We didn't yet update the sitemap for this test (technical reasons) and will only do this once we 301 redirect all local pages. For the 18 test pages I manually told the crawlers to index them in webmaster tools. That should do I suppose. **Results so far: **The old url's of the 18 test cities are still generating > 99% of the traffic while the new pages are already indexed (see: https://www.google.nl/webhp?sourceid=chrome-instant&ion=1&espv=2&ie=UTF-8#q=site:www.3dhubs.com/3d-print/&start=0). Overall organic traffic on test cities hasn't changed. Questions: 1. Will updating the sitemap for this test have a big impact? Google has already picked up the new URL's so that's not the issue. Furthermore, the 301 redirect on the old pages should tell Google to show the new page instead, right? 2. Is it normal that search impressions will slowly shift from the old page towards the new page? How long should I expect it to take before the new pages are consistently shown over the old pages in the SERPS?

External resources page (AKA a satellite site) - is it a good idea?
So the general view on satellite sites is that they're not worth it because of their low authority and the amount of link juice they provide. However, I have an idea that is slightly different to the standard satellite site model. A client's website is in a particular niche, but a lot of websites that I have identified for potential links are not interested because they are a private commercial company. Many are only interested in linking to charities or simple resource pages. I created a resource section on the website, but many are still unwilling to link to it as it is still part of a commercial website. The website is performing well and is banging on the door of page one for some really competitive keywords. A few more links would make a massive difference. One idea I have is to create a standalone resource website that links to our client's website. This would be easy to get links from sites that would flat out refuse to link to the main website. This would increase the authority of the resource and result in more link juice to the primary website. Now I know that the link juice from this website will not be as good as getting links directly to the primary website, but would it still be a good idea? Or would my time be better spent trying to get a handful of links directly to the client's website? Alternatively, I could set up a sub-domain to set up the resource, but I'm not sure that this would be as successful.

Max # of Products / Links per Page on E-Commerce Site
We are getting ready to re-launch our e-commerce site and are trying to decide how many products to list per category page. Some of of our category pages have upwards of 100 products. While I'd love to list ALL the products on the root category page (to reduce hassle for customer, to index more products on a higher PR page), I'm a little worried about having it be too long, and containing too many on-page links. Would love some guidance on: Maximum number of internal links on a page If Google frowns on really long category pages Anything else I should be considering when making this decision Thanks for your input!
