Changed from www to non-www lost all rank. Will it return?
-
My web site used https://www.domain.com for the past 18 months. We finally got to #3 position for our top keyword. We changed web servers and our wordpress admin section somehow got changed to https://domain.com. As you can imaging I'm not too happy. We do have 301 redirects installed. Yesterday I noticed that our site was not ranking anymore. In fact, all our pages and our site URLs at https://www.domain.com have been de-indexed. I assume because that no longer exists.
Using site: all the web pages under https://domain.com (which were identical to the old www) are now listed. All of them. However, none are showing in searches unless we search for the business name. They are not appearing under keyword searches.
I would assume that the 301s (which are installed property) would make the site keep it's rank, as the pages are all identical.
Will we ever get our rank back? Should we switch back to www? Or do the 301s just take time to hit? How long if that's the case?

Any chance you would be willing to share the URL so I can run some diagnostics?
A few things to look at:
1. Insuring that 301 redirects are in place to redirect non www to www and http to https
2. Google Search Console for any 404's that have popped up since the move. You'll want to redirect those too
3. Submitting your XMl sitemap to both Google and Bing via Search Console and Bing Webmaster Tools
4. Making sure that you've updated your prefences in analytics to https in both property settings and view settings

Seeing as everything is graduating towards mobile first, is there any value in tracking desktop and smartphone keywords separately?

Which page is currently ranking the best for a particular keyword?
Hi Guys! I have approx. 50 keywords that I'm tracking for a website that has about 80 pages. I am wondering is there any way that I can find out which page on the site is currently ranking best for each of the keywords on my list? Ideally I would like to export the entire list with the keyword in the first column and the page that ranks best on the website for each given keyword, in the second column. Apologies if the wording of this post is confusing - I am not quite sure how to make it clearer. The aim of my task is to determine which keywords should be allocated to each page on the site so I need to work out which keywords are working already for certain pages so that I don't take those efforts away from the well-optimised pages. Many thanks! Meaghan

Ranking for more keywords - Noob question
Hi, I've noticed recently that our site is ranking for a fraction of the keywords that our competitors are ranking for. In terms of increasing the number of keyword rankings per page would it simply be a case of adding optimised copy to each page? Thanks, Dan

Best techniques For EMD Ranking in 2013
OK. I know some will say "same as any other SEO". But I am keen to get one of my sites ranking for it's EMD. Nothing I do seems to be working at all. As far as I can tell it's not even in the top 100. Because the site is managed for a business, it needs income. I've managed to increase it's ranks in some low terms.

Branded vs Generic keywords - is Google treating their rank equaly!?
Several times I have noticed that website receiving sort of a rankings drop penalty for certain wrongly built on-page strategies that involves keyword stuffing, wrong keyword density(too much) etc. The question is - how you guys think - is branded keywords receiving the same treatment from Google then generic ones? And here is why - for one popular brand I see that they ranking for their brand keyword very high(1th) but keyword density is awful - more then 10%. So, my guess is - if this keyword density you would apply for generic keyword you will end up nowhere to be found for it! Is that could be truth? Any experiments info about that? thanks and regards, Jungles

Keywords and Rank Checker Tool
Two questions about checking the rank of keywords. The easiest way to say this is by example. I have a keyword that SEOMOZ ranks on google in the 32nd position but when I look for that keyword in Google it's nowhere to be found (it's buried deep in the results pages somewhere). Where does SEOMOZ get its keyword results from? How do I non-localize my browser so I can see "global" keyword results? Is there such a thing? thanks in advance.

Why do I get a vastly different keyword ranking on google using different browsers?
With Fire Fox I get a ranking of 3 for roof coating and get a page 6 with Chrome and IE. Not sure what is going on with that.

Is there a pro tool or google service that I can use to see which sites rank for certain terms? Without having to first identify the url's?
For example I want to see the top 20 sites in order of ranking for top keywords in my industry. Without having to know in advance the url's.
