Hi Steve,
Sorry for my delayed reply. I was busy on my offline business.
But, thanks for you help. It really help and my question has been solved wit your answer above

Hi Matthew,
No problem, apologise for not replying yesterday. I was spending time with the family.
Your redirect code looks good to me, that should redirect all the old URLs to a replica new URL.
so www.example-old.com/content will go to www.example-new.com/content
everything after the domain name will stay the same.
I suspect you only see 1 URL on your old domain in screamingfrog due to the redirect. That makes sense and is fine.
Keep an eye out for 404's in Google analytics and search console and also keep an eye on search console for crawl errors.
From the information you have posted, it looks like you have done everything correctly. It is now just a case of monitoring for any little niggles that may pop up.

Hi Steve, thanks for still being here to solve my problem.
For sure, I will do what you tell me to do. I will still use 301 redirect for the moment and maybe permanently to make sure it'll goes correctly.
I'm using WordPress as my CMS. And Steve, I want to ask you about Screaming From crawl. When I crawl my old domain on the software, it shown that just my homepage alone not all my article/post/inner page. You can check my screenshot below.
Is it true? Or I was implemented a wrong redirect code?
Can you tell me how to implement 301 redirect correctly via htacess file? I need this. Or you can check my current implementation below.
<ifmodule mod_rewrite.c="">RewriteEngine on
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^old-domain.com [NC,OR]
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^www.old-domain.com [NC]
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ https://new-domain.com/$1 [L,R=301,NC]</ifmodule>Is that true? Or I need to add some code more?
Thank you before.

Hi Matthew,
No problem,
Great, I would backup the site and monitor for a few weeks to a month just to be sure. Then you can delete the old content. Make sure you verify the backup first.
You can do this by setting up a local web server on your laptop/pc and restoring the backup there. If you need guidance on taking the backup let me know which CMS you are using and I will see what I can do to help.
Once you have verified the backup and removed the old domain, keep an eye on google analytics to make sure everything looks ok. (on both sites) and that no 404 errors are starting to show up.
As for how long to keep the 301 in place, indefinitely. That is until you stop seeing any backlinks and traffic coming through them.
Make sure you keep an eye on traffic volumes through this process and rankings in the search engines. You will likely see a small drop off in rankings and traffic due to the rebrand but that should recover. If not then make sure that the pages you are redirecting from are close enough to the ones you are redirecting to.
Its been a long day and I feel like I am rambling so I will leave it there.
If you have any questions let me know

Hi Steve,
Thanks for your kind reply, and here some info that you need:
- I redirected old-domain.com to new-domain.com with a 301 redirect
- I've been tested all the pages on my old domain/URL and that's work finely
- This redirect happen because I want to rebrand my website
- I've checked my old domain on Screaming Frog and all my old URL redirected to my new URL successfully
And I would like to take your suggestion to backup and delete all my content on my old website, maybe this can free up my hosting space, right?
One more question, how long I need to redirect the old domain to new domain? permanently or what?
Thank you.

Hi,
We might need some more info to answer this correctly.
However, I will do my best to answer.
First, let me explain what I think you are asking.
You have launched a new domain let say www.example-new.com and you have redirected your pages with a 301 from www.example-old.com to the www.example-new.com.
If this is the case, then all of the traffic that would have gone to the old domain will now be redirected to the new domain, so you can do whatever you want with the old content as no one will see it.
I would suggest making a backup of the old domain before you do anything else. I would also suggest testing the old URLs to ensure that all are being redirected correctly. You can do this with numerous tools if you have a lot of URLs. Screaming frog spider will do it for up to 500 URLs for free.
Also, don't forget that for the link juice to be passed from the old domain to the new domain you need to be redirecting to a page that is considered the same, similar or better on the same topic.
I hope this helps.
Steve

Proper 301 redirect code for http to https
I see lots of suggestions on the web for forwarding http to https. I've got several existing sites that want to take advantage of the SSL boost for SEO (however slight) and I don't want to lose SEO placements in the process. I can force all pages to be viewed through the SSL - that's no problem. But for SEO reasons, do I need to do a 301 redirect line of code for every page in the site to the new "https" version? Or is there a way to catch all with one line of code that Google, etc. will recognize & honor?

Buying a domain to 301 redirect for increased rankings
A large competitor has recently purchased a large marketing company that specializes in their industry. As a part of this acquisition they obtained ownership of www.digitalsherpa.com, which is now 301 redirecting some 50K links to www.costar.com/. When I did a site:www.digitalsherpa.com search all of the origin URLs had title tags from the costar site in place of their own. My question is: Does this violate Google spam guidelines? search?sourceid=chrome-psyapi2&ion=1&espv=2&ie=UTF-8&q=site%3Adigitalsherpa.com&oq=site&aqs=chrome.0.69i59j69i57j69i65j69i60j0l2.1919j0j7

302 redirect used, submit old sitemap?
The website of a partner of mine was recently migrated to a new platform. Even though the content on the pages mostly stayed the same, both the HTML source (divs, meta data, headers, etc.) and URLs (removed index.php, removed capitalization, etc) changed heavily. Unfortunately, the URLs of ALL forum posts (150K+) were redirected using a 302 redirect, which was only recently discovered and swiftly changed to a 301 after the discovery. Several other important content pages (150+) weren't redirected at all at first, but most now have a 301 redirect as well. The 302 redirects and 404 content pages had been live for over 2 weeks at that point, and judging by the consistent day/day drop in organic traffic, I'm guessing Google didn't like the way this migration went. My best guess would be that Google is currently treating all these content pages as 'new' (after all, the source code changed 50%+, most of the meta data changed, the URL changed, and a 302 redirect was used). On top of that, the large number of 404's they've encountered (40K+) probably also fueled their belief of a now non-worthy-of-traffic website. Given that some of these pages had been online for almost a decade, I would love Google to see that these pages are actually new versions of the old page, and therefore pass on any link juice & authority. I had the idea of submitting a sitemap containing the most important URLs of the old website (as harvested from the Top Visited Pages from Google Analytics, because no old sitemap was ever generated...), thereby re-pointing Google to all these old pages, but presenting them with a nice 301 redirect this time instead, hopefully causing them to regain their rankings. To your best knowledge, would that help the problems I've outlined above? Could it hurt? Any other tips are welcome as well.

301 redirect domain to page on another domain
Hi, If I wanted to do a 301 permanent redirect on a domain to a page on another domain will this cause any problems? Lets say I have 4 domains (all indexed with content), I decide to create a new domain with 4 pages, one for each domain. I copy the content from the old domains to the relevant page on the new domain and set it live. At the same time as setting the new site live I do a 301 permanent redirect on the 4 domains to the relevant pages on the new domain. What happens if Google indexes the new site before visiting the redirected domains, could this cause a duplicate content penalty? Cheers

Loss of search engine positions after 301 redirect - what went wrong?!?
Hi Guys After adhering to the On Page optimisation suggestions given by SEOmoz, we redirected some of old urls to new ones. We set 301 redirects from the old pages to new on a page by page basis but our search engine ranking subsequently fell off the radar and lost PR. We confirmed redirection with fiddler and it shows 301 permanent redirect on every page as expected. To manage redirection using a common code logic we executed following: In Http module, using “rewrite path” we route “all old page requests” to a page called “redirect.aspx? oldpagename =[oldpagename]”. This happens at server side. In redirect.aspx we are redirecting from old page to new page using 301 permanent redirect. In the browser, when old page is requested, it will 301 redirect to new page. In hope we and others can learn from our mistakes - what did we do wrong ?!? Thanks in advance. Dave - www.paysubsonline.com

Best Redirect for old .htm extention to root ?
I have been trying to figure this out with different redirects but cannot seem to get this correct. Some of our forums link to pages that do not exist or are very old. They have (.htm) extension. I do not want to redirect the .htm to .php because the actual names of the link have changed too. What is the best code to redirect any link that has a .htm extention to the root domain? right now I have this code to redirect index.htm to the root, but that is all it works for. I think. RewriteCond %{THE_REQUEST} ^.*/index.htm RewriteRule ^(.*)index.htm$ http://www.example.com$1 [R=301,L]

Should I move x-cart installation or 301 redirect?
We have an existing e-commerce site built on x-cart. The default store location is www.site.com/store. The domain root however is just a static HTML page (currently using mainly graphics) and a nav menu. What would be a better option: 1. Move the install location to the root directory and get rid of the static HTML page. We would have to manually 301 redirect all the old pages to the new location. Not sure if there are negative implications with that. 2. Just optimize the HTML landing page? Seems like it is better to have products and categories as close to the root domain as possible... 3. 301 redirect the domain to www.site.com/store/ and optimize the homepage within the store. This option means we dont have to worry about 2000 redirects or the hassle of moving the store. Anyone had any experience with this and suggestions?
