Gradual traffic drop of personal finance website in the last three months
-
Dear All,
I have personal finance website https://mymoneysouq.com and the traffic dropped by less than half of what is was before last three months. I am figuring out all the possible issues and doing everything that comes to our mind to improve the quality of our website.
I tried the following before posting here:1. Tried contacting website owner which we think spam and add all such domains to our disavow list2. We found little duplicate content on sites like Quora, we made those answers down by reporting to Quora3. Reported to DMCA on 3 articles articles(partial) from our website.4. We are trying improving user experience5. Removed one of our page that shared by many people but our page was not indexed by Google.6. Checked and modified content if any our articles are having more keywords than what SEO experts recommend. 7. We are working on researching more and figuring our what else can might have gone wrong with our traffic.8. Working on improving EAT I attached our traffic drop graph. I believe this drop is not natural it happened because of some issue at our end and we are not able to figure out the exact reasons.Surprisingly another site with not so high quality content started ranking now in the top.I am here to get community members/experts help on this. I could provide you if you need any further details. Thanks a lot for your time. We really appreciate any tips that you can share with us.Q2S1tlK Q2S1tlK

I have made a website and I want to know how to add SASSA status check tool to my WordPress site. I have an sample of one of my competitors site here. You can check the site and recommend me how can I add this type of tracking tool. Thanks
To add a SASSA status check tool to your WordPress site, you can create a custom plugin using an API for SASSA status checks. Write a shortcode to handle form submissions and display the results, then insert this shortcode on the desired page. If you need more specific guidance, refer to a competitor's site to see how they've implemented it.

Google has been updating continuously in recent years. We must change the content, Backlink, and page on the site. I think you should audit your website as a whole again. I'm also having trouble with my website https://www.funneltops.com

I empathize with your concern about the traffic drop on your personal finance website. It's commendable that you've taken proactive steps to address potential issues, such as disavowing spammy domains and improving user experience. To further boost your site's visibility, consider enhancing engagement with your audience through interactive content or incorporating Fun activities in Lisbon within relevant articles. Additionally, focus on building high-quality backlinks and regularly update content to align with current SEO best practices. Stay persistent in analyzing and adapting your strategies, and the positive results should follow. Best of luck in restoring and surpassing your previous traffic levels.

I think you tried to attach two charts there but for me at least, they look like exactly the same chart. Entrances isn't the metric you usually use to evaluate what people call 'traffic', that's actually more commonly associated with the sessions metric
Let's look at what you said you did:
"1. Tried contacting website owner which we think spam and add all such domains to our disavow list" - this can and usually will only make your results go down further. Your view of what spam is, will not be perfectly aligned with Google's view. As such, some of the links which you think are spam, may have been giving you ranking power - which you have killed off using the disavow tool. If Google think a link is spammy, they nullify it themselves without disavow. If you mark a link as disavow, Google do not give you back the ranking power. Why would they? You are agreeing with them that the link is bad, so why would they give you ranking power for it? Disavows can (under normal circumstances) only make results dip or drop further. The use-case for a disavow, is if you believe your backlink profile is SO bad, that Google are about to give you a manual link penalty (which will kill ALL of your results). If you think that is about to happen, you can stop it from happening using a disavow submission. Disavow trades away (loses) some of your current performance, in exchange for future insulation against manual actions (which are WAY worse than algorithmic devaluation)
"2. We found little duplicate content on sites like Quora, we made those answers down by reporting to Quora"
This probably won't do anything for your SEO. Quora probably still won't delete the posts. If they're still there, it's still duplicate content (down vote or not)
"3. Reported to DMCA on 3 articles articles(partial) from our website."
This is a good move keep doing this. Actually focus more on this if you can find more stolen content! Use CopyScape to track it down
"4. We are trying improving user experience"
This is always good and you should always be doing this
"5. Removed one of our page that shared by many people but our page was not indexed by Google."
I mean, it won't really help to do this as a one off. If you have loads of pages that Google refuses to index, then action might be needed. But if it's just one page and people liked to share it, it seems kind of crazy to erase it to me
"6. Checked and modified content if any our articles are having more keywords than what SEO experts recommend."
Just so you know keyword density is not an accepted measurement in modern SEO. If your articles previously read like they were really spammy, you did the right thing. If they were reading fine anyway AND getting the keywords in, you may have hurt yourself more by doing this
"7. We are working on researching more and figuring our what else can might have gone wrong with our traffic."
Focus on R&I is healthy
"8. Working on improving EAT "
A lot of sites got stung, are still getting stung and will continue to be hurt by this. If you're writing for finance this massively concerns you and should probably be your #1 thing, not your #8 thing. Really focus on this a lot
"I attached our traffic drop graph. I believe this drop is not natural it happened because of some issue at our end and we are not able to figure out the exact reasons."
It could be many things but poor EAT on a finance site will kill your site in 2019
"S_urprisingly another site with not so high quality content started ranking now in the top._"
That's your opinion and you are welcome to it, but the quality of your sites and other sites is being determined by mathematical algorithms and not by human minds. What you think is quality content, may be very far removed from what Google's mechanical mind perceives as high quality. Another thing, older sites which are more established can rank above your with lower quality content than you have (as their SEO authority and trust is higher). You need to think about winning trust and links. Maybe some crappy sites do rank well, but when they were first made they filled a hole (in the query-verse) or they were good for their time. You have to be good in YOUR time. What they did to earn their success (which they ride along on) may have been drastically less than what you have to do in 2019. Never forget that. Comparative analysis-paralysis doesn't get you ahead, it holds you back. Vision is what's needed now

Not a problem hopefully some of my comments have proven useful to you guys

Hi.
Apologies if I am pointing out the obvious but your initial drop looks like it is due to the June core algo update.
So it's not natural in this case.
You could be chasing your tail a bit trying to figure out what it could be as a lot of sites who were initially dropping in June have made a bit of a recovery in the September update:

Sorry I cannot be of more help but will update when more is known about the September update 'winners and losers'

Ranking issue for new website
Hi all, I have got a specific SEO challenge. 6 months ago, we started to build an eCommerce site (located in the UK). In order to speed up the site launch, we copied the entire site over from an existing site based in Ireland. Now, the new UK site has been running for 5 months. Google has indexed many pages, which is good, but we can't rank high (position: between 20-30 for most pages). We thought it was because of content duplication in spite of different regions. So we tried to optimize the pages for the UK site to make them more UK-related and avoid content duplication. I've also used schema to tell google it's a UK-based site and set up Google my business and got more local citations. Besides, If you could give me any suggestions, it'd be perfect.

Website removed from Bing and Yahoo
Hello, Our website howtoremove.guide was recently removed from the Bing and Yahoo index. The first thing we did was contact Bing Webmaster support to ask what the issue was since we did not get any notifications or messages in our webmaster dashboard. The email that we got back said “I have escalated the issue to our engineers and will get back to you once I receive an update.” Since then, we haven't received any word back from them, but we did not find any technical problems and we strongly believe we were manually penalized. We've never had issues with a search engine before, so we are at a loss what to do. Could you please give us advice as to what technical issue our website might have or what could incur a deindex penalty in our case? We want to do everything that is possible to get back into Bing and Yahoo search results ASAP. The website has primarily affiliate content, so we are doing anything we can to clean everything up, but any recommendations will be incredibly useful to us. We are also open to contacting an expert on this, but we have no idea where to look.

Multilingual Version of a Website
Hi All, We created 'EN' and 'FR' version of a website and translated all labels and message from English to France with the help of Google Translator. Lets take an example: English version URL - https://www.sitegeek.com/softlayer France version URL - https://fr.sitegeek.com/softlayer France version also contain same reviews available on English version page. So the reviews content or language is same on both pages. To eliminate the duplicate content issue we put following meta tags on both 'EN" and 'FR' version pages : So My question is that (1.) Is this the correct implementation of Multilingual Version of a Website? (2.) Is Added meta tags work for both Google and Bing Search engine? (as Bing not indexing all pages) (3.) We are translated labels and messages from Google Translator. Is this the issue pages not being Indexed in Bing? (4.) Finally, What would the correct SEO approch if we translate our site in other languages? Rajiv

How many pages should be on landscapers website
Hi Guys, We have a good website strong onsite and offsite seo. A year ago, we had a 15 pages website for all main keywords we needed and we were on top 3 for most of these keywords in google. We were happy but we wanted more.. So we created lots of unique content targeting long tail keywords and created 100 more pages for the website. In next 4-5 months we lost positions for almost all our main keywords but got lots of longtails SERPs. Trafiic grew but the quality and the conversion rate shrinked. Everybody keep saying that it doesn't matter how many pages you have on the website as long as content is unique and I don't think it is true. I see lots of 3-5 paged websites without any seo in top 3 results in google. Does it mean that if I delete all these 100 pages that I created I will have more chances to get my main keywords SERP back? Basically does the seo juice that you have on domain is spreading across all pages and the more pages you have the less juice every page will get?

Construction website
Hi, I have a construction website that is aimed at tradesmen. There are 2 goals of the site: 1. To allow potential customers to sign up for a trade account. 2. To allow existing customers to access to products and login to their account to make an order. The site is full of categories and products which should be indexed so we rank for these trade products. The homepage redesign is where i am having an issue: Currently the site is set up like a standard retail site but without prices, which are viewable only when logged in. The homepage is designed such that there is several call to actions about promotions, services and to apply for a trade account, that apply to both existing and potential customers. At the moment there is a poor conversion to get potential customers to apply for a trade account. This is because there is too much distraction away from this goal and they are allowed to engage other areas of the site freely. The main purpose of the homepage should be to encourage potential customers to sign up. The secondary purpose to for existing customers to access the accounts and products. I believe potential customers should not be exposed to the categories and products as it is a distraction from the primary goal. Potential customers, i.e. Tradesmen, would already have a certain understanding of the types of products we provide, so I don't feel it is necessary to allow them to crawl the rest of the site unless they have an account. What are your thoughts on that? Here is my lack of understanding: On the homepage, if I restrict access to categories and products to existing account holders only, where a login is required to proceed, would that mean Google cannot access these pages to index them? Or is this only controlled by NoFollows & Robots.txt? Obviously not indexing is undesirable. I do understand potential customers will need some information about our range of products but the idea is to coerce them to sign up for an account so they can see this information. The more information that is provided to a potential customer, the higher the probability a person can make a decision against applying for an account. Restricting access creates a motivator to reveal information and we capture their data to converse with them personally. This increases the probability of us being able to retain their interest by providing a customised service based on their needs. All of this I feel makes perfect sense to me, the only query/obstacle I have is the indexing of the site. If Google cannot index pages that are restricted by account access, then I would like suggestions to solve/compromise/optimise the above. Just to address the desired behaviour of index pages. If in search a our product page appears, the person clicking the link would either be redirected or exposed to a login or sign up screen to view. Thank you so much for your help. Antonio

Drop in rankings, next step
So based on a question asked yesterday, I am wondering what my next step is. Yesterday's question was, I have made updates to Title and Meta Descriptions for my client's site and suddenly they are not showing up in the top 50 for numerous keywords that they used to. The only words in the page source that were edited were "fluff" words that were replaced with relevant keywords reflected in much of the on-page copy yet now the client is not showing up. Ideas? From responses and research, it seems there's a lag time in Google to pick up the updated titles/info and these changes can cause a drop in rankings for a short time - however, I can't very well turn to my client and say sorry your website isn't showing up for a few weeks...wondering what my next step should be, or is there a greater issue I'm missing.
