How to answer questions when there no questions for my keyword
-
Hello,
Let's say I want to rank on "Alsace bike tour" whatever tool I use Moz keyword explorer, google suggest , keyword.io, answer the public ... there are not questions... so... what do I need to answer ? I imagine that for google there are some questions more relevant than others ? Should I answer do I need to bring my own bike or where will I go... ? and will google give me "points " for answering those questions even though people don't have questions...
For the keyword title tag, it is easy, people ask the character limit, title tag generator and so on but for may keywords like that ones I am targeting people have NO Questions !
Thank you,
-
Well the questions you need to answer are the ones that your target audience are asking! You don't get Google Points just for answering questions!
Don't fall into the trap of creating the kind of Frequently Asked Questions page where none of your target audience care about any of the questions! You see this a lot when businesses take a very internal perspective and forget who they're meant to be talking to!
Don't waste your take creating content around questions that nobody is asking!
There's a couple of things to consider here:
1. What are the questions you need to answer on the landing page in order to get visitors to convert or take the next action. (How much does it cost, etc)
2. Then there are broader questions for which you want to try and get a slice of the traffic (eg: where's the best place to hire bikes in alsace etc... )
If you're got access to search console you can look for queries that contain question related words ("how, why, where, when, what etc).
You can also use these in search queries too. For example "inurl:how alsace bike" got me "How long is the Alsace wine route?" and more. Also, do take a look at the pages that appear in the search results for ideas too.
Keep an eye on the related searches displayed in the search results as well.
I have found that it's useful to have a friendly chat with the the business owner/sales people - they can usually (but not always!) give you some insights into the questions that are important to potential customers.
For many topics, the questions that people are are going to be the same as similar topics so taking a look at your direct competitors or site's with similar offerings can help you generate ideas.
If you've got site search set up on the site make sure you're capturing the searches people are doing there, again that can help give you some ideas.
If you've got a chat widget enabled on the site, it's worth seeing if you can get your hands on the transcripts or questions that are being asked there.
You might also consider carrying out a survey, particularly if you've got a good social media following / subscriber list.
Doug.

How many keywords should each of my pages realistically be targeting?
Hi All, I run a small bank's website and we're currently in the process of organising a site rebuild. Whilst this will be extensive and have many SEO factors to tick off, my concern now is to get a "realistic" number of keywords each of my pages should be targeting. For instance for my car loan page i've done a review on moz's keyword tool and have picked 3 or 4 good keywords - but the problem is there are realistically 7-8 that would suit. Also this is based on Bing's info only. Can anybody point me in the right direction (or have some google confirmed resource they can quote me) Cheers as always 🙂 Dave

Should we go after this main keyword?
Hello, We run an online store. The main content keyword for our niche is very competitive, but if I was going to go look up information and I was one of our customers, that is exactly what I would type in - this main general keyword. We have an expert in the field to write it and plenty of time. Although the main keyword is competitive, there are many many subkeywords that are a lot less competitive that would be answered in the article. It's tough to find good topics in this niche. We're thinking about doing a "Complete Guide to X". We would have far less backlinks and authority for about half of the 30 keywords it will cover than our main competitors. Should we do this and spend the next couple of years working on it, or should we perhaps target a smaller topic? Any advice is appreciated.

Plural versions of keywords
I am a Magician and optimising my site for local seo mainly. I would imagine this will affect any local business but I woule like some input from the community on how to handle variations of the same keyword. e.g I am a Magician and I am based in Hampshire So I have created a page for Hampshire and from previous keyword research optimised it of Magician Hampshire. However there are many more variations of the keyword. e.g Magicians Hampshire, Magicians in Hampshire, Hampshire Magician, Magician in Hampshire, Close up Magicians in Hampshire, Hampshire Magicians, Magicians near Hampshire, Local Hampshire Magicians. The list goes on but I can not find an answer on wether I should have a separate page/blog post for each of these keywords or include them in the same page. If I include them in the same page how to not make it spammy I am sure this is the same for electricians, dentists, hairdressers etc so am hoping there is a common answer to a problem that has been puzzling me for a long time Many Thanks Roger

What keywords should my main page contain ?
Hello. I have a domain with scripts and components for websites, each product page is somehow different and contains different phrases and keywords, for example: a) Flash Photo Gallery
Intermediate & Advanced SEO | | adrianTNT
b) JavaScript Menu
c) Flash Menu
d) PHP Rating Script
e) PHP Poll script It's kind of clear for me how to optimize keywords on these pages individually, but what would be best content / terms / keywords to use on my main page and main page title and anchor text to my root domain? Should it be a mix of all these keywords mentioned above ? Or is it better to be a general term like "website scripts" ?0 -
Paging Question: Rel Next or Canonical?
Hi, Lets say you have a category which displays a list of 20 products and pagination of up to 10 pages. The root page has some content but when you click through the paging the content is removed leaving only the list of products. Would it be best to apply a canonical tag on the paging back to the root or apply the prev/next tags. I understand prev/next is good for say a 3 part article where each page holds unique content but how do you handle the above situation? Thanks

Why our site dropped in rank for a main keyword
Hello, Our site nlpca(dot)com dropped in rank for a few terms, including the main term "NLP". Could you look at our site and tell us what might be the cause? Thank you so much, Bob
