Search Console - Mobile Usability Errors
-
A site I'm looking at for a client had 100's of pages flagged as having Mobile Usability errors in Search Console.
I found that the theme uses parameters in the URLs of some of theme resources (.js/.css) to identify the version strings.
These were then being blocked by a rule in the robots.txt: "Disallow: /*?"
I've removed this rule, and now when I inspect URLs and test the live versions of the page they are now being reported as mobile friendly.
I then submitted validation requests in Search Console for both of the errors ("Text to small" and "Clickable Elements too close")
My problem now, is that the validation has completed and the pages are still being reported as having the errors.
I've double checked and they're find if I inspect them individually.
Does anyone else have experience clearing these issues in Search Console? Any ideas what's going on here!

Just to follow this up. We're now seeing the mobile usability error reports gradually being removed from pages at approximagely 100 pages / day.
It just seemed to me that the whole validation request process didn't actually appear to do anything and we just had to wait for the site to be recrawled?!

Thanks for your response Daniel. The steps you outlined are exactly what I have done - which is why after requesting validate fix I was surprised that the pages came back with errors still!
I've submitted a validate fix request again so I'll see what happens...

I've had the same issue when one of my clients disallowed a directory that contained the CSS and some other scripts.
What you should do is make sure 100% that you have removed any conflicting line from the robots.txt file, then you should go to the robots.txt testing tool from Google and see whether it's updated. If not, you just make a request for it to be updated, and usually, it's done within 30 min. Then you should run the Google mobile-friendly test and see if there are any issues.
If both of the tests return positive results, then you should request at the search console to "validate fix". After that, it usually takes up to a week for it to be removed from the pages with errors.
If it's a small number of links, you can also "text live URL" within the search console, and then "request indexing". As mentioned, if everything goes right, it should take up to one week for the errors to be removed.Daniel Rika - Dalerio Consulting

How do I "undo" or remove a Google Search Console change of address?
I have a client that set a change of address in Google Search Console where they informed Google that their preferred domain was a subdomain, and now they want Google to also consider their base domain (without the change of address). How do I get the change of address in Google search console removed?

PDF in search results?
Hello community! I am not an SEO professional, though I am a practitioner, I would say. I am seeking a solution on behalf of a friend. If you search the term "Peter Blatt" you will discover a "black eye" on the first page, towards the bottom of SERPs. It's a PDF published on the Florida Department of Financial Services website regarding the final order for a settlement he and his company ("Blatt Financial Group") reached with the state as it related to professional conduct allegations. Does anyone have any advice on how to address this? I don't want "game" the search engines, but at the same time, this document looks really scary and much worse than it actually is to people, and I would love for it do drop below page one. Any advice or suggestions from the community? Thanks! Tom

Google Search Results Display URL
Our urls show as www.domain.com/getproduct.aspx?productid=48376 (url #1) in Google search results. When you click on the link and go to the site the URL is www.domain.com/product-name.aspx (url #2) I checked in Google Webmaster Tools (Fetch as Google) and there is a 302 redirect from url #1 to url #2. It also shows a Set-Cookie value, ASP.NET_SessionID= If we make it a 301 redirect instead, will the url displayed in Google search results be the url #2? We need to get rid of the Set-Cookie for crawlers correct?

Index inactive mobile site?
Hi, I have a question wrt Mobile version of a site. Previously, we had a mobile site which is no longer active and there are possibilities of resurrecting it in future, so we have a 302 redirect which points to the homepage (desktop version). Currently, the mobile site is indexed by the search engines. To avoid the duplicate content issue, is it recommended to use robots.txt and block the spiders from mobile content or apply 301 redirect until the mobile site is up and running, OR continue with the 302 redirect. Any suggestions will be helpful. Thanks,

How to handle .mobi and normal website for mobile search and regular search
Hi, we have our regular website at jameda.de and a mobile only page at jameda.mobi Users on mobile devices will be automatically redirected to .mobi if they click on a link to jameda.de in the SERPs. What is the best practice to ensure, that Googlebot is indexing jameda.de and Googlebot Mobile is indexing jameda.mobi without duplicate content issues and having Link-Juice benefits on mobile search at the same time? Thanks a lot
