How many keywords to put in each Keyword Matrix cell?
-
I'm currently developing a Keyword Matrix for my site, and i'm just wondering how many keywords I should be putting into each individual cell?
From what I learned in MOZ academy, each cell of the matrix will be turned into a keyword list. This means that if I only have one keyword per cell, I'd only have one keyword list that corresponds to each cell in the Matrix. Would it be wrong to include multiple keywords for each cell and thus, multiple keyword lists corresponding to each individual cell?
Thanks!

Thanks Melissa! That helps a lot.
Would it be correct to say then, in general terms, each cell of the Matrix represents one page on your site? (Whether or not that cell has 1 or 20 keywords?)

Hey there! Melissa here, from the Learning Team.
The number of keywords that goes in each cell correlates to the number of keywords you're optimizing a page for.
You might ask yourself, "Well, how many keywords should I target per page?" Unfortunately, there's really no hard and fast answer here. The number can be as low as 1 or as high as 15 or 20. You need to know which keywords have actual relevance to the page content, and it can get a bit tricky. Remember, focus on topic and concept, because that's what aligns with the Google Hummingbird update. The safe and generally effective bet is to choose one primary keyword that's specific and relevant to a page, with a decent monthly search volume, and then back it up with a few secondary keywords that are also very relevant, but aren't your primary keyword and may not have as high of a search volume.

No keywords displayed for site in Keywords by Site or in CSV report. Why?
We have a site that we ran in On-Demand Crawl and Keyword Explorer. On-Demand Crawl revealed some information. However Keyword Explorer did not. We know there are ranking keywords for the site but no such keywords were detected by Moz. However, when we ran Link Explorer, 12 ranking keywords were detected and associated with the site. Why is there a discrepancy between these two reports? Thank you in advance.

How can I do a competitve comparison on keywords
Is there a way in my MOZ to compare how we rank against some of our competitors for "specific" keywords? I know in OSE I can perform a Link Metric comparison... but I want to actually do the same, but listing "keywords". Thank you

OnPage Grader double counting keywords on responsive site (hidden vs visible)
FYI - it appears that if you have a responsive site that has blocks of text that are duplicated, but Hidden or Visible depending on the screen width, that On-Page Grader will count any keywords in that text twice. I have text shown in one location to Desktop users that needed to be re-located to a different part of the page for Tablet and Phone users to keep the layout nice. And my OP Grader keyword count doesn't match what I saw on the page doing Ctrl-F to find the keywords, unless you count the Hidden text. (not hidden like cloaking or some black hat thing - just not displayed on certain devices) I guess On Page Grader just reads the source code and ignores whether the text is hidden or visible. It would be nice if it read the code as if it was a Desktop device. (suggestion for Moz staff) Does anybody know if Google also ignores device dependent Hidden vs Visible areas???
