Huge fluctuation reported by GSC for US Desktop for one keyword
-
Hi,
I'm seeing a huge rank fluctuation reported by GSC (all rank trackers reported stable rank) for one of our pages, one particular keyword, in one particular country (US), and only Desktop (not Mobile). Is anyone else encountering a similar case?
More details:
-
huge rank fluctuation reported by GSC in the US, stable in other countries (since Oct 7th)
-
all rank tracking service reported stable top rank in US cities (as well as our own friend's testing across the country)
-
only happen to 1 keyword and its close variation (other keywords that the page also ranks for are quite stable)
-
only observed fluctuation for Desktop, while Mobile is stable
-
in those low-ranked days, the average CTR is only slightly lower than normal days
Does anyone have any idea what could this be? Should I trust GSC's fluctuation or the rank tracking service's stable top rank?

Hey Alex,
I couldn't find any method there, you just put some random link to any website. Please don't spread some fake information.
Thanks

Hello,
Yes this fluctuations seems due to the recent changes in Google algorithm, May be this is also happening because of this change.

Basically, if you identify a data anomaly you shouldn't trust any of the stats (as a group). Generally GSC (Google Search Console) can be trusted, but if you have identified an issue you should question the whole dataset

Right I hope it's a bug from GSC, since all the rank tracker and our own testing couldn't agree with what the GSC reports. A related question - assuming that the average position reported by GSC is not correct in this case, how much should I trust the #impressions and #clicks data?
-
Actually I think that GSC still reports on granular keywords. The reason I think this is that, some keywords which Google's keyword planner merges (as they are similar) still show as distinct in Search Console. What you are saying is possible, but I don't think there's enough evidence to conclusively state such an opinion at this juncture. If your rank tracker starts to mirror what GSC is seeing, I would be more concerned. GSC is known to regularly experience bugs for its performance-related metrics, e.g: https://searchengineland.com/bug-in-google-search-console-performance-reports-impact-google-discover-reporting-326487

Thank you. Did you see it fluctuates on rank trackers as well or was it just GSC?

Thank you for the info! The GSC does look quite reasonable for many other keywords I am examing and is consistent with rank trackers. But for this particular keyword, it has been reporting fluctuation since 2 months ago, and we couldn't figure out why. The graph image shall at most affect the rank number by 1 or 2 at most - which doesn't explain the huge fluctuation.
I have a guess - would it be possible that, because of the BERT update, GSC converts some long-tail keywords into this short-term keyword, and if our page's rank is low for that long tail, the reported average rank is affected?
-
I would personally be more willing to trust in your rank tracker as it's independent data and you know how it works. With GSC in particular, you can have things like a knowledge graph image being hot-linked (by Google) counting as a ranking when actually no one can visit your site through it. For ranking data GSC can be very 'iffy' indeed

Unsolved Keyword List Download
I'm just getting starting with MOZ Pro and I may be missing something simple. If MOZ says my site currently ranks for 9.1K keywords, is there a way I can download to CSV that 9.1K list? I have a MOZ Pro account, but haven't figured out how to do this. Thanks for the help!

Keyword moved to 51+
I'm new to Moz so still learning the system. I was just looking at the most significant move down of some keywords. I have one 'flooding carburetor' that moved down 50+. Now my question. How do I figure out which page was used, or is that even a consideration. I have that particular phrase scattered all over the web site. Thanks for the help.

More problems with Moz - Monthly Reporting
Hello All, I may be missing something, but I only want to create monthly reports for my clients from this system. A week in SEO is a terrifying rollercoaster, but any I digress. Currently, i'm adding clients to the system, setting up Analytics, Twitter, Google+, keywords etc. I then go to the custom reports menu as I want to build my report now and schedule it to run at the end of the month, however, because a month has not yet passed, I can only create weekly report segments. This means that I have to add a client to your system and then come back a month later to build a report, this is silly, am I using this wrong or is this not right? I don't care if any data is available, I just want to create the report so I don't have to do it later ideally.

Multiple websites -- one for each brand
I am a MOZ newb, and didn't find answer to the following: We are an enterprise with four distinct brands, each acting as a (reasonably) independent subsidiary. I want to track their performance and report on keyword rankings for the enterprise. Is Moz Analytics capable of this? In Google Analytics, for instance, we have an account for each brand, and multiple properties within each account, and so on. I use 3rd-party dashboard tools to combine multiple accounts into a single report. Can I do something similar here. Thanks in advance.

Moz Analytics - Custom Report Question
Hello Moz! I haven't been here since the days of SEOMoz, but it's great to be back and i'm really pleased to see lot of shiny new tools at my disposal, but I do have a question in regards to functionality. If I have, for example, 15 clients in my dashboard and would like to run the same report for all of them. Assuming that I just finished creating a custom report for my first client, how can I duplicate this report without having to re-create this report 15 times? Additionally, while I am here. I have noticed that when I add a campaign, the last screen never finishes loading and the window seems to freeze. A quick refresh fixes this, but I thought i'd flag it 🙂

Duplicate page titles reported on same links
Moz is reporting duplicate titles on my clients website, citing different versions of the same link, one without dubs as domain.com/link and the other with dubs as www.domain.com/link. for example ... duplicate title = Warranty Requests For Custom New Home Construction in Jacksonville

http://myhjhome.com/index.php
http://www.myhjhome.com/
http://www.myhjhome.com/index.php is this just something that's always going to be reported as a duplicate title or is there a way for me to change the website so Moz doesnt report a duplicate title on the same page (since there really isnt a duplicate title in these examples)?0
