If you a symbol in the title of a webpage will this dilute the keywords in the title
thus making it rank worse in search engines

      here is an example

      <title><br /> Black Shoe Polish<br /></title>

      versus

      <title><br /> ▶ Black Shoe Polish<br /></title>

will the extra symbols count as words and thus the dilute the effectiveness of the Black Shoe Polish keyword. sort of making like 4 words instead 3.

By the way, The reason to use a symbol is to make it stand on in the search engine results

I doubt this will dilute the effectiveness of the keyword - what I would be more concerned about is a potential ranking penalty. I have seen this technique used in the past but hardly ever see it being effective these days.

I would stick to crafting well crafted titles designed for the user in mind - keeping your keywords first in the title.

Interesting, but here is the other question: within the pantheon of SEO ranking factors, how important is this to you? In other words, you seem to believe from a reader perspective it will in some way provide an increase in something other than ranking on a search engine. If that is true, and this is the only change you are going to make, I cannot see this one item changing your ranking by even one position on Black Shoe Polish (as an example). If your site is a Shoe-Polish.com, and the pages are black, brown, cordovan, and white. Someone searching for black shoe polish is just as likely to still find it. The question becomes does it then provide anything new or better for you by way of the action the visitor to the site will take? Will they be more apt to stay on the page, will they stay longer, will they take a buying action?

For me, it would have no effect as a visitor. As to worrying about a single point within all of on site SEO, I wouldn't unless it is that your site is shoe polish and you are trying to sell turtles by adding a symbol for more attention. Hope this helped a little.

What Tools Should I Use To Investigate Damage to my website

            indexed urls seo seo audit

I would like to know what tools I should use and how to investigate damage to my website in2town.co.uk I hired a person to do some work to my website but they damaged it. That person was on a freelance platform and was removed because of all the complaints made about them. They also put in backdoors on websites including mine and added content. I also had a second problem where my content was being stolen. My site always did well and had lots of keywords in the top five and ten, but now they are not even in the top 200. This happened in January and feb. When I write unique articles, they are not showing in Google and need to find what the problem is and how to fix it. Can anyone please help

Meta Titles and Meta Descriptions are not Indexing in Google

Hello Every one, I have a Wordpress website in which i installed All in SEO plugin and wrote meta titles and descriptions for each and every page and posts and submitted website to index. But after Google crawl the Meta Titles and Descriptions shown by Google are something different that are not found in Content. Even i verified the Cached version of the website and gone through Source code that crawled at that moment. the meta title which i have written is present there. Apart from this, the same URL's are displaying perfect meta titles and descriptions which i wrote in Yahoo and Bing Search Engines. Can anyone explain me how to resolve this issue. Website URL: thenewyou (dot) in Regards,

Wordpress versus html and google ranking

My current SEO has always recommended that I take my site to wordpress.  I really don't want to move to wordpress.  I don't like it... I just like writing code in raw html, css, and script.  I feel like I have more control that way. Wordpress just seems like a platform for blogs (I have my blog in wordpress). My question is, do wordpress websites typically rank better? Is there benefit to moving to it?

Page titles in browser not matching WP page title

I have an issue with a few page titles not matching the title I have In WordPress.  I have 2 pages, blog & creative gallery, that show the homepage title, which is causing duplicate title errors.  This has been going on for 5 weeks, so its not an a crawl issue.  Any ideas what could cause this? To clarify, I have the page title set in WP, and I checked "Disable PSP title format on this page/post:"...but this page is still showing the homepage title.  Is there an additional title setting for a page in WP?

Use of title tags on divs for SEO purposes

Hello community, I recently was asked by a client to analyze a website of a competitor. I did was he asked me to do but when I  looked at the source code of the website I found this code: I changed the exact words into something for privacy reasons, but I never looked at a code like this.
Using a div for an anchor I get but adding a title tag to the div? I never seen that before. Title tags on anchors, yes, using images in divs as background and then adding a title??? Does anyone have any experience with a code like this and if you do how does this impact rankings? Does it impact rankings at all and does anybody know of any correlation between the two? Looking forward for your responses. Regards Jarno
