URL redirect to a YouTube Channel?
-
Hey all,
We recently ran a video content contest on a micro site and we generated some links for the URL. In December we are planning on doing a redirect of the domain to our YouTube channel where all of the videos hosted. My question is how much SEO benefit will there be by redirecting to our YouTube channel vs redirecting to a single video from the contest. Does the strength of the channel as whole affect the videos in that channels ability to rank on YouTube and in SERPs?
The other option is to just redirect the URL to our product page on our main website, but to me that doesn't seem like it would provide the best user experience
If anyone has experience with this kind of an issue I'd appreciate your feedback. Thanks!

I like your idea of building a landing page specifically for the redirect. Didn't even think about that. I was just concerned that people following old links would be disappointed by landing on a product page or whatever. Totally makes perfect sense though. Thanks for the tip!

Why give that link juice to YouTube? Lord knows, they've got plenty of it.
Take advantage of the links you received and make them benefit your main website. Create a landing page on your main site featuring some of the best submissions embedded on the page, and include a link to your channel if visitors want to see even more videos. Then, 301 redirect the microsite to the landing page on your main website in order to get the link juice to pass through to your primary domain.
The only reason you'd want to redirect your microsite directly to the YouTube channel is if you don't have a main website and your YouTube channel is your main presence online. Even then, though, I'd generally opt in the direction of leaving the microsite up and embedding some featured videos on it. You can certainly make a page on YouTube rank decently well for a keyword, but given the lack of control you have over on-page elements, it's much more difficult than optimizing a website that you own.

What Google+ URL to Take?
I could go with my Domain Name (/+tallahasseedefense) for simplicity sake and ease of remembering. However, would there be any SEO benefit to using a Google+ with both "Attorney" and "Tallahassee" in the URL (/+Casey&TorresAttorneysatLawTallahassee)? cna4R08

Is there such thing as Youtube reverse engineering?
Is it possible, now that statistics for Youtube video is no longer available, to find where videos have been embedded on other platforms and specifically which individual sites?

How can I make embedded YouTube videos point to my domain in the search results?
We've recently moved to using YouTube for embedded videos on our site. We have a number of videos that are embedded and then a larger number of videos which are part of our YouTube channel. I've been reading recently that it's possible to get Google to list embedded video links pointing to your site rather than to YouTube itself. I am interesting in driving traffic directly from the search results to our pages rather than via YouTube. Could somebody provide a basic step by step guide on how to do this please? Or is this something that is not possible? I've been doing a lot of research online but, sadly, can't work out how to do this.

Videos not displaying within YouTube search results (query starting with '@' symbol)
We recently uploaded a video to YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ah0CgZ22NNU) only to realize that it wasn't being displayed within YouTube's internal search results when searched for by the brand name. Our partner's brand name is @WashULaw. If you were to search for @WashULaw on YouTube, you'll notice it returns a 'No Search Results' page (http://screencast.com/t/ZP3SGM5sr). However, when you search for keywords without the @ symbol (i.e. washulaw, wash u law, etc) within YouTube, our video is discovered. However, if you enter the @ symbol within their search bar and choose one of the auto-suggest keywords, you'll notice the query returns video matches (http://screencast.com/t/wkghMhRY). Looking at the view counts of these videos, they appear to be over 100K each. Our video has been indexed by YouTube (http://screencast.com/t/6xV3kW2DHQ6R) and Google (http://screencast.com/t/r4jloA0BpPf). We've even added @WashuLaw as a tag. My question, does anyone have an idea as to why our video isn't displaying when someone searches for our brand @WashULaw with the @ symbol within YouTube's search? ZP3SGM5sr

Best way to use popular YouTube channel for SEO purposes
Hi all, We have a YouTube channel containing about 25 videos we created professionally a few years ago. They are all product features and are hosted on our site for applicable products (a very small percentage of our overall number of products). This channel was largely forgotten about for a few years. It has now reached over 160k views. What's the best way to utilize these videos for SEO benefits? Any techniques anyone has to maximize our ever increasing number of views? Thanks

301 redirect .com to .co.uk to improve position in UK serps
I've set up a new campaign for a website specifically targetting a service offered in a specific UK city. It's on a .com domain, and we've managed to get a few powerful links and while its only been going for a few weeks it's starting to get decent rankings in Google.com but is nowhere to be seen in Google.co.uk. It's getting good traffic but not traffic that converts probably because it's targeted to the UK and most visitors are from the US. I've just set up Google places, changed geo targeting to the UK, I've moved over to a UK host and we're targetting UK sites for links. I think while things are still at an early stage it would be a good idea to move everything that's on the .com over to the .co.uk with a 301 redirect and send all new links over to the .co.uk. What do you guys think? Is this a good idea? Thanks

What is the SEO benefit of embedding YouTube videos on a page?
Is there SEO benefit to embedding YouTube videos made my other people or companies on pages? The indirect benefit would be a better user experience and increased perceived value and usefulness of the page which could lead to more links. Are there any other benefits?
