Www. part of url not showing on google search results.
-
When typing in fun translator into google UK, my website www.funtranslator.com is the 18th result on the 2nd page, however, there is an issue, it only shows funtranslator.com, without the www part, which is not what I want because the whole address to show up, because my campaign on seomoz pro and webmaster tools account is www.funtranslator.com not funtranslator.com.
How can I resolve this.
For not, I have a redirect that goes from funtranslator to www.funtranslator.com
I want to know how to get the full www.url into the results instead of just url.com without the www part of the url.
Also, will this affect my stats gathered in my campaign on my seomoz pro account?

Hi Ryan,
It appears that Google indexed the non www version of your page before you put the redirect in place (I am assuming that it is a 301 redirect you have used).
The problem with waiting for Google to correct the index via the 301 is that the likelihood of it being crawled very often is extremely low. There are two reasons for this
- There is only the one page accessible. No internal links leading to other pages in the site and only one link to an external site from that page.
- There is absolutely no text on the page for Googlebot (or Roger Mozbot) to crawl (the bots can't read what is written in the images)
Basically, the lack of content is providing no evidence that the bot should return very often. The bot is pretty much seeing an empty page.
The redirect is working fine, so as long as it is a permanent redirect (301) then you are good, but the main reason for using it is to consolidate all of your URL's into one. This avoids duplicate content issues and makes sure that search engines don't get confused and treat them as different sites. Both are Still valid and will work.
As to wanting Google to adjust the index so that it appears as www,funtranslator.com, if you have set it up in your Google Webmaster Tools account, go to Site Configuration, choose settings and set the preferred domain name to the WWW version.
That is the best you can do to send them the signal that you wish to use that as the preferred domain. If you don't have webmaster tools set up, then you will need to add and verify the site first.
I can't see that this will be a problem for SEOmoz, since Roger Mozbot crawls the site directly. He doesn't need Google to tell him what to do.
If you want to check this for sure, just email the help team - help [at} seomoz.org and ask them to confirm.
Hope that helps.

Need Help with www and non-www redirect
Hi everyone, I've been looking around the forum and found some similar topics but none of them have solved my problem. Anyway, I'm new to SEO and found that when I use Open Site Explorer for the www version of my site I see the links directed to my page, but none of my twitter stats show up. When I do the same for my non-www version. I see my twitter stats, but no links. Facebook seems unchanged. Also, the Page Authority is much higher for the www (I assume because of the links) It is my understanding that it doesn't matter which version of the domain is used, I just need to pick one and stick with it (on Google Webmaster Tools, etc.). And that I also need to do a 301 redirect for the version that I'm not using. The issue now is that I have a 301 redirect, and when I type in my url in any version (http, https, www, non-www) it all redirects in the browser without issue. So i know users are getting to the right page, but the Open Site Explorer still sees them as 2 different sites. My concern is that if Open Site Explorer sees it this way then Google may see it this way as well and I could be missing out on potential rankings. I'm currently doing the redirect in the .htaccess file. The redirect looks like this: RewriteEngine On
Moz Pro | | opstart
RewriteCond %{SERVER_PORT} 80
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ https://mydomain.com/$1 [R=301,L] Any Ideas on what I need to do to properly 301 redirect the site so that my preferred version can get credited with the links, twitter, and Page Authority stats? Also, I'm using wordpress and it has the URL set to the non-www version of the site. However, I think I would like to change this to the www version because most of the links are directing to www, and I also think people are more familiar with that format. Anyway, sorry for the long post. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.0 -

Why am I getting different ranking results on Google?
Because the rank checker on SEOMOZ is temporarily down for upgrade, I followed the link over to the other suggested rank checker on seobook.com which installs a plug-in to Firefox and it seems to be working fine….BUT my question is when I check out my two highest traffic keywords which are “Whitby holiday cottages” and “Whitby cottages” against my website www.endeavourcottage.co.uk it tells me I'm ranking position 2 on both Google.com and Google.co.uk but I don't think I am. When I do the same check using a proxy server called hidemyass.com to check my rankings again on Google.co.uk and .com I appeared to be lower down the rankings like position 8. Does anyone have any idea of which is the accurate reference to my rankings? What do you do to check your rankings ? And one last quick secondary question is when I searching Google chrome using same key words again I come at the top position A on the Google maps listing but using Firefox or Internet Explorer there is no Google maps visible ways that? At the end of the day out rankings are important but where are working towards more traffic...... Cheers

Truncate page URLs
We have some pages (for example a contact us form) for which the URL is modified by the CMS depending on the referring page (this helps to put the form submission in context for the sales reps who get the contact submission). The SEOmoz crawler considers each URL a new page -- and so numbers like in diagnostics are all inflated as the same page is listed multiple times (e.g. for too many links) Is there a setting to change what the crawler considers to be the same page? Here are two URLs for the same page that the reports treat as separate pages: http://www.spirent.com/About-Us/Contact_us.aspx?referurl=0F528F4D703D8BB3523738D6373AA8AD http://www.spirent.com/About-Us/Contact_us.aspx?referurl=10ACDA6055244E369395223437FDCF30 The page is actually: http://www.spirent.com/About-Us/Contact_us.aspx Thanks Ken

Bing ranking my non-www version of my site.
My site is ranking #1 on Bing for the non-www version of my homepage, but this is not showing in my ranking stats, since the site is setup in SEOMOZ as www version. Do I have to create a whole new campaign for the non-www version or is there a way to pickup these rankings?
