Inbound anchor text?
-
I have 5 keywords that I would like to target.
I have created & optimised 5 pages on my website for these words. (1 keyword optimised per page)
Should I inbound keyword anchor text to my specific pages or hit the home page with the anchor text?
-
Socialdude, that may well be the case. It also looks more natural if you have keyword links going to internal pages. Typically you'd expect keywords for a home page to be the company's name or their main niche with more specific keyword links targetting internal pages.
It sounds like your keywords are working for your homepage at the moment, so you may want to continue with that. But I would add more diversity with internal pages at the same time.
-
Here the real issue. My homepage is already ranking for my 5 keywords but they are more or less in position 8 on page 1 of google. I was thinking that when I create the 5 pages focusing on the keywords they would give me that extra bit of a push up the ranks.
-
If you created targeted landing pages then you are hoping to get those pages ranked for those search terms I assume.
Link to the internal targeted pages if you want them to rank for that keyword, unless you see the homepage already ranking for that term, if it is, then the homepage has a definite chance to rank even better. If nothing is yet ranking then go for the targeted internal landing page.
-
Well ideally I would like the homepage to rank for the keywords. Homepage it is, cheers
-
It depends on whether you want your homepage or those subpages to be ranked on the given keyword.
"Link Juice," or the value of an inbound link, decays with each step. The more pages it has to pass through, the less value it will provide. If you want the homepage to rank for all 5 phrases, then link to the homepage using those phrases, otherwise link to the subpages and allow them to creep up in the SERPs.

Text to code ratio<10% warning from website audit by SiteChecker.Pro - how important is it?
Hi to everyone, I used Sitechecker.Pro for a website audit of a client website https://bizpages.org and there was this warning (not an error!): TEXT TO CODE RATIO<10% https://sitechecker.pro/app/main/project/1839063/audit/summary How important is this to achieve good ranking? What are good ratios? I undestand that more text needs to be added to improve it? fcdcfbe438

Why is either Rogerbot or (if it is the case) Googlebots not recognizing keyword usage in my body text?
I have a client that does liposuction as one of their main services, they have been ranked in the top 1-5 for their keywords "sarasota liposuction" with different variations of the words for a long time, and suddenly have dropped about 10-12 places down to #15 in the engine. I went to investigate this and actually came to the "on-page analysis" tool for SEOmoz pro, where oddly enough it says that there is no mention of the target keyword in the body content (on-page analysis tool screenshot attached). I didn't quite understand why it would not recognize the obvious keywords in the body text so I went back to the page and inspected further. The keywords have an odd featured link that links up to an internally hosted keyword glossary for definitions of terms that people might not know directly. These definitions pop up in a lightbox upon clicking the keyword (liposuction lightbox screenshots attached). I have no idea why google would not recognize these words as they have the text in between the link, yet if there is something wrong with the code syntax etc. it might possibly hender the engine from seeing the body text of the link? any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you so much! Phn2m Phn2m.png bWr5K.png V36CL.png

Is there such thing as a good text/code ratio? Can it effect SERPs?
As it says on the tin; Is there such thing as a good text/code ratio? And can it effect SERPs? I'm currently looking at a 20% ratio whereas some competitors are closer to 40%+. Best regards,

Micro formats to block HTML text portions of pages
I have a client that wants to use micro formatting to keep a portion of their page (the disclaimer) from being read by the search engines. They want to do this because it will help with their keyword density on the rest of the page and block the “bad keywords” that come from their legally required disclaimer. We have suggested alternate methods to resolve this problem, but they do not want to implement those, they just want a POV from us explaining how this micro formatting process will work. And that’s where the problem is. I’ve never heard of this use case and can’t seem to find anyone who has. I'm posting the question to the Moz Community to see if anyone knows how microformats can keep copy from being crawled by the bots. Please include any links to sites that you know that are using micro formatting in this way. Have you implemented it and seen results? Do you know of a website that is using it now? We're looking for use cases please!

Anchor text diversity
I understand that getting links to a site all with the same anchor text is probably not a good thing, but what is a good ratio of anchor text diversity? should about 60% of the links pointing to a page that i am trying to rank be the keyword i am trying to rank for? or is it more like 20%?

How to optimize achor text links on ecommerce category page
A category page on an e-commerce sites, containing a list of the products within the category, usually shows the product image above the product text link. If both image and anchor text link to the product page, this would mean that the image is counted as the link in terms of ranking value. What would be the best way to make the anchor text count in stead of the image? I guess some ways would be: 1. Not making the product image a link

2. Using some kind of link masking / redirecting technique for the image
3. Employing a technical trick to make the anchor text link come first in the code readable by search engines. What would be the easiest way to solve this issue? Or do you believe it's not worth bothering?0
