Website coming up in omitted results for search term?
-
Hi,
My website is coming up in omitted results for search term.
Now I have heard before if this is the case then its mainly due to a duplicate content penalty.
But the content I used is unique and produced by a copywriter so its good.
Its a new site and was in the results for about 2 weeks, I changed the non www to www in webmaster tools 1 day ago and now its sitting in omitted results.
In webmaster tools I had to add the domain twice one non www and one www.
Both accounts I hooked up a sitemap.
Is it just because the site is new and its just working out where to rank me?
Just so you know the non www was indexed for the 2 weeks changed it in webmaster tools so I wanted the www one indexed and now gone into omitted results.
Cheers

Thanks
The site doesn't rank anywhere at the moment but I have just researched into the top result and these are the figures given, does not look like shed loads of work to get up there!
| Page Authority | Domain Authority | Linking Root Domains | Total Links | Facebook Shares | Facebook Likes | Tweets | Google +1 |
| 31/100 | 22/100 | 9 | 146 | 51 | 8 | 8 | 2 | -
Hi again,
Glad you are getting things sorted out now. BIG thumbs up to Shelly for the help with your IIS box - ours is a LAMP company, so thank goodness for Shelly!
Panda is intended to make it harder for low quality sites to rank, and duplicating content will earn that tag, BUT there are plenty of "dodgy" characters out there who are willing to use black hat tactics to get good rankings for stolen content in the short term (for as long as they can make money from it).
Unfortunately, as Shelly mentioned, if they have a higher authority domain at their disposal, they could end up outranking you using your own content!
Your next focus ... backlinks is one good way to stop that from happening. The stronger your Domain Authority, the harder it will be for them to outrank you.

Ok I have a 301 redirect happening from a .htaccess file.
Its redirecting from non www to www.
I have set the www in webmaster tools and deleted other.
Regarding the content, the site was indexed first with the new content, so ill check every now and then to see if anyone steals content but what can you really do about that?
I thought the panda update was to stop this sort of action?
Backlinks is the next step

Activitysuper,
I see you're using the rel=canonical on the non www version, but really you need to use a 301 re-direct on the domain with the non www to direct it to the www version (if that's which one you want to use), you can then set the www one as your preference in webmaster tools and remove the non www version from your account. You can do this quite easily in IIS on your server, by setting up a separate site for the non www version and simply using the re-direct feature to 301 it to your www site.
The site has the potential (to a googlebot) to look slightly spammy in the fact that it's a single page with no external links coming into it. I would try and get some quality links going to your domain to give it some link juice and trust.
It's also an easy site to copy from a content perspective. Someone can just come along, rip your content and setup their own page on a more established domain, so make sure this isn't happening. Google could give credit to the other site in this instance.

In order to select a preferred prefix for a domain in webmaster tools you have to add two active webmaster tools domains, one being www and the other being non www.
So,
Both of these have been set to use the prefix www and both have the same xml sitemap selected.
I'm running on a window server which does not support .htaccess files and I dont no how to use isapi.
Thanks

Hi there,
Are you saying that you have two active Google Webmaster Tools accounts for the same site and no 301 Redirect in place?

Activitysuper - Are you able to give us the URL of the page in question and the term?
Generally new sites bounce all over the place in the rankings for a couple of months at least before settling down to a position, but omitted results could be for numerous reasons.

Google not giving ranking to the intended page of my website.
Hello friends, This is my very first question, I hope I will explain my issue correctly. I have created two pages related to SSC CGL keyword on my website: https://www.ibtindia.com/ssc-cgl-notification-exam-date 2) https://www.ibtindia.com/ssc-cgl-apply-online I want to target the keyword SSC CGL Apply Online on the 2nd URL but Google is only considering the 1st page for all the "apply" related keywords as well. Can anyone suggest to me how to get the second page in rankings for its intended keywords? I will be very thankful for this help. I tried adding image but its showing dummy. Please you can check it op GOOGLE SERP Second page

What would the US traffic increase be for a website YoY if all Google SERP rankings remained the same?
This question has come up a few times with some of our clients and I've spent some time researching this question, but I can't find an answer online so hopefully, someone at MOZ has this data available to them with all the data they collect. The data points that would be needed to answer this question off the top of my head: Increase in the # of Google Searches in the US YoY The decrease in CTR for organic results "10 blue links" which take a searcher off of Google YoY, as Google continues to keep more searchers on Google.com with rich snippets, increased AdWords prominence, AdWords extensions, etc I'm sure this greatly varies per industry, but an average for all industries is all that is needed to answer this client question. Many thanks in advance and I've included a video which hopefully helps to better explain the search "plus/minus" that we can expect to see as SEOs in 2018. WF1yLlJC6LetnpbD3

Image ranking in Google but not in Bing and Yahoo search results
Hello, I have one image from my blog post which is ranking well (ranking in first page for all related keywords) in Google web search as well as image search. Getting pretty good visits from the image result itself for past few days. But this image doesn't appear/rank anywhere in Bing and Yahoo search results. Can anyone tell any specific reason for the same? Any methods to follow? Any solution? Please guide me.

Would you instinctively mistrust a company that has the top 5 or more search listings?
I have seen a few "lucky"(?) companies dominate spots 1-5 of search results. When I see that, I generally go to #6, 7, or even 10 before clicking. My gut reaction is that the company with 1-5 has manipulated content just to pull me in - much like the guys on the streets of NYC or Vegas shoving handbills at you. Is there any evidence/research/poll about the consumer/user reaction when this occurs?

Noticed Bing UK and Yahoo UK are almost exactly the same ranking results?
I've run a few keyword ranking updates today and I've noticed that Bing UK and Yahoo UK results are almost exactly the same? This is unusual, the results for these two engines rarely tally with one another. Is anyone seeing the same?

Irratic page rank results - why?
Hi, Hi- I've changed the title and reposted this question as I didn't get any insight. I really am going around in circles for this; so any help that can be given would be really appreciated.I know that you guys have the knowledge so really hoping you can share it! Thanks - background: I run two sites: www.ragsmetals.com and www.yourgoldfund.com: They offer similar products but to different markets: one is predominently trade, one predominently customer focused. They vie for the same keywords.e.g. Buy Gold My Issue: I have been trying to build www.yourgoldfund.com up from an SEO point of view; it is FALLING in the rankings; I am doing NOTHING with www.ragsmetals.com and it is rising in the rankings. I checked webmaster to see if there were any warnings as a result of penguin (found out how to do this on here - thanks for that!) there are none. I have optimized the pages a lot. I have put time into getting in bound traffic, and even more excitingly some experts (from reputable domains) have just linked to our site because they like our content! So to me things should be improving . NOTE: My OSE listed inbound links are incredibly diferent from google Webmaster. What can I do. I am a scientific person so I love the fact that I have 2 sites to compare...interested to hear your thoughts. Many thanks in advance

Hi guys.. post-penguin my website coming in and out of serps every other day... what reason for that? ie. #11 --> #300+
We had one of the pre-penguin "unnatural links " messages in WMT - then Penguin hit April 24th/25th.. wee then set to work on Link profile... since 19th May we have had numerous search phrases come 'back' into rank pre-penguin for a day ie.. #5 - #10 and then drop the next.. ie 300+ this has been happening across a wide range of key phrases.... in fact it may well be that the key phrases are added to the serps 'briefly' or for a set amount of time... but our ranking checker checks daily so while it appears to be every other day in and out there may be another pattern... but the question is What is Google doing here and Why? any suggestions?

Local search advice?
Some sites i promote limit their services to 50 miles around their location how best is it to optimise their websites. Currently they don't rank very well for non localised search terms but they do very well for term which include their local area. is this something they should be concerned about? Any tips and advice on optimising for local search are greatly appreciated. thanks
