How to Fix Duplicate Content Issue of Manufacturer Details Paragraph?
-
I am surviving with Google's crawling issue. Google had not index my product pages yet. I have Google a lot and read too many articles to get it done. But, I did not get satisfy answer with it.
I just checked my product pages and found that: There is one tab with Manufacturers Details containing one paragraph.
This content is available on too many product pages with same manufacturer. You can know more by visiting following URL.
http://www.vistastores.com/indoorlighting-elklighting-d1472.html
So, Does it matter to stop my crawling? If yes so How can I fix it?

I have read entire blog post which was recommend by you. Kate Morris has given us such a great post and suggest to create unique content on product pages.
But, It's quite hard for me to create unique content for Manufacture Detail tab for 7K+ products.
Can I go forward with Ajax or Java Query to make it hidden. So, crawler will not able to crawl that content. What you think about it?

No, That content is displaying in all product pages. I am able to find out that content in source code.

Hi CP,
This is an issue for all stores that use the information supplied by manufacturers without any change. Unfortunately the sheer number of people out there with the same content duplicated across hundreds or even thousands of sites, makes it a serious problem.
Search engines will see this as low quality content and it will certainly make it more difficult to rank above your competitors. After all, by copying everyone else, you are not providing anything of extra value for the user.
Katie Morris wrote a blog post recently on this subject - eCommerce Syndicated Content: How to Win. In it she explains how you can improve your content very easily by doing some clever, but simple editing to improve rankings.
Hope that helps,
Sha

Is the extra paragraph content on a different URL or just hidden with Ajax?
look at placing canonical on these pages and having a unique product page for every item.

Duplicate content and canonicalization confusion
Hello, http://bit.ly/1b48Lmp and http://bit.ly/1BuJkUR pages have same content and their canonical refers to the page itself. Yet, they rank in search engines. Is it because they have been targeted to different geographical locations? If so, still the content is same. Please help me clear this confusion. Regards

Duplicate content with same URL?
SEOmoz is saying that I have duplicate content on: http://www.XXXX.com/content.asp?ID=ID http://www.XXXX.com/CONTENT.ASP?ID=ID The only difference I see in the URL is that the "content.asp" is capitalized in the second URL. Should I be worried about this or is this an issue with the SEOmoz crawl? Thanks for any help. Mike

URL query considered duplicate content?
I have a Magento site. In order to reduce duplicate content for products of the same style but with different colours I have combined them on to 1 product page. I would like to allow the pictures to be dynamic, i.e. allow a user to search for a colour and all the products that offer that colour appear in the results, but I dont want the default product image shown but the product image for that colour applying to the query. Therefore to do this I have to append a query string to the end of the URL to produce this result: www.website.com/category/product-name.html?=red My question is, will the query variations then be picked up as duplicate content: www.website.com/category/product-name.html www.website.com/category/product-name.html?=red www.website.com/category/product-name.html?=yellow Google suggest it has contingencies in its algorithm and I will not be penalised: http://googlewebmastercentral.blogspot.co.uk/2007/09/google-duplicate-content-caused-by-url.html But other sources suggest this is not accurate. Note the article was written in 2007.

Standard Responses Causing Duplication Issues
Hi Guys We have a Q&A section on our site which we reply to customers using standard responses which have already been approved. This is causing a lot of duplication errors, however due to the nature of our business we need to use these responses. Is there anything that we can do to stop this? Matthew

Forget Duplicate Content, What to do With Very Similar Content?
All, I operate a Wordpress blog site that focuses on one specific area of the law. Our contributors are attorneys from across the country who write about our niche topic. I've done away with syndicated posts, but we still have numerous articles addressing many of the same issues/topics. In some cases 15 posts might address the same issue. The content isn't duplicate but it is very similar, outlining the same rules of law etc. I've had an SEO I trust tell me I should 301 some of the similar posts to one authoritative post on the subject. Is this a good idea? Would I be better served implementing canonical tags pointing to the "best of breed" on each subject? Or would I be better off being grateful that I receive original content on my niche topic and not doing anything? Would really appreciate some feedback. John

Why are my pages getting duplicate content errors?
Studying the Duplicate Page Content report reveals that all (or many) of my pages are getting flagged as having duplicate content because the crawler thinks there are two versions of the same page: http://www.mapsalive.com/Features/audio.aspx http://www.mapsalive.com/Features/Audio.aspx The only difference is the capitalization. We don't have two versions of the page so I don't understand what I'm missing or how to correct this. Anyone have any thoughts for what to look for?

Avoiding duplicate content/same pages
hi I have been checking through all the Q and A but i i'm still not sure how you get http://www.domain.co.uk/index.html to be just http://www.domain.co.uk/? Do you add canonical to the index page to point to the page you prefer and then add a 301 redirect? thanks
