Too many links on my site

Hi there everybody, I am a total SEO newbie and i am burning with questions. I had my site crawled and found out that it contains too many links. The reason is that it is a site where I constantly write news and articles and each one of them is a new Joomla item, thus a new link. I actually thought lots of content is good for SEO. How am I supposed to reduce the link amount?

Thanks a lot for the help. I realised too that the tag cloud is a real pain because it did compete with great pages if my site for a particular keyword so I put a no follow on these results and think will have to do it for each tag.

Hi, thanks for sharing the domain.
I gave a fast check to the cache version of the home page, and noticed how the Tags Cloud is actually seen very well by the bots. Those tags are links and are surely many links. Therefore, I would suggest you to avoid that tag cloud if possible or use a module/component that output the tag clouds in a "invisible" way (i.e.: ajax).
Finally, I would not go crazy if I cannot have less than 100 links per page. Sometimes that is impossible due to the same nature of the site.

To answer your question, the SEOmoz tool will issue a warning any time there is over 100 links on a given page. I notice your home page is well under 100 links. What is the URL to the page which gives an error?
I would suggest you install the MOZbar. It is an extension that works with FireFox or Chrome browsers and is very helpful for SEO analysis. http://www.seomoz.org/seo-toolbar

Hey there, thanks for the tip. But by page do you mean a single page on a website containing over a hundred links (website.com/page1.html), or do you mean a whole website that has many different pages, each of them a seperate link
website.com/link1.html, website.com/link2.html....website.com/link100.html
Just making sure i am not lost in translation here.

Lots of quality, unique content is good for SEO. The warning will be specific to each page, do you really need so many links on one page? The 100 limit isn't firm, it was a guideline Google mentioned a few years ago, but their crawlers have become much more sophisticated since then. I think there was a suggestion that Google wouldn't crawl more than 100 links per page, or wouldn't pass PageRank on to the 101st+ links - it's not such an issue any more.

How do you link your adaptive mobile site to Google Analytics?
With Google now saying they're putting a lot more emphasis on mobile sites, we recently got notifications from Google Webmaster Tools saying that some of our pages are not built for mobile. Some of these pages, however have an adaptive page that when you visit from a mobile phone (m.mysite.com), you're taken to instead of the desktop version. My question is, how do I let Google know that I have an adaptive site and not get penalized for poor mobile usability? I already have Google Analytics on the mobile site, I just need to somehow let Webmaster tools / Google's web crawlers know that they should be looking to my mobile site for usability, not the desktop site. Any advice is appreciated!

Question about breaking out content from one site onto many
We have a website and domain -- which is well-established (since 1998) -- that we are considering breaking apart for business reasons. This is a content site that hosts articles from a few of our brands in portal fashion. These brands are represented in print with their own magazines so it's important to keep their presence separate. All of the content on the site is related to a general industry, with each brand covering a unique segment in the industry. For example, think of a toy industry site that hosts content from it's brands covering stuffed animals, electronics and board games. The current thinking is to break out the content from a couple brands to their own sites and domains. The business case for this branding purposes. I'm of the opinion that this is a bad idea as we would likely see a noticeable decline in search traffic across the board, which we rely on for impressions for our advertisers. If we take the appropriate steps to carefully redirect pages to the new domains what kind of hit should we expect to take from this transition? Would it make much difference if we were transition from 1 to 2 sites vs 1 to 4? Should this move be avoided all together? Any advise would be appreciated.

Should I consider webmaster tools links and linked pages ratio to remove unnatural links?
I don't know this is a suitable place for post this question. Anyway I have done it. According to the Google webmaster tools, Links to your site page. My blog has considerable amount of links, from linked pages (from certain domain names). For an instance please refer following screenshot. When I am removing unnatural links, should I consider these, links from linked pages ratio? Almost all of these sites are social bookmarking sites. When I publish a new bookmark on those sites, they automatically add a homepage link. As a result of that, I got a huge number of home page links from linked pages. What is your recommendation? To many links on page. Big or small issue for eCommerce
On my site I have around 3k pages and about 90 categories. Most of which have a sensible number of products but some have only a few products and some have loads. if I have say 40 links on the page ignoring the producand is it a big problem if I have more than 60 products on the page? Assuming a link limit per page of 100 user wise we have filters and sorts for thme to find what they breed without issue. But simply from an seo point of view how damaging would I be to have the 23 "to many links on page issues? Worth fixing by making two categories and splitting out products even tho it would hinder the user.

Value of an embedded site vs. a direct link?
We have a new site that is a great resource for a serious subject (suicide). I have been getting many requests from various communities and clinics about help on embedding our site in their websites. Although I certainly don't want to keep this resource from being used as much as possible, I am curious about the SEO costs/benefit to having someone embed our site on their own website rather than provide a link to our website directly from theirs.

No results with Link Analysis
So I have been working with a domain since November last year that still shows no improvement in regards to the link analysis. I am baffled because we have gotten them onto the first page on Google for a few of the keywords we are optimizing. Any help with this is greatly appreciated and I am a noob so definitely open to learning. Thanks in advance to all of you. Will 301 redirecting a site multiple times still preserve the original site value?
Hi, All! If site www.abc.com was already 301 redirected to site www.def.com, and now the site owner wants to redirect www.def.com to www.ghi.com - is there any concern that it's not going to work, and some of the original linkjuice, rank, trust, etc. is going to vanish? Or as long as the 301s are set up right, should you be able to 301 indefinitely? Does anyone have any experience with actually doing this and seeing good/bad/neutral results? Is it true that If there is a huge number of links from the source page then each link will provide very little value in terms of passing link juice ?
