How to tell OSE about new backlinks
-
I've recently obtained some great backlinks from popular news sites but OSE hasn't picked up on them yet. Is there a way to "show" OSE what's happened, or do I just have to wait?
-
No Problem. As other posters said, it may take some time till the new crawl results are updated in OSE.
I have noticed many links to our site that are not included in OSE.
-
My observations are then if you add a site with existing links, OSE then trys to add pages that link to that site, as they seem to apear the next crawl, but are not theior already

ive had the same problem before. It is only a matter of time before OSE picks up on them, but unfortunately there is nothing you can to do expedite the process. If you are looking to build a report Google Webmaster tools or yahoo site explorer has a more complete link profile available for most websites. If you want to pull an SEOmoz report for a client though, your domain authority is derived from links that OSE gathers (from what i can tell), so you may want to explain that to your client and also show them the link profile from the sites suggested above.
Hope that helps!

OSE shows links based on the Linkscape crawl of the web. The crawl itself takes 2-3 weeks, and then the data is processed which takes 1-2 weeks. The next OSE update will occur on October 18th. Depending on when the links were added they may or may not appear in the next update. If not, they should definitely appear in November's update.
Realistically there is nothing more you can do speed up the process.

Yeah, I want to see where I stand vs my competitors.
Thanks for the quick answer.

There is no way to show OSE backlinks. OSE uses a web crawler that finds links automatically. It will not find every link, but should find most.
Any reason you want it to show in OSE?

Why are my month old links not showing in WMT or OSE?
Hey Everyone! I've been working hard on boosting my ranking after launching my new site 2 months ago. I realize that this process normally takes some time however I've come across a questions that I'm not sure I know that answer to... I had some really solid back links added about a month ago but nothing is showing up yet in WMT on them. When I run an OSE I don't see any links there (not even under newly discovered). Can someone please help with some insight on why they might now be showing. Is it just a time thing or should I be doing something different?Any insight will be very helpful. Thanks

Internal Links Data on OSE and poor ranking despite excellent metrics
Hi folks, I use OSE a lot for comparing where we stand against our competitors and I'm always surprised to see most of our competitors have loads more internal links than we do. For example, comparing 'www.kensyard.co.uk' with 'www.sterlingbuild.co.uk', we are better on every Root Domain Metric except for the Total Links metric and this is down to a much smaller number of internal links. They are ranking better than us in Google so I'm wondering if there is something wrong with the way our site is coded / structured that means Google and OSE are not picking up our internal link network properly? We have over nine times as many external root domains linking to our site than theirs, which is surely a far more valuable metric than internal links right? Or is there an issue with our internal link structure that is confusing Google and causing us to rank lower? Many thanks for any advice, Luke

How can I tell what day I added my keywords to the keyword ranking tool?
I can't tell if a keyword is newly ranking or if it just started ranking because I added it to the system. I have added keywords piecemeal over several months and I can't remember which ones I added on which date. Can anyone help me with this?

What's Happened To OSE's External Links For My Site?
Hi, I'm just taking my first steps with Open Site Explorer. I've hit a problem that I'd be really grateful for some help with. I'm running a website (that I didn't create) and want to get a clear picture of the inbound links. When I enter the URL into the OSE search bar, there are no external domains listed under the 'Inbound Links' and 'Linking Domains' tabs. Only internal site links are registered. Setting the filters, "only external" + "pages on this root domain", under the Inbound Links tab, does bring up a list of external sites. But I haven't had to enter filters just to see a list of inbound links with any other sites. Also, the breakdown under the Linking Domains tab remains the same - only links within my site are shown. Does this ring a bell? Any ideas what I might be doing wrong, or what might be wrong with my site to cause this problem? Cheers for helping, Josh

In OSE "Followed Linking Root Domains" = "links from homepages"
In OSE's, "Followed Linking Root Domains" are defined as "The number of root domains that have at least one followed link to a page or domain." Does this mean that if one of my competitors has, let's say, 1000 followed linking root domains, they have a link pointing to them on the homepage of 1000 other sites? Thanks for your help!

What does this error mean when starting a new campaign
hi just about to start a new campaign to i can monitor my website and i get this message up but not sure what this means. Roger has detected a problem: We have detected that the domain www.headlineplus.com and the domain headlineplus.com both respond to web requests and do not redirect. Having two "twin" domains that both resolve forces them to battle for SERP positions, making your SEO efforts less effective. We suggest redirecting one, then entering the other here. can anyone please let me know why this message comes up please

Does the Moz Toolset offer anything like Raven's Backlink Explorer from fresh index
It seems like a useful feature where I can see what backlinks look like right now vs. the last monthly Moz dataset update. That is mostly because my site is new, but wondered if I was missing something. Thanks, Steven
