Help with creating a widget
-
I would like to create a widget that I can give to other website owners to place on their blog. Obviously the point of doing this is to get backlinks. The widget is a simple calculator. (Think of it like a mortgage calculator).
I see that there are two ways of creating widgets:
1. Javascript
2. Iframe
I've been reading this excellent tutorial on building a widget using javascript and jquery:http://alexmarandon.com/articles/web_widget_jquery/. However, with my limited knowledge of javascript it's going over my head.
I understand that if I offer a widget that is in an iframe that the links don't get counted as backlinks, but rather as links from my own site. But, what if I offered code like this:
<iframe src="http://www.mysite.com" width="300" height="250"></iframe>
This tool was provided by MySite
Would that be helpful to me?

Thank you!

What you've got there looks good to me! The iframe method is what you want to do for the widget. I'd be wary of trying to load additional Javascript on other people's web pages. The physical link ends up on their page, so it should count.
Note that by putting the link on their page, all their CSS is going to get applied to it, so the
and <a>tags might not look the same from site to site, but it should be consistent with the style of the page they place it on. If you want the text and link to stand out a bit, you could add your own styling to the text (specifying color, size, font-family, hover, etc).</a>
<a></a>
<a>And if you'll allow me to nitpick, I'd say "is provided", and put a period between the</a> and
.

Alrogthimc penalty due to pharma hack that created drug links to home page. What to do?
Our site: Starcitylimo.com got destroyed by a pharma styled hack to their wordpress site. After having to re build the site from scratch to remove the virus, it was found that hundreds or even thousands of pharma links from overseas sites point to his home page (so we can't just 404 the pages). Contacting the sites for removal does nothing. Added to dissavow 4 months ago did nothing. He's page 5 for every keyword he was position 5 or better for. Is this one of those situations where its time to move on to a new domain?

Help needed regarding 1:1 Redirection
Hi all, We are currently working on a very large site having approximately 5000+ pages and its going to be 301 redirected to a new domain. For this we need to redirect each and every page on a 1:1 basis as mentioned in the Webmaster Central guide. Now the site is in flt file and not in CMS and is becoming very tough to set manually redirection for these pages. The site is hosted in a Windows server and using IIS web config file. Now any help regarding any automated or easy way to do the 1:1 redirection will be appreciated. Thanks in advance,

Help! Optimizing dynamic internal search results pages...
Hi guys, Now I have always been against this, and opted to noindex internal search results pages to stop the waste of link juice, dupe content, and crawl loops... however, I'm in a discussion with somebody who feels there may be a solution, and that the pages could actually be optimized to rank (for different keywords to the landing pages of course). Anybody come across such a thing before? My only solution would be still to noindex and then build static pages with the most popular search results in but that won't suffice in this case. Any recommendations would be much appreciated 🙂 Thanks, Steve 🙂

How To Create Dynamic WordPress Tags
Does anyone know how to make WordPress "tag" pages automatically generate a description based on the posts included in the tag? I have a lot of tags, and most of them rank well for long tail keywords. However I have noticed that although they have a dynamically generated "title meta tag" they do not generate a "description meta tag". I know WordPress lets you customize the description for each tag, but I have way to many for that. I need the description meta to be auto generated from the posts that are being tagged, rather than not including one at all. Does anyone know how to do this?

How important is it to create a subdomain?
I was just reading an article about how Hubpages claims they pulled through from Panda by dividing their content up on subdomains. I'm wondering if anyone else has had similar success? Also, Panda aside, how important do you think it is to separate different types of content out on separate subdomains?
