Thanks, Benjamin. It's not that we don't know how, I was more interested in best-in-class examples on the internet. I've seen examples of slideshows/galleries that either have regular pagination or they have a jquery slideshow implementation that doesn't load new pages.
Just curious if there are non e-commerce examples of 'view all' pages out there.
Does anyone have a good example of a photo gallery with an optional view all page implementation? The only view all examples I can find are ecommerce pagination.
Robert we tried everything. We had both www and non www verified, and and set the preferred domain to www.
During this ridiculous exercise we went back and verified both, redid the redirects and tried the process all over and keep getting the same error.

Followed Google's instructions for using the Change of Address Tool in GWT to move rethinkisrael.org to www.fromthegrapevine.com. I'm getting this message, "We tried to reconfirm ownership of your old site (rethinkisrael.org) and failed. Make sure your verification token is present, and try again."Even though the site is verified, we undid the DNS change, and checked the meta verification tag. The tag is correct. And, since the site is ALREADY verified there was NO way to 'veryify' in GWT again. The message in GWT says "verification successful."We redid the DNS change, tried again to do the address change and get the same error message. Any ideas?
I agree you SHOULD be ok, but not knowing exactly what you're duplicating, I thought I'd send this video from Matt Cutts on content stitching.
If you're moving a site, Google's recommendations are to move the content and redirect. However, it sounds like you're looking for a fresh start.
Are you sure it's the links? Are you also concerned about EMD penalty or just hoping for a fresh start?
Good luck! I hope it works. Whenever I'm having a hard time trying to figure out a solution, I try to find examples out there of who's already accomplishing it and back into it. Keep me posted!
Rather than getting hung up on the 'MD' part for the Google Plus profile itself, have you considered setting up a page for 'Doctor Bla Bla bla' and then on the website for which you're establishing authorship, the user name can be whatever you want.
If you go to Google AdSense and look up 'Doctor' under people and pages, you'll find plenty of profiles that begin with 'Doctor' in the name.
You just need to establish an approved profile in Google, and you can provide extensive credential information in the 'About' section. Then link it to their profile on the website for whatever user name you like, A la, "Dr. Bla Bla Bla, MD"

Thanks for checking in Christy. We found that even with some of these 'shortcut' tools, once we drop it into Google's Structured Data Testing Tool, we often still have some things to fix like 'fn' or a time code or something.
Our writers are finding it's easier to hand code than clean up what's put out by some of the tools.

Agreed. Content should be unique wherever you post it. Re-sharing content occasionally might be OK, but as a social media user, I wouldn't follow two accounts that post the exact same information. I'd stick to focusing on one page.

Thanks. I saw this tool as well, and noticed they have no recipe specific schema creator.
We use Drupal, and the template the writers would need to use is 500% more time consuming than coding.
With all of Google's reiterating lately about 'If you build content, links will come' I'd tread carefully here. Better to create stellar, link worthy content that earns traffic on its own. Plus, with all of the concern about passing page rank, many bloggers are moving toward nofollowing.
Create awesome content, market cautiously, analyze what gets traffic and what doesn't. Refine. Rinse. Repeat or Adjust accordingly to what your audience wants and needs.
That said, myblogguest.com, is a community of guest bloggers featured by noneother than Moz, Search Engine Land and BlogHer. Looks like it's kind of a 'dating site' for blog content.

Our CMS doesn't support a user friendly plugin to create markup for recipes, so we have to do it manually. Does anyone know of a schema creator tool for recipes? Raven tools has one for every other content type.

We see this too. We have canonicals in place, and we still see the error. And there's no insight into which parameters are causing issues.
Agree, Doug. Links for link sake is not a good idea, but for an ecommerce site without a ton of navigation, links are a great way to cross-merchandise their products.
In fact, they might be wise to use a product recommendation engine to elevate and expose more products during the shopping experience.
Agree with Jan. These are, in essence, paid links and Google has been very vocal about the fact that paid links should not pass page rank.
If these are banner ads with a campaign tag, Google may be aware that they are ads. To be safe, why not ensure that links from affiliates are 'nofollow'.

I would ask a different question, "Why am I writing an article just for SEO?" Search engines have cautioned against thin content written specifically for "SEO" purposes, and years ago created Panda to penalize this type of content expressly.
The better question is, what is my existing content missing? How can I focus on content marketing? That is how do I optimize the pages I already have to be more visible, engaging and share-worthy. And, how can I market and syndicate my content in a non-spammy way?
Not knowing your website, it would be hard to determine what's missing or what could be improved.
Elizabeth, think of internal links as walking a visitor to content you'd like them to read, or that you think they might find valuable as relevant to the content they're already on.
Links not only help the user experience, but they tell every audience which pieces of content you find valuable and relevant.
The anchor text you use should be intuitive and helpful for the reader. Sometimes that means using the exact title of the page you'll be going to. Other times it means developing the anchor text as if you are the reader i.e. why would I leave the page to visit this link? Is it more helpful than the page I'm on? Is it supportive research to support my story?
If you're an ecommerce site, it is helpful to link to related products within that category or collection or other products someone might need.
If you think of every page as a standalone page that someone entered from search, how would they know to get to related products?

Thanks, Tom. I'm quite puzzled because I don't see anything that would indicate why organic search pages per visit have dropped 7%.
404s and server errors are fairly stable. We did see a spike last Monday from spam that we have since fixed, so not sure if that would translate to organic.
Our organic traffic was growing in the teens week over week, and in the past few weeks, we are down by 2% or flat. I know this is kind of a micro look, but I try to stay on top of things as much as possible.
And now the pages per visit are down two weeks in a row. We're a news media site, so I'm trying to see if I can see a pattern, but can't seem to find one.

If any other ideas pop into your head about pages per visit or ideas on stabilizing traffic, I'd be grateful.

404 pages seem to be stable as do referring sites, and no navigation updates. I'm not sure about the GA tagging. I did not implement the tagging, so I wouldn't know where to look to find out.

Related question. We just moved to a CDN for our images. Our site is www.mnn.com and our CDN is http://images.mnn.com/. The only thing we’re allowing Google to crawl are the images, so we shouldn’t have any duplicate content issues.
However, what I AM seeing is several thousand warnings in Google Webmaster Tools for our video sitemap. Our video sitemap contains about 618 videos, but we have 2,472 errors citing “Sitemap contains urls which are blocked by robots.txt” which I believe is related to the video icons in search.
When I look for a video in Google, I still see our icons related. I can’t seem to figure this one out.
Any thoughts?

Related question. Our IT team moved to a CDN, and said that they 'noindexed' our Image URLs on our site.
Since there aren't technically dupe content issues with images, should we allow Google to index images in both our old sitemap AND the new CDN??
I set our site's preferred domain back on January 28. We had a www and non www domain being indexed.
Since then, I've seen the number or results for our site site operator (site:) decline dramatically.
Not sure if this is a good thing or bad thing. So, I'm trying to see if it's unique to our site.
My gut is that the numbers are probably leveling out to where they should be and the duplicates are falling out, but I would think that as I see number of results for non www decline, the number of results for www would increase.
Any thoughts? Anyone else seeing fluctuations in results using site: ?

I've received no messages from Google about 'iffy' links whatsoever, and the links they're reporting in Webmaster Toosl have declined by 10 MILLION since October.
We did go through a CMS upgrade in December which I believe had some impact, and then I set a preferred domain at the end of last month, but we were bleeding links before then.
Any idea what could have happened? We don't engage in any link building schemes whatsoever, and like I mentioned, I've received no messages at all from Google regarding a penalty.
Thanks! Follow-up info. I looked a little deeper and noticed that after our CMS upgrade, we saw a loss in google.com/URL referral traffic. If I understand that correct, that's the traffic that comes from a referral link someone pulled from Google.
I know we had a bunch of 404s that have since been rectified, but we haven't recovered. Is there a portion of GA tracking code attributed to google.com/URL that we may have inadvertently dropped?

Hey all, After doing a lot of research, and verifying here in the forum, I set our site's preferred domain on monday. We had no preferred domain set for years, but we were already redirecting the non www site to the www one. So, it was evidently an oversight. The day after I set the preferred domain (Jan 29) our google referral traffic hit an all time low. Any other thoughts on the cause? Any ideas on why setting a preferred domain would be a bad idea? I've looked everywhere, because I suspected the same thing. There is nothing on the page, in the comments or in the code that would create this situation virtually across the board.
It wouldn't be that big of a deal, but it's happening with tons of content.
Unfortunately, with a news media website, we have to have time stamps, but even if we didn't, I would have no clue how Google is assigning the dates that they are.
We're a news media site with content that has been live for a few years. All of a sudden, Google is showing our content (even though no one has touched the file) with a date stamp of '3 days ago'. Even for content that is years old.
I checked the date it was last cached, and it doesn't even match. The URLs were last cached on January 16, but the date stamp says '3 days ago.'
From where does Google pull the date stamp? Any ideas?

I'm in the process of trying to set a preferred domain in webmaster tools -- to set our www version as preferred vs. the non www. version. IT is already redirecting non-www to www, but I get this message when trying to change settings "Part of the process of setting a preferred domain is to verify that you own http://mnn.com/. Please verify http://mnn.com/."
While we own the domain, I am not sure how we can have Google access a file at [http://mnn.com/some_file when we are forwarding all requests for non-www to our www site.
Note: The apache rewrite predates me and I'm not sure how / why we have two domains set up, but I'm trying to fix the preferred domain now.Am I able to verify the non version once the redirect is in place.Any ideas??? Help???Thanks!Lisa
BTW, I already posted my issue in the google news publisher forum to no avail. 
It quite literally coincided with the rollout of the new CMS. We averaged 2K visits a day from Google News and now we get nothing.
I would definitely start by removing the canonical tag. Essentially, you're telling Google that your page is not the preferred version of the page, and that the preferred version doesn't exist.
Depends on whether or not you have wordpress.com or wordpress.org. Wordpress.com doesn't support plugins.
I think we all know by now that buying links never bodes well. It's not sustainable and if Google catches on it could hurt worse than being patient.
Definitely submit a sitemap, and work on your long term social media strategy.
You're never going to be able to 100% control who's linking to you. As long as you have a diverse link profile comprised primarily of links earned from developing useful, quality content you won't likely be penalized.
That said, I WOULD evaluate the link profile to determine if it's heavily weighted from sites that Google is scrutinizing i.e. Directories, Low Quality Article Marketing Sites, etc. and determine where you have opportunity to develop social worthy content to elevate your profile.
Hoping someone can help. I've tried the Google forum which is it's usual vacuous hole of no help.
We recently upgraded our CMS which now includes automated sitemaps (not sure if this impacts news sitemaps, though). Anyway, after rollout, we're no longer getting any traffic from Google News.
Sequence of Events:
1. Dec. 13 launch
2. Google news referral traffic stopped
3. IT tried to 'fix' and now we're getting the elusive 'publication name' message
The publication name specified in your Sitemap does not match the publication name we have for your site in our database. Please check that the publication name in your Sitemap exactly matches the publication name displayed for your articles in Google News.
4. Retested sitemap
When I retest the news sitemap, it returns 0 errors.
When I do a site:mnn.com (our website) on the Google New Homepage, new content is showing up in SERP
Yet, still no google news referral traffic.
Our news sitemap is www.mnn.com/googlenews.xml
Can someone help? We're a news site, and can't afford to lose this traffic. Would love an early Christmas present.

For the past three days, I've been trying to use pivot tables on a couple of reports, most importantly I'm trying to use a pivot table on the All Pages report. I'd like to pull it for a year so I can see what our traffic sources are for top pages. I keep getting an error in Google Analytics that says, "Resource is Not Available. Please Try Again Later." See attached image.
I've condensed my date range to a month, just in case a year's data was too much and I still get the error. I'm unable to use pivot tables in ANY report, without getting this message. Is anyone else having issues?EgZ25

We are a news site that work very quickly in publishing content. So, we have to automate as much as possible. As I mentioned we have a rather rigid CMS and strong feelings about linking our author's bylines to their bio on our domain.
So, I'm not sure if having two links from the actual article will be super streamlined. So, knowing that there's a desire to link the author byline to their bio on our domain, am I going about it the right way or do I need to tweak my process?
Or is there a way to add the link href in the head tag as well as have the visible byline go to their on domain bio.
I know I'm making it more confusing than it needs to be.
Between Google's confusing instruction on implementing rel=author and the volumes of blog posts, I'm sufficiently confused.
We have a bunch of writers on our site that we'd like to expose in search and connect with their content. I'd like their bylines to link to their author page rather than to their Google+ profile. So, I'm thinking this is what I need to do:
1. Have writers create a Google+ profile linking to their bio page on our site in the "contributor" section of their Google+ profle
2. Add the link rel=author tag to the of their author bio page like this
3. Link their bylines on each story to their author page like this
Is this right? I'm working with an inflexible CMS so I have to go through IT, which means I have to get this right the first time.
Any feedback/ corrections/ improvements are much appreciated.
I'm having a hard time finding the actual pros and cons of implementing Google Site Search on a website. Thoughts? Any data on bounce rate of internal SERP because UX doesn't look like the website?
I know you can customize, but most examples I've seen still look pretty different from the stie's native style.
Any other cons? Data issues, etc?
