I have people working on correcting the content issues.
The issue remaining is google will only index half of the site. I'm not sure why this is. Do you know of any sitemap testing tools?

I monitor and track 20-25 sites. I got a -1 in DA across the board this month. Has anyone else experienced this. It's possible my server/cms guys have made a global change.
Has anyone at Moz or anyone in the community experienced this?
In my opinion, I would say less is more. If you have lots of pages with low page rank you will dilute your overall domain authority. Keep your content rich. Combine and cornerstone content where possible (into less pages), then amplify through social media.

A soft 404 means that a URL on your site returns a page telling the user that the page does not exist and also a 200-level (success) code to the browser. Can I heave an example URL??
Once google indexes pages it checks for the page from their own index. So the links may exist in googles database rather than being a link on your site or someone elses site.
When google checks for these pages: is your website responding with a 404? Or is your website presenting a 200 for some reason.
Maybe in the absence of the page your content management system is presenting a duplicate of a page further up the hierarchy? for example
Google needs to have a 404 response a few times before it will disappear from search console.
That's weird. I'm having the exact same issue.
My accommodation section isn't ranking.
The root page of the section is (accommodation) but none of the content pages inside
e.g.
https://www.visitliverpool.com/accommodation/hotels-in-liverpool should be ranking for 'hotels in Liveprool'

In regards to the internal clicks. I guess I was hoping that all the clicks would essentially be added together. As in - All of the actual page clicks and all the clicks variations with URL parameters.
But as internal clicks are not a ranking factor it doesn't matter.
Are the links to the page with parameters the only way the 'source' page benefits through using a cannnonical?
The falkland islands is technically part of the UK. Is it only mainland UK that is covered?
I can't get moz local to detect a google business listing.
Has anyone had this kind of problem?
Thanks James this has been so helpful. I've searched all matter of search terms but hadn't come across "dwell time" before. It's amazing how one search term can open up the internet for you.

I currently have a search facility in a website that noindexes the search results which is ok.
But when you click one of the results it takes you to a product which is noindexes as it has URL params.
The product also exists as this which is indexed : - https://www.visitliverpool.com/accommodation/albion-guest-house-p305431
Should I canonicalise is this instance instead of no index?
Does CTR apply to internal links? i.e. Does search console consider internal clicks? Are internal clicks a ranking factor?

Very very much yes. You'll see rankings improve.
Specifying dimensions of the source image does create a faster loading time as there is no resizing done in the browser. You should then use different sized imaged for different devices.

Try looking up "cornerstone content"
Ideally you want to combine these into one page if they are that closely related, and rank one page for both terms.

I've been watching this video by Rand - https://moz.com/blog/rel-canonical but it's still unclear in this scenario.
if you use the search facility "check availability" half way down the page the results page (urlparams) are no indexed. Would it be better to index and canonicalise?
There is no similar content but I'm concerned that no index will remove the ability for semantic content to be visible to google.
