4000 links from any site would look a bit unatural. Over at the google forums they preach that inbounds links will not hurt you unless you have previously got a boost from them, and if they get discounted you will then lose any benefit they gave. But 4000 links could look intentionally shady.

RE: Should I have Facebook Likes on my webpage point to a Facebook page or just the domain?
Pointing the likes to a FB page that points to your site would be optimal IMO.
-
RE: Need to hire an SEO consultant to fix my website
Try learning for yourself what the issues are and how you would go about fixing them Search engines are a great resource or you could ask specific questions here on the forum
-
RE: Influencing which page google chooses as the authority for a certain keyword
WHat Roy said and you may have tried too hard with your "cool widgets" page. Be sure you haven't over optimized the desired page. Good luck
-
RE: Issue: Rel Canonical
It's important to simply be aware of the Moz results, you do not need to "fix" every issues or "error".
-
RE: Difference in MozPoints between My Account and Q&A forum
The points in the Q & A would be the most up to date.
Not sure why there is a difference bit it's not really a huge deal anyway?

Be great to hear from more people with direct experience....

RE: The first 5 or what? How many words in page title = revelancy for onpage seo?
It depends whats in the content of the page. All words will count, but as some others have said you could be diluting by putting too many in there.
Don't stuff, make it readable, make it likeable (from a customers perspective) and choose your title carefully.
Make sure it is relevent to the page content, otherwise you are taking 2 steps backwards.
Keep it to one or two main keywords per page.
-
RE: Will Google handle "this not that" pages differently?
You would have to do it like what you were offering was a hotel. If it's clear that it's not, google will not rank you well for "hotel".
You will have to be smart about your approach, but it is possible.
-
RE: Internal Linking - in content vs navigation menu
Don't get caught up on what google does or does not tell you.
If you can find a relevent place for a link to be placed in the content, then do it. If it's helpful for the user then do it.
Generally, google will only count one link per page in terms of passing the juice to it, but if the same link is used in content it will still count somewhat, because the content is obviously relevent to the link that is placed, that in itself is a yes vote.
Good luck
-
RE: Are you allowed to point different urls to same page
If it's relevent the redirect should be fine.
Just be sure to put in a temporary redirect rather than a 301 and all should be good for when you are ready to redo the other sites/pages.
-
RE: Noindex, Nofollow to previous domain
Go into WMT if you have an account and resubi your sitemap for websitebuildersword.com, or simply google suggest site or something similar and find where you can submit your site to google again.
It should get indexed again anyway, because you should have some links out there somewhere that the bots will detect and go to your site from.
Quite a big stuff up though, on your programmers part.
Good luck

RE: Internal Linking
That's generally a good scope of internal linking, what more do you want to discuss ?
-
RE: Stability in the rankings - Domain mapping
I would say, if it's not broken, don't fix it.
Other then that I can't speculate on your situation, sorry.

RE: Using a .de domain for non-german website. Sane?
Basically a countries domain ending is always preferred if you are targetting that country. Depending how competitive your domain/keywords are in Brasil it could be fairly easy, or failry hard to rank. Some things to consider. Where you get your links from, if you want it to rank in brasil, get your backlinks form there when possible, also the hosting of your site is a major factor, if you want it to rank in brasil, try and get it hosted there as well. Good luck, and it is possible but you should really go for a local country domain name to make things easy for yourself.

RE: Does SeoMoz realize about duplicated url blocked in robot.txt?
Don't be too worried about SEOMOZ's errors. Just be aware of them, and if you have done what you need to for the robots file in regards to S.E robots, they should take notice and there shouldn't be any issues. Always be sure to check GWT for errors, those are the ones you should fix asap.

RE: Friends who like same Facebook page not showing correctly
No idea sorry, you could always try to ask facebook support?
-
RE: Problem in doing seo for a German medical website?
Check the cuurent backlink profile, clean up any bad links if you can, and don't get links from link farms. As well as everything else Robert said too.

RE: What are the most trusted SEO sites?
+1
What a great list.
^^ What they said, good luck !
-
RE: Can you help with quality and interesting content ideas?
Unforunately, if you do not know how to write good content, you'd better take a course or tutorial or something because you probably won't get to far when it comes to ranking.
You can always get ideas of others, just do not steal or spin their content.
-
RE: Best practices for repetitive job postings
It could be worth posting the question in GWT forum, so at least there might be a chance one of the google employees takes a note and may (or may not) be able to do something about penalties given to the site.
-
RE: Angies List and Judy's Book and other sites
Obviously there is a fine line and double standards when it comes to paid directory listings, however as long as you stick to the approved ones and to be sure only submit to free directory sites that might keep you out of trouble. The bottom line is you can NOT only rely on google for traffic and sales, to do so is only putting yourself into a corner.

RE: How to remove a thin site penalty
Yes unoriginal content will get you penalised very quick. Even if it's your content, if another site steals it and they have more authority google will most likely penalise you for it. Great to be given the benefit of the doubt isn't it? So clear that up but contacting other webmasters to have them remove it, or simply rewrite your content. After you are happy, resubmit your sitemap and update it if necessary before you do.

RE: Site not ranking in Google but comes up #1 in Yahoo and Bing
Simply put don't make your pages for SEO, make them for your users/visitors, do your main SEO offsite.
Time and time again though, we've experienced the google high - bing/yahoo low or the google low - yahoo/bing high.
It would seem each search engine reviews the others and do not want to display the same results, after all, what would be the point?
So figure out which one you want to target and go for it with whatever methods that get you up there. I think it'd be quite hard to get #1 for all search engines, unless of course your a site like wiki.
Good luck!

RE: Improve rankings for keywords...you can't display!
Basically, what everyone has said, take a wide angled approach, which will take time.

RE: DMOZ help
Hello,
I wouldn't bet on it, but there's no harm in trying
-
RE: How important are internal links as I have none according to a report
Do you possibly mean no outgoing links?
-
RE: Ranking History Reports
Just keep the email reports, that would give you a quick reference.
Not sure about history tracking, doe sthe site have a WMT account, you could possibly check back in there somewhat.

RE: The concept of Blogging
Blog how you want to blog and how you think it will interest the reader.
From memory I don't really think blogs with massive amounts of comments rank overly well, could be wrong though.
-
RE: Editing Author Pages
Get a plug in that will allow you to add meta info
-
RE: Still too many internal links reported on page
Yes what you have done is good, although I am not sure about the moz bots capabilities for drop down crawling. I would say wait until your next crawl, and even then if it picks up the links don't worry about it too much, just do what you can do and stick with it if it's good for the user.
-
RE: Mechanical turk, should I use USA workers?
Not sure but it would probably be more beneficial to do it for the country in what you want to rank in.
-
RE: Why Google still display search result so bad?
It has been said by a few recently that google has been rubbishing the search results to drive searchers more twoard the paid results. Not sure if this is true or not, but it'd be a huge shame and googles downfall if it were true.
-
RE: Whats happened to my rankings
Your rankings MAY come back, but it is a big change in googles eyes, even though it's not. The age of your new domain will keep your rankings down, as will the non direct links to your new site.
Google can and most probably will pull the carpet from under you not matter what you do, so your best bet is to NOT rely on google.
I hope your rankings return quickly, but don't get your hopes up.

RE: Reality of Panda 3.9 Refresh
Check WMT for any notices too. Check for any new spammy links pointing to/from the site.
Neg seo has been talked about a lot lately.

RE: Global Meta Data and Titles
If that's the only change you made, yes I would say that it the most likely cause.

RE: Looking for Feedback on Rankings Dropping
When G starts replacing with pages that are not as relative you can consider it may have something to do with a penalty.
Start looking at duplicate content, spammy links to or from the page/site, over optimization, bounce rates etc.
Hope this helps

RE: Universal Search vs Local Organic
Do the other sites have a physical address on their sites? Do you?
Do you have a google places listing?
Hope this helps

RE: New domain or flagged domain?
What Klarke said, but also let your client consider a reconsideration request with google after the redesign.
Google can sometimes be forgiving, and I believe that if you are seen to make a genuine effort to change/clean up your site you can get back to where you were.
A lot of the time spammy links when noticed by G are simply devalued and this is what causes the drop in rankings and a lot of the time what seems like a never ending penalty can be lifted the next day.
With the addition of google bringing in the link reporting tool into WMT your client could also have a chance to wash thier hands of the spammy links.

RE: Question about Robot.txt
That's the problem with most sitebuilder type prgrams, they are very limited.
Perhaps look at your site title, and page titles. Usually the site title will be the included on all of your webpages followed by the page title so you could simply name your site www.yourcompany.com then add an individual page title to each page.
A robots.txt file is not supposed to be added to every page and only tells the bots what to crawl, and what not to.
If you can edit the htaccess, you should be able to get to the individual pages and insert/change the code for titles, just be aware that doing it manually can work, but sometimes when you go back to make an edit in the builder it may undo all of your manual changes, if that's the case, get your site perfect, then do the individual code changes as the last change.
Hope this helps.

RE: Website Blog causes duplicate pages
If you can't change the titles yes. Don't worry about alexa, it is not a real indication of traffic and the rankings are not stable for at least a year or so, even then you are wasting your time looking at your alexa rank, it's a gimick.
-
RE: Anchor text
If they were boosting your rankings you will need to regain more backlinks, but proper backlinks so it may take a while. Google can leave the info for up to 4 months, not sure about Seomoz.
-
RE: Blocking Google seeing outbound links?
Why is it a big deal?
How about noindexing the page?
-
RE: Is putting introduction to new stories on the front page a good idea
You could put a small "latest news section" on the HP.
Or just select on the specific page a more frequent update setting on your sitemap. Should get it crawled quicker.
-
RE: Yahoo in United Arab Emirates
Yes bing and yahoo gives almost identical results. Select Arabian countires in Bing and you should be ok.
Hope this helps
-
RE: Studies about the importance of headlines?
Sorry, do you mean titles ?
-
RE: Image URL's have knocked my sub-pages down (WP)
So why can;t you put the images on the page, rather than have done it by using a gallery and linking to that?
Nofollowing the links may help, but the quickest/best soloution until you find a permanenet one would be to simply undo what you did then go to webmaster tools and remove the urls form the index.

RE: Two Questions
The seomoz PA only gets updated every no and them it seems.
If the only difference is a / I don't think it would make any difference, as long as both get to the same page.
Site: and link: isn;t indicitive of google penalties. There are many different penalties that can be dished out and you will almost always be left in the dark about them.
If you have been link building, check that. Google is huge on unnatural linking now.
