RE: What's the point of an EU site?
Hello
I got the same situation with customers recently. The best I've found was to tell them:
"You're definitely right we cannot loose the .eu. So we gonna redirect it to the BESTDOMAINE.com as main website. So people will still find you and you'll get more customers and will keep the .eu."
Then you can provide some technical arguments explaining that if he sticks to this position he will loose business.
In my case it worked out

RE: Merging Sites: Will redirecting the old homepage to an internal page on the new site cause issues?
Previous answers are definitely the good ones. Focus on relevance more. However you can still add a small popup message (or better module position) explaining the new redirection

RE: Article Submission
Matt is right on this.
Some years you may have tried to look for satellite websites or more. Now it's definitely not recommended.
In our case we reviewed all our competitors backlinks to see if there is any good website to do guest blogging with.
But the main guideline is now is: write content, make it good and useful, promote it on social media.
It is the best methods (at least the 7/30/13)

RE: Agency footer link, do we keep it ?
Mum ... I never really looked this as a problem until the last Google updates.
So if I got it properly:
- Keeping one link on the home may not hurt my website (now)
- Keeping the footer link on all website would be the last thing to do
- Keeping the link in nofollow can bring me some new customers (now) and penalize my site soon
I think I'm going for the nofollow option now.
What do you think ?

Agency footer link, do we keep it ?
Hello !
I was wondering if it's still a good idea to let a do-follow link on the bottom of agency released websites.
Because they obvisouly come from different websites with no link with a web marketing agency.
- Do we have to keep them in the footer in no-follow ?
- If we do so, how to get some link juice from the different websites ?
It sounds a bit stupid but one of my partners went from PR7 to PR5 recently. I guess Penguin 2.0 did not like all its links from its customers' website.
Tks a lot !

RE: Multi Regional website - Folder strategy
Hello
Thanks for your help.
I think the best in my case gonna be to keep the strucutre /middle-east and /asia but to use a robot.txt for those subfolders (apart the who are we page).
As explained I have to work also on the brand names which are different in those cases.
So the main SEO effort will be on the .com.
The other sub-folders will be more for users.
Tks for your valuable help !

RE: Multi Regional website - Folder strategy
Helo Tommy Tks for your reply. However I have a couple of more questions regarding your answers " Geo Target Tool in Webmaster to tell Google that .com/asia-en/services1.html is targeting only people in Asia " -> But in Google webmaster tools I canno't specify asia as country, right ? http://awesomescreenshot.com/050wdlae8 " the href=language tag " -> This is fine, but it will not with region, right ? -> And if asia can be considered as TLD , is there any way to do the same with africa and middle east ? TKs a lot !

Multi Regional website - Folder strategy
Hello Seomoz people !
I've been struggling for some time now with an international website project.
It's gonna be an:international website with joomla.
To sum up:
- We have an international company
- The company has 13 subsidiaries worldwide (same products, different names)
- The company doesn't have enough resources to get 13 independent websites
- Some subsidiaries work in one country / one language, some others on a region (several countries, several languages)
Thanks to your community we decided to:
-
Get a main website company.com
-
Get subsidiaries folders (middle east, oceania and south america will be easier to link to their subsidiary)
- .com/asia
- .com/middle-east
- .com/oceania
- .com/south-america
-
- .com/uk
- .com/usa
- .com/fr
- .com/es
- .com/de
- .com/ma
- .com/dz
- .com/it
We also need to:
- Get some websites in different languages
- .com/asia-cn
- .com/asia-en
- etc.
Now how do we do to manage:
Hope you can help us to figure us the best solution for this good project !
Thanks a lot.
