RE: Site Redesign: Bounce rate, converstion, page views, etc.
Good Points, Steven... Also did you build a new Google Sitemap.xml file to submit to Google as well build an .htaccess file for 301 redirects for old no longer URL' s to forward the new pages.
Check your Google Webmaster Tools for any errors, alerts and or 404 pages.

RE: Our SEO is garbage. can someone answer a few questions for me?
I think I found a few things that you can focus on first.. Do a quick search with a free tool called Xenu and I just and the tool and it finding a ton of broken links, pages that are no longer active. You will wan't to go through and clean those up first. Since it gives a bad visitor experience when the find something that maybe helpful and they click the link and it is dead... You can keep visitors on your site just by making this change.
The crazy thing is Xenu crawled 5886 URL's ???? Do you have that many pages? IF not you maybe having some database issues.
Another thing that may have you in the dump is from the Panda updates with low content to page ratio with this like below, as it looks like from the sitemap I ran you have a ton of these..
http://www.dentaldepartures.com/dentists/mexico/cabo+san+lucas
that then goes to this page for more details:
http://www.dentaldepartures.com/dentists/mexico/cabo+san+lucas/cabo+san+lucas+dental
I hope this helps, just food for thought.

RE: Remove Landing Pages?
The question I would ask is "What does your Analytics say?: First Review Like the others said, make sure if you are ranking now for them as well if they are bringing converting traffic... Keep them, if they are not ranking figure out why and maybe look for answers vs. just blowing them out...
GREAT Comments Guys... We all do not really understand where Google is headed but they are cleaning up the directory very aggressively within the last few months. Updates are always going to happen, but without looking at your own data things begin to be cloudy and people make the wrong descision based on thing said in all of these SEO articles around the web.
TEST TEST TEST..

RE: Local Listing Spam - Why is Google Missing this?
Thx Donnie for the reply, I see your point however for some reason these guys are ranking above others in the same space... It reminds me of the LockSmith Spam but in a different way..
Yes, they are over optimizing but the algo has not done anything about this.. I am a white hat SEO and don't believe in following this technique..
I found a company I posted in the past that did the samething and found it ranks.

Local Listing Spam - Why is Google Missing this?
I have a competitor that ranks in Google Search for a Top Dollar Keyword in the organic rankings with the normal result, however just below that it shows another result that contains the Local City Name followed by their business name.
In the URL they have domain.com > Local
and below the description data it shows a map for a totally different location as this competitor only has one location...
Once clicking on the link I found that it has everything in the title, description and h1 and body content in footer that talks about the local area but not their product.
and when you click the breadcrumbs you can go back to a directory of all the other cities and states they are targeting with doorway pages with the same layout however the anchor text is cityname+keyword
How are they getting away with this?

RE: MicroSites built for unique theme for targeting customers with Build in Shopping Cart
Thx Nakul,
the product is for printed products such as banners, so breaking it down via nitch maybe able to narrow down the options for the customer when looking for such things as a wedding banner and we would of course have no duplicate content, titles, etc .....

MicroSites built for unique theme for targeting customers with Build in Shopping Cart
I now that microsites have been frowned upon by may marketers as well like by many marketers.
One of my ideas is say you have many different products on one website but sometimes it is a bit difficult to really find.
We have built an shopping cart that allows our vendors to build a store and use the cart as their own but running off our servers.
What if you take that and combine it with an affiliate marketing strategy but could control the content for each site.
Let's say we build a site themed for Weddings and only had those products available in the cart for that theme and it catered information about the product for use for Weddings.
Another example would be Baseball: We did the same concept with the shopping cart only having the baseball products on that site.
We would provide the details that this is powered by the main company and is a sister site.
Could this type of idea be beneficial to extend our products for people looking for the product via nitch vs just random?
No link would go back to the main site as it would be it's own site.
I am calling a microsite only because it is like one in combination of an affiliate site but without a tracking code link but a place where the customer can buy directly from without leaving the site.

RE: Did we get hit by Panda? What do we do?
Great Points webfeatseo,
I went to the website and at first blush I did not see what I expected to see such as scraped content or duplicate content. I did not get too deep but one suggestion would be to review all of your page content and use something like plagium checker as well SEOMOZ tools such as the On-Page Report Card tool also maybe run the SEO Web Crawler to find any possible issues.
I did run a quick scan with Copyscape and it did find your content on other sites but not too bad but it maybe work getting the pro version to check deeper
http://www.copyscape.com/?q=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.nlpca.com%2F
Also I ran a test with Xenu site scan and it found a lot of broken links with 403, 301, 302, 404 Errors.
It also looks like you have a lot of outbound links from this domain.
Other items found:
Broken page-local links (also named 'anchors', 'fragment identifiers'): http://www.nlpca.com/DCweb/Interesting_NLP_Sites.html#null anchor occurs multiple timeshttp://www.nlpca.com/DCweb/Interesting_NLP_Sites.html#US not found
Again this is just a quick review I hope this helps....

RE: Sub Domain vs. New Root Domain for New Brand
If they are two entirly different bands and you are not using the same content I would say break it out into it's own so you can develop the reputation for it and you could say sister company of Brand A.
Sub domains are more for stuff like video.domain.com but I have seen more companies break it out.
Now if this is just another service offering I would find a way to include it somewhere in your main domain to reduce confusion.

RE: Strange Website Activity
It sounds like you are doing everything you can at this moment to get back to the rankings you once saw.
? Have you set up Google Webmaster Tools Yet?
As for your question about a campaign are you bidding on keywords? And is this where you are seeing the flux? If so I would check your landing page quality score to see what Google Rates that landing page and as well find a way to increase and improve the page for better conversion opportunities.
I also noticed you are not using the FREE Google Analytics tool so you can track this type of information that will give you a better idea of what your visitors are doing and where they came from.
Last you mentioned that this is a new website, and with that you will see traffic flux until a few months goes buy for a permanent position however when I say permanent it is dependent on your freshness of content and quality of all.. You will need links and in time those will come, however first focus on User Experience and then you can really start going after the SEO type factors.
I hope this helps a bit.

RE: +1 articles and opposed to a website
Personally I would say that a +1 to an article that is relevant would be more important because it brings attention to that article and we have seen Google now listing +1 pages in the index based on the search query. As well if that friend has others in their Google+ profile if they are logged in and search and see that persons photo they are more likely to click giving a better CTR opp.
-
RE: Where does Google say this?
I can see where the writer is going however Google will crawl anything it just not rank it unless it has relevance enough to push past the freshness algo, if that was true how could some of these basic social posts rank with little content. Thin content is only one of thousands of parts to the algo.

RE: How fast is too fast when it comes to link building?
Excellent Point Casey Kluver,
Building links is not like it used to be, as Casey pointed out SEOMOZ and many other sites depending on the topic can develop a ton of links and they did not even have to chase them or ask for them they just showed up, mainly because of what they do and how well they do it.
No take a car dealership that maybe a bit harder to get links for than say an automotive review site with articles on hot new items for the car or truck. Maybe they have controversial topics about a manufacture and a computer issue causing car accidents. Or you can even take Politics where someone said something that people did not agree on you may see a huge flux of push on that.
I hate to say it but build good quality content and links will come, when you do build good content then you can push out teasers to others on Facebook, Google+ and such and people will then share those articles with others. Google is looking for natural link patterns so yes if you get to many links from low quality building such as link exchanges and blast blogs with spam or tons of links back in forums and directories those may not help as much as someone really saying hey check this out.
I hope this helps.
Looks like your connection to Moz was lost, please wait while we try to reconnect.
