Hi everyone

Our brand has an active G+ page (updated daily).
Our G+ is also linked to our site, verified, and we were lucky enough to get a vanity URL of our choice after our Google overlords confirmed it for us.

When searching a specific brand term within Google UK, Knowledge Graph appeared with a link to our G+ page, logo and links to our last two G+ posts.
Much like if you search 'seomoz'

This has now mysteriously vanished.
It could be a coincidence but it vanished roughly around the same time as we got our vanity G+ URL.

I asked about on Google product forums but to no avail.

Anyone else experienced this? Or even know how to get Knowledge Graph back to how it was?

Hi there

What are the pitfalls of putting a forum on an already busy ecommerce website from an SEO perspective?
I wouldn't use a sub domain, I would add the forum on the primary domain in an attempt to help build my inbound link portfolio.

Some pro's and cons that come to mind...

Pros - Lots of (hopefully) great user generated and relevant content - Lots of potential landing pages off the back of the above

• Targeted community

Cons - Dealing with potential negative forum posts

• Constant moderation
• Possible issues with potentially 1000's of (what Google may consider) low quality pages on a domain name / site which currently fairs well in the SERPs

The last con would be my primary concern.
Anyone have any experiences with this? Or any advice at all.

On the 20th February a site I work on took a nose-dive for the main terms I target. Unfortunately I can't provide the url for this site.

All links have been developed organically so I have ruled this out as something which could've had an impact.

During the past 4 months I've cleaned up all WMT errors and applied appropriate redirects wherever applicable. During this process I noticed that mydomainname.net contained identical content to the main mydomainname.com site. Upon discovering this problem I 301 redirected all .net content to the main .com site. Nothing has changed in terms of rankings since doing this about 3 months ago.

I also found paragraphs of duplicate content on other sites (competitors in different countries). Although entire pages haven't been copied there is still enough content to highlight similarities. As this content was written from scratch and Google would've seen this within it's crawl and index process I wanted to get peoples thoughts as to whether this is something I should be concerned about?

I appreciate that h1 tags are over-optimised when they are poorly executed (e.g. keyword stuffing or using more than one instance of a h1 per page) however the same can be said for h2 tags.

If I were in your position I would look for further clarification of what he sees as over-optimized h1 tags.

In my experience the main contributor to increased rankings for onsite optimisation has been testing title tags. It's a very simple thing to change and this type of approach has a significant impact on long tail terms while also offering improvements on core search term positions.

These days I see relatively little benefit from a SEO perspective of footer links.

However, they can be very valuable from a user experience point-of-view. If you think that your visitors will find this section of your site useful to navigate to relevant areas of your site that they might be interested in then I would be in favour of using such an approach.

In my opinion and experience there have been links from pages to others on my site which I have added a nofollow tag to. To be honest I didn't see any strong benefits to this approach.

With respect to a page such as the "contact" page I would really be hesitant to noindex this. Keep in mind that sitelinks which appear for your brand search terms are really useful for visitors to navigate directly to this section of your site from the search results. Noindexing these pages makes this impossible for people to find within the search results and I wouldn't see much value in this approach from a SEO perspective.

Personally I don't get hung up on pagerank and focus largely on user experience from an onsite navigation and SEO perspective. It works well for me as only the core pages that offer people benefit on my site are linked from respective pages. There are a lot of other onsite approaches which will offer you much better value versus the time you would spend.

Hi all,

This is my first post and I really hope someone in here can point me in the right direction.

Background:
I added Rich Snippets code to the footer of my site, tested it on http://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/richsnippets which all looks good. I was attempting to link reviews for our brand rather than specific products as these product reviews aren't available.

Result:
Every page on my site contained the same rich snippets code and within a couple of days all the site pages were indexed including review stars. After another couple of weeks the review stars were removed from every page on the next crawl/index.

Next Steps:
I removed Rich Snippets code from every page except my home page. The rich review stars appeared in the search results for a couple of days but in the past two weeks they have since disappeared again.

What next?
I appreciate that I went about the implementation incorrectly but at this time only the home page contains valid mark up but no review stars in search.

Has anyone got experience or advice to help me out in this situation?
