These are physical signals, no way for the algorithm to interpret them. Street view may be possible, but its highly unlikely google would dedicate its resources to endorse paid advertizing to influence SERPS. Sure its benificial if someone uses street view and happens to see your site, but other than that its worthless to SEO. Same thing with the scanned image in google books.
Your correct our jobs would not exist if SEO was easy and automated! the "easy" button only helps you defeat those who dont know how to press it! once your past that your normallty competeing head to head with other skilled SEO's for the top spots often one link can be indexed and change me from 1 to spot 3, because the link profiles have grown so similarly between competitors.

This is more theoretical, talk on methods to influence google search suggest, (think auto complete which now will assist SEO alot more with more users using instant search) We want google to automatically suggest keywords that we have influenced.
Prob wont be an imediate recovery, there will certianly be a peroid of reduced flow. but legitimate sites that are not using "farmer" tactics will likely see signs of recovery soon when google indexes enough of the new links. Set up 301's on all your old links point them all to related pages in your new structure..... it could be done just rattleing off ideas here.
Social Media driven, internet scavenger hunts could help propigate instant search results and provide some jucy link bait! Would of course take some sort of contest reward incentivization.

Looking at the traffic, our sites have seen an increase, seems to be assisting getting rid of some of these affiliate farmers for ecom as well.
