Its utter garbage and snake oil. Their review system is flawed and I would not trust hiring anyone from their listing or the company itself.

Yes, there is a corporate site which links to all the sites. We essentially want to do the same on the individual websites.

Inbound Linking
Hello,
I manage a company that owns a bunch of schools (20) websites.
They would like to create on each website a page which shows their schools in all the locations. Will this be ok as far as white hat practices and inbound linking?

Hiding Elements on Mobile. Will this effect SEO.
Hey guys and gals,
I am hiding elements with @media sizes on the mobile experience for this site.
http://prepacademyschools.org/
My question is when hiding elements from mobile, will this have a negative effect on rankings for mobile and or desktop?
Right now it is a hero banner and testimonial.
My interest is because I feel responsive is now working against conversions when it comes to mobile because desktop typically has the same info several times where mobile it can be repetitive and only needed once.
Thanks,

Do you need Metadata on Password Protect Pages?
Hey guys and gals,
I was wondering if it matters to have metadata on password protected pages or if they can be ignored.

Trackbacks and Pingbacks 2017
Hey Guys,
I wanted to start a discussion on allowing these items in Wordpress. I do not feel they have helped in any site I have work on for clients or myself and they have opened the door to span in all cases.
Thanks,

RE: Best Permalinks for SEO - Custom structure vs Postname
I try to stay relevant to the
tag of the article or use the Title of the article.
It is not about stuffing keywords in places. It is about relevancy.
Here is a cornerstone article:
https://www.brightvessel.com/21-tips-woocommerce-website-design
One of my supporting article:
https://www.brightvessel.com/multiplying-e-commerce-site-conversions/
At the bottom: I added a link.
If you like this post, check out 21 Tips for WooCommerce Website Design
For me, I like things to be understandable and relevant to each article I link to, which works. I would use the mindset that your providing information and how you link that information needs to display that way.

RE: Is this keyword stuffing or best practice?
Joe,
Without seeing your site it would be hard to say. I do not think that would be considered keyword stuffing from what you mentioned.
"Keyword stuffing" refers to the practice of loading a webpage with keywords or numbers in an attempt to manipulate a site's ranking in Google search results. Often these keywords appear in a list or group, or out of context (not as natural prose).
This is Google's definition.
Here is a great breakdown from MOZ
https://moz.com/beginners-guide-to-seo/myths-and-misconceptions-about-search-engines
Supporting Article from Google's Matt Cutts:

See this image, this would be keyword stuffing.

Hope this helps

RE: Best Permalinks for SEO - Custom structure vs Postname
Hi,
Without diving in and doing a whole SEO breakdown. Here is an example of how I could explain what I would do for my site.
My Corner Strone Article:
21 Tips on How to Build a Good Homepage Design
Permalink: /web-design/21-tips-homepage-design
Category: web-design
I choose "not" to add my categories to my permalinks to make them short. The shorter the URL the easier to remember and the better you rank. In this example, I added a category.
On the URLs, try not to use "Stop Words" which are "Of, the, that, is, etc."
Additional articles linking back to the cornerstone article.
1. Title: What Makes a Good Website Header Design?
Permalink: /web-design/good-website-header-design
2. Title: Example of Website Design Banner Ads
Permalink: /web-design/website-design-banner-ads
3. Title: Important Design Elements for a Website Footer
Permalink: /web-design/design-elements-website-footer
Each article would have supporting information which would link back to an overall article.
Make sense?

RE: Best Permalinks for SEO - Custom structure vs Postname
If you have several articles pertaining to the same topic then consider making the best one the "Cornerstone Article"
https://yoast.com/what-is-cornerstone-content/
"Cornerstone content plays a significant role in any SEO strategy. It can be rather hard to rank for search terms that are very popular. A cornerstone approach could help you tackle those competitive search terms. If you write a lot of articles about similar blog posts, you need to tell Google which one is the most important. Otherwise, you’ll be competing with your content for a place in the search results. If you provide the proper internal linking structure between your posts, you can show Google which article is the most important."

RE: Cornerstone Content?
Ryan,
Think of it as a pyramid where the best content is at the very top and all the supporting content is linking upward to the one page the one page you will want Google to rank you best on. Google will really only give you in most cases. So when you write several articles targeting the same keyword phrase. You will want the cornerstone article as the one Google will find the most attractive because all the other articles link to it.
Example Corner Stone: 51 Tips On How to Build a Great SEO Plan
A. How to Build a Great Header
B. How to Build a Great Footer
C. What is a Good UI/UX
Supporting topics like a A, B, and C you could link to the "51 Tips On How to Build a Great SEO Plan" telling Google this is more important to take into consideration then the A, B, and C. articles.

RE: Best Permalinks for SEO - Custom structure vs Postname
RO,
This is a great article:
https://moz.com/blog/15-seo-best-practices-for-structuring-urls
See:
#6
Shorter URLs are, generally speaking, preferable. You don't need to take this to the extreme, and if your URL is already less than 50-60 characters, don't worry about it at all. But if you have URLs pushing 100+ characters, there's probably an opportunity to rewrite them and gain value.
I tend to not have a category in my URL and see this practice most of the time when surfing around.
Also, see this article:
https://yoast.com/wordpress-seo-url-permalink/
See:
Should I use the category in my permalink structure?
If your domain name is nice and short and you use short, yet descriptive category names, you can easily include a category in your permalink structure which can benefit your website, but beware: if you end up with a lengthy slug and category name, it will make sharing the URL more difficult and won’t have much added value in Google.
If you decide to use categories in your permalink structure, make sure that you only select one category per post. For some more information regarding using categories in your permalink structure, I advise you to watch the following video by Matt on this section.

RE: Could decreasing publishing frequency negatively affect our SEO?
Hi,
I have been in the same position myself. I would recommend taking a look at all your old content like Anthony mentioned and find what has been really valuable to your users. See if you can create less and only on the topics that hit home. I would also think about using a writing service and then just have an editor review and change what is needed. You will cut the cost down tremendously.
Does decent work, but you have to pick 4 or 5-star writers. You also have to make sure you brief is detailed so you get a good first round. Keep in mind this is not replacing writers just giving them original materials they can work with.
I would also try out https://promote.quuu.co/ which does a good job with getting the content out there at a very low cost. You can get a better gauge on what is more shareable topics. It also can help get more inbound links. When you promote your posts this gives a faster and greater understanding to what works.
Which brings me to the topic of gaining quality inbound links which in my opinion is one of the main reason for generating ongoing content. So I would look at how and where it is shared to gauge the quality of the content.
Good Luck!

How Good or Bad is having a blog feed(s) on the homepage?
Hello everyone,
I was wondering if I can get some different opinion about having a blog feed on the homepage.
Image, title, excerpt
I have several feeds on mine which I do not believe it hurts and has helped my rankings but I wanted some superior SEO brains to weigh in.
Is it good for SEO?
When would it be bad?
How many posts would be considered too much?
On my blog, have the most recent posts which have some of the same feeds. Which is making me question the duplicated content.

Thanks!

RE: Wordpress: Should I NO INDEX Categories & Archives Pages?
Hi all,
I think it is first important to look at your category structure. Use categories as main categories and tags as subcategories. If you have 1 post, in 5 different main categories, you will then be duplicated in some cases the same info. I keep all my posts in one main category which I do index and then all the subcategories as (tags) which I have no-index on. Also, Yoast SEO is my favorite plugin. Just plain easy to use.

One of your listings managed by Moz Local appears to no longer have data on either Google or Facebook
Hello,
Here is my business info:
Bright Vessel
18487 SE Federal Hwy #5
Jupiter, FL 33469561.935.6418
https://www.brightvessel.com/contact-2/
"One of your listings managed by Moz Local appears to no longer have data on either Google or Facebook. As a result we're pausing further updates. However, information distributed so far will be unaffected for the duration of your subscription."
I checked both my accounts and saw the only discrepancy was the suite # was missing on Facebook. I added but I am not sure what else I need to do.
Can someone help?
Thanks,
Judd
