@Yiannis, I didn't 'bash' or 'blame' anyone. I don't know what 'services' I should be looking for which is why I'm trying to hire someone to help me understand that. Also, your  statement that "...offering a budget which is close to the monthly MoZ subscription..." is not accurate. I pay $99 a month for Moz, that is not close to $500.

@vadim, yeah I tried that recommended list section. No luck.

Of the 39 vendors in the SEO Consulting section;

1 - provides courses, not consulting

5 - do not provide any pricing information

33 - have pricing that starts at a minimum of $1,000 a month

Local Search, 23

1 - does web design

1 - does project based only starting at $1000

3 - no pricing provided

18 - pricing that starts at a minimum of $1,000 a month

At this point it doesn't appear there are any firms that offer monthly retainer services for our budget.

I've read the guides, my question had nothing to do with learning SEO. Your suggestion to  reach out to relatively random professionals is not helpful. Moz is large community but your assurance that everyone could help me is not realistic. There are many, many people here that don't offer services for the budget I have available.

I'm looking for recommendations of people or firms that do. By getting recommendations I eliminate spending time (both mine and theirs) trying to assess and reach out to firms that don't.

Still looking for recommendations of companies that offer a <= $500 monthly SEO Service plan.

I'm trying to find a company that can provide SEO services for our small business. We have a limited budget, $500 a month or less. We have staff that can do much of the work in terms of correcting content issues, changing content, etc. However, I'm not an SEO expert and we need someone to help us by understanding where we are now and providing ongoing guidance on what we should be doing to improve and also in helping with execution where possible and/or necessary.

Can anyone recommend a company that might be able to help us with this within our budget constraints?

I looked at screaming frog, I didn't see anything that indicated how you would provide a file of thousands of URL's on the same domain to be checked? And I don't want to crawl the website, I just want it to check the 1 url and provide a response then go to the next one. Where would one find this feature in screaming frog?

I'm not sure this is the right approach. The catalog search is based on the search box on the website. The query parameter can be anything the customer enters. Are you suggesting that the backend code be modified to always return the  in every result?

And why that page because that URL just redirects to the home page because there is no query parameter provided for the search.

In terms o losing link equity, how much equity do they have it they are duplicate content?

Not sure if we are attempting to do the same thing but in looking at the tools recommended here not sure they do what we are looking for. We would like to take a list of 100,000 URL's and have some software check the response code for each one. We don't want it to crawl a site just the individual URL provided and then go on to the next one in the list.

Anyone know of a tool that can do this?

In reviewing my crawl results I have 5666 pages of duplicate content. I believe this is because many of the indexed pages are just different ways to get to the same content. There is one primary culprit. It's a series of URL's related to CatalogSearch - for example; http://www.careerbags.com/catalogsearch/result/index/?q=Mobile

I have 10074 of those links indexed according to my MOZ crawl. Of those 5349 are tagged as duplicate content. Another 4725 are not.

Here are some additional sample links:

http://www.careerbags.com/catalogsearch/result/index/?color=28&q=bellemonde

All of these links are just different ways of searching through our product catalog. My question is should we disallow  - catalogsearch   via the robots file? Are these links doing more harm than good?
